So I posted a while back (https://www.community.darebee.com/threads/information-overload-where-to-start.2055/) and have been diligently working at it. It's taking time to see changes, but I'll get there.
I did make a few changes.
I am walking 10km in the evenings only - early mornings was a challenge and given where I'm located, some mornings were pretty cool/cold and miserable with the rain.
Bought a raincoat that I can wear overtop of my regular clothing - think the type of raincoat you wore when you were a kid! I look like a duck! LOL! But the few times that I did go out in the rain, I was soaked. My jacket is good, but the rain can be relentless.
I modified my routine as it looked like I was doing some things multiple times (or working out the same muscle groups) (for example, alt-bicep curls, and bicep-curls). I also upped my reps from 4 > 7 and bought a few more weights (10lbs, 12lbs and 15lbs -- yeah, don't laugh). Optimizing the routines, also allowed me to do more sets.
I am seeing small changes, I can actually see muscle through all that fat! LOL! And I actually do have a collarbone -- I could just never see it. I can see a lot of changes, just the slowest change is around the middle -- hate that stomach!
Although I don't show a rest day (or two) in here, typically they are Fridays and Saturdays -- just can't muster the energy or enthusiasm to do it. I do aim to try and get 50km per week and am alternating each walk between walking and light jogging.
But I try to get in 8.5k steps daily.
Sticking very close to my calorie budget daily, though with walking I end up burning about 1k calories I am almost always in a deficit even beyond what I should be eating -- which I know isn't good but trying to maintain a net zero is tough as it feels like I'm overeating.
I have added protein shakes to my daily routine - 200ml gives me about 14g of protein and is 133 calories).
Keeping to a low carb diet (I am Type 2 Diabetic). On that front, my last A1C wa 7.1 -- this is the lowest it has been in 20+ years of being a diabetic. I expect my next A1C to be under 7% -- IF has been helping here (16:8).
Since starting my journey, at 280lbs I am now down to 236lbs and am on track to be down to 230lbs by the end of December 2024. The APP I'm using to track calories, and macros tells me that I should be at my goal weight of 180lbs by July 2025.
Walking is fun.
Weights are not fun. I listen to music to keep myself occupied, but definitely more boring than walking.
Having a workout/diet buddy has been very helpful - we keep each other accountable and chat often to keep ourselves motivated.
