A couple weeks ago I got real burnout, which for me leads directly into depression, and one thing I've found that really helps breaks that spiral is writing down #3GoodThings each day to remind myself (and others) that there is good in this world (Mr Frodo) and it's worth fighting for;

So for today I'm grateful for;

:pink_heart:
Pink morning light
:sleeping_face:
Good nights sleep for the first time in a lil while
:hot_beverage:
My wife made us fresh coffee to drink in bed together
:smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

What are your #3GoodThings today? Let's keep it going..

Oh, my emojis went big!? 😂
Maybe don't use them for bullet points on here then (unless someone can tell me how to make them normal sizes?)

Oh wow, those are big emojis! I kinda like that though. ^_^

I do a 3 things I'm thankful journal every day. I definitely think it helps. Though mine is often food related, haha.

Mine today are:
  • I'm grateful my crew understanding my need for coffee
  • I'm grateful communication has been going really well for me lately
  • I'm grateful the site I've been reading manga at seems fully fixed (it was partially down for a while)

My 3 Good Things for today are;

⚔️ Playing a new kind of DnD later today in person with new people (nervous about it TBH but should be fun)
🥰 Seeing you all engaging with this thread and hearing your good things, made me very happy
👵Doing the lightest program on here (Vitality) instead of pushing myself to do hard stuff is doing wonders for my joints and back - it's so nice not to be in a little bit of pain all day long!?

Thanks for playing y'all, let's keep it going? 💖

I'm always bad at these so I think that's a sign that I should try. Here are my 3 good things for today

📚 books! both in print and audio format. Getting lost in a book is truly one of my favorite things

🎶 musical theater. so good for feeling all of the feelings, good and bad.

🍃 nice, cool, breezes. It was a suffocatingly hot summer and the return of cool breezes have been everything. the windows have been open for around an hour and it has been nothing but a cool and steady breeze the whole time.

I recently started Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson as an audiobook. I'm about 1/3 of the way through it and I like it so far. It's narrated by someone who also narrated one of my favorite series (Wheel of Time ((I still have three books left in it.... I don't want it to end!))) so it feels extremely comforting and familiar even though it's a whole new world.

Nice! The Wheel of Time is on my TBR list
I've been working my way through The Thursday Murder Club on audiobook and they changed the narrator half way through and that was no good

You're in for a treat - the pace finally picks up a bit in the last three books. #12 and #14 in particular were probably my favourites since The Eye of the World. It's a very satisfying payoff after investing so much time in the series.

This is so exciting to hear because I'm about partway through book 12 right now! I'm torn between wanting to get through the books and savoring them. I started reading them back in 2015 and I'm not going to know what to do with myself when I'm finished! It's been such a huge part of my life this last decade, as I often reread/relisten up to the point I'm at every so often. This is part of the reason I picked up the first of Sanderson's cosmere universe books. I'm hoping it'll be a little bit of a distraction to soften the blow of not having any more Wheel of Time to read!

Ahhhhhh I'm so excited! :D

🚗 Being able to distract my wife with car games when traffic was stressing her out
🥩 Making supper for my wife when she was tired
😴 Being able to take an afternoon nap

I've been really burnt out for weeks and needed a lot of looking after, so it was actually really nice to feel helpful for a change - it made me realise that actually taking care of the people you love is actually quite rewarding, and not as burdensome as I assumed when it was me - so I needn't have felt so guilty and miserable about it all along?! 🤯

🍁 Autumn evening walks, kicking through the leaves
🍲 Coming home to the smell of roast dinner (meatloaf but there's no emoji for that, tried to capture the vibe instead)
⛏️ Getting my new Minecraft base established (still need to do my interior)

  • good turnout at Friday's rally with lots of support from folks driving by
  • sweater weather (I am so happy we are finally done with the brutal heat here for a few months!)
  • my upstairs neighbour sits out on our shared front porch to hand out Hallowe'en candy (So I don't need to deal with Shelby barking at trick-or-treaters ringing our doorbell all evening.)

🎤De Fem and lofácil on air being the best interviewees one can have (please give them a listen, both are absolutely fantastic bands).
🌌 A lovely drive back home, I got lost but loved the view of the city like a field of stars.
❤️ A satisfying chat with my lover.

Today was a good day 🐇

  • municipalities here have largely woken up to the fact that there are valid reasons a homeowner might want the land surrounding their home to be something other than a golf green
  • many people in my neighbourhood have embraced this new and hard-won acceptance of non-lawn green spaces to turn their front yards into pollinator gardens and even naturalized spaces
  • visiting our octogenarian friend in her yard, which is basically a miniature forest grove now, enjoying the canopy of leaves overhead and the visits from many birds, squirrels, voles, and other small critters who are able to find sustenance and build homes on her land

  • my Aikido club
  • my Aikido friend's wife, who is also my friend, drove us to class Monday night. (She does not do Aikido but often comes to classes to watch.) So I got to visit with both of them.
  • These friends buy high quality chocolates to give out as Hallowe'en candy (because, if they have leftovers, they want it to be leftovers they will eat). This year they didn't get any trick-or-treaters at all. So they brought the bag of very nice chocolates to class to share with everyone at Aikido.
