Extrovert Exercising
(Sorry this is so long but I love talking. Promise subsequent posts will be shorter.) Hi all! I've been having tons of fun with Darebee - I've tried exercising before but I hate exercise videos with a burning passion, so this poster format has been so good for me. I also love the programs, because then I don't have to think every day. I did Foundation, and then Back & Core alongside Unbound. I feel kind of stupid doing this, but I am an extroverted social butterfly, and quietly exercising at home in the mornings has felt kind of lonely. I'm hoping posting what I do each day will satisfy my desire for a social aspect!
I'm not concerned with my weight or becoming the strongest in the world or something - I'm no athlete. My goal is to set myself up for graceful and conscious aging. I'm only 25, but as a church admin and an active member of a knitting group, I've become acutely aware of how physical fitness can make aging more or less pleasant. My priest is 76 years old, and he's still pretty vital and energetic - goes to the gym and has been known to chop up and move large fallen branches with his chainsaw! I know a woman in her mid-late 60s who will do multiple hour tennis matches and go on days long bike trips. I also know people their age or younger who are less active and more frail. Some of how we age is out of our hands - my beloved godmother has been badly affected by long covid and has POTS, among other chronic illnesses. I watched one of my college roommates be rendered nearly bed bound by early onset rheumatoid arthritis at age 21. They eventually got diagnosed and medicated, but they still have physical limits. I am very lucky in that, other than a leg that can tell you the barometric pressure from a drunk driver when I was 17 and a minor blood disorder that gives me permanent mild anemia, I'm in fairly good health. I want to do what I can to keep it that way.
SO! I'm hoping to focus on maintaining balance (I can feel that mine is less good than it used to be due to aforementioned leg) and a reasonable muscle mass (sarcopenia awaits us all). Also, I can't touch my toes without bending my knees, and the Touch Your Toes Challenge got me closer but not quite there. That is one of my New Year's goals because it's kind of embarassing to me. So I really really want to work on improving lower body flexibility even though it frustrates me to no end when I can feel I've hit my limit but I'm not in the pictured pose...
I actually finished Back & Core and Unbound on Sunday (and I've been doing Perfect Balance, very in my wheelhouse), but yesterday and today I've just picked a workout and done it, because I want to start my next program on the 1st. I always do the Universal Warmup, and plan to do 90 Days of Action Program, Easy Arms Challenge (as prep for hopefully doing a wall pushup challenge and then a regular pushup challenge), and just repeat Unbound as stretching for hopefully increasing flexibility. Copying the format I see from other people, today I did

- Universal Warmup
- Tiger, Tiger Level II (Workout of the day - no thought in picking required on my part haha)
- Finish Line Workout
- Made what Google maps said should have been a 12 minute walk in 7 minutes of jogging & walking, just in time for the bus lol (I know I wouldn't have been able to keep up the jogging as long a year ago!!)
- Perfect Balance Day 29 (I'm a little behind)

Supposed to rain tonight, hopefully that will help clear it up some so vendors won't skip the farmers market tomorrow. It's not as bad as last evening, dropped from 250 this afternoon to about 230 now. My BFF in Chicago had an AQI of over 600 for a while yesterday. Hope everyone is breathing easy!!!
