Hello! I'm new here and wow I am a little overwhelmed with just how much there is! I'll be honest with you, I'm not really sure where to start; I want to lose weight and build some muscle, and I hear that working on my core may potentially help my back pain. But ever since I had my first C-section 7 years ago (and got even worse with my second 4 years ago) I've had trouble even doing a single full sit up.

So I'm not 100% sure where to start anymore, because that used to be my go-to when I wanted to tone up a little for conventions. Watch an episode of an anime, do 20 sit ups and push ups during the credits and opening themes, rinse and repeat. I can't do any of that nowadays. It's a really harsh realization, you know?

But now I have an accountability partner in an online friend, and I very much want to support them in their goals, and plus plus it happens to work towards my goals too! I've been starting easy, with chair workouts, yoga, and stationary bike riding. But I feel like I'm not being consistent enough, and like maybe I need more variety. Or more options? Keep it interesting, I guess?

Anyway! Hi, I'm Shizu, I have narcolepsy, chronic pain, and kids that like to get all up in my business when I'm trying to exercise. Will take any and all tips!

Hello! I'm so glad that you've joined Darebee. We have a very kind and caring community here. If you go to "WORKOUTS", you can filter for different types of exercises - You could select "abs", choose maybe easy or normal difficulty, and see if you're able to complete those exercises without pain. There's also a light category as well. Maybe you'd enjoy some of the ab workouts since you like sit ups! But if any of them bring you pain or discomfort, maybe see a physical therapist for ideas on what workouts you can do? I'm not expert, just spitballing here :)

The most important thing is to find a workout you enjoy! So just keep searching, keep checking out workouts and programs, and I'm sure you'll find one you enjoy.

I also recommend making a topic in the Checking In forum. You can share your progress there, and often others will follow along and leave comments of encouragement.

Hi Shizu!! Nice to meet you and welcome. I too felt overwhelmed when I first came to the site, but after learning your way around it becomes easier to navigate and manage. I was also in the same situation with trying to find certain exercises that'll target my mid section as well. I too had a c-section and it seems almost impossible for me to get rid of this Falupa :LOL: but I'm determined to do just that. I also have little people that like to interfere in my workout process either by working out with me or just plain being in the way lol, but I've found the foundation light and Gut Buster to be quite helpful starting out. Then I usually try the exercise of the day and workout of the day depending on what they are and the monthly challenges.
