Thank goodness it's Friday! I've been dragging by the time I get home. It's been almost a year since I travelled anywhere and I'm feeling the need for adventure. So many destinations to choose from; maybe somewhere warm?

Took a brief trip to Civilization to look at some used vehicles for my daughter, but no luck. We are going to have to drive somewhere farther away where supply & demand are more balanced. After a very frosty and cold beginning, the day became almost warm.

Thank you beautiful bees! I think this was my 4th time through SOMA 40+.

I haven't been able to decide which new program to begin, so for now I'm doing the exercise of the day and workout of the day.

I have been down with the flu for several days and am starting to feel better. For two days I did nothing but lay in bed - not like me at all!:crawl: Yesterday I was able to eat a little but I am still so exhausted. I'm taking it easy and doing some gentle exercise to keep my blood moving.

Meal prepping for the week. I made a batch of the Darebee applesauce cookies cause I like them for breakfast. I had printed off the recipe ages ago and it's not on the Darebeets site. Maybe it was from the archive? Anyhow it's yummy. :drink:

First day back at work since getting sick. It was a struggle but I did it. The flu continues to make the rounds. Drinking lots of elderberry tea.

Feeling like myself again today and have more energy. :) Did some vehicle maintenance after work for my mom and now I'm going to make a big batch of quinoa chili for our monthly potluck tomorrow.

Our staff potluck theme was 'Comfort Food' and it was a success. Unfortunately almost everything was full of carbs and I now know what a bloated warthog feels like. :p But hey, life's too short not to enjoy some mashed potatoes and gravy every once in awhile.

A little rain overnight seemed to clear some of the student drama today. :blackout:Despite feeling tired and brain-foggy I battled on. I managed to accomplish quite a lot. It seems like the month of January is really long though.

Phone and internet issues continue to plague our area. The problem is that the providers up here aren't interested in rural customers. So the phones go down repeatedly to our hospital, newspaper, local businesses and schools. "We don't show an outage" they say. Hello! This is your outage report! :onfire: Sometimes I get emails and voicemails days after they've been sent. Maybe smoke signals would be better?

The weather has been unseasonably warm and dry so I took advantage and did some yardwork yesterday. Today I went for a hike and discovered a large amount of clumps of bear fur all over the trail -- like something got in a fight with a bear. It has me wondering who won...

Happy Groundhog Day!
Apparently there's going to be 6 more weeks of winter but in my part of the world winter hasn't even arrived yet. Did you know that Puxatawney Phil has an accuracy rating of only 35%?? I could do better flipping a coin. Then there's Staten Island Chuck who comes in around 85%. What a weird tradition.

There was a LOT of whining amongst the student body today. :persevering: Lots out sick as well. I get it. After the winter holidays everything can feel blah. But hey, the sun came out and it was really warm for this time of year. A very frenetic day sprinkled with frustration and laughter. Much to be thankful for.

I knew it! I knew it! SNOW is finally in the forecast for next week! :snowball::snowball: :snowball:YAAAAY! Apologies to you folks that have been suffering from extreme cold and snow in the eastern half of our country. Our area depends on mountain snowpack to fill the lakes and keep the fire danger down. So far this year there has been very little snow or precipitation. Besides, I haven't even been snowshoeing this year!

Yesterday was a long day. Went to Civilization to stock up on groceries and got home quite late. Today I slept in, then got busy with housework. I've been puttering around, which makes me happy. :)

Saturday I was catching up on housework and pulled a muscle in my back (really?? I was just dusting!). I decided to give myself Sunday off and spent half of it watching a very boring Super Bowl game and using a heating pad. I also did some meal prep for the week. Today my back feels much better.

There are so many sick people at work!! My co-worker who sits next to me was coughing, coughing, coughing, and finally went home. I keep washing my hands and sanitizing all the door knobs, hoping I can keep healthy. It's hard when the work environment looks like this:

Yesterday was full of meetings after work and I ran out of time to workout. Today was hectic and frenetic. My daughter is having a houseguest at the end of the week and we have been getting groceries and cleaning, etc. I don't do well with hosting. I like people, just not all of the time. Plus, our guest will be sleeping in my daughter's room which means that my daughter and I and the cats will all be in my room. I have next week off but hosting and taking people to places and appointments feels like work. I am feeling very selfish about the whole thing and guilty that I feel selfish. I want to run away to a tropical island. :tuzki-hero:

I slept well last night and am in a much better frame of mind today. Left work early for an appointment in Civilization and encountered not one, not two, but three stops for roadwork :eyes: Thankfully it didn't slow me down too much. It was a beautiful day out.

I was up at 4am this morning to take my mom in for minor surgery. It went well and she is doing great. I'm very tired though. I contemplated a nap but I'm not very good at napping, unlike Pixie, whose snoring literally woke me up last night. She's the weirdest cat.

I woke up to a beautiful snowy world. Shoveled my mom's place and then went for a walk. Our houseguest is from a tropical climate, but dressed in borrowed snow gear, had a great time exploring our winter wonderland.

More snow, but just the right amount that shoveling isn't terribly hard. And no power outages which is great. Houseguest is on a side trip overnight which gives me and the cats some needed quiet time.

Good luck with the next round of snow. Hope you don't get a big dumpload. I'm waiting for it to warm up before I tackle the snow we just got. At -26ºC/-15ºF with wind chills that brought it down to -40ºC/F I said, "hell no!" and stayed inside as much as possible. 😉

There was about 4" of snow overnight and it's melting fast cause it's not nearly as cold as where you are! Stay warm 🙂

Beautiful, fluffy snow fell overnight. I did my morning shoveling for my mom and perimeter check for storm damage. All is well. There was even some snow in Civilization which caused minor panic and traffic chaos. It snows maybe once a year there and the Civilized folks really don't know how to drive in adverse conditions. smh. :sus:

Everyone was awake at 3am Friday morning so houseguest could catch an early flight. Very cold at 17F. I wasn't feeling well yesterday. I managed to tweak my back and forearm shoveling snow (both weak spots) so I gave myself the day off--sort of. Still had some post company clean up to do. The cats are happy that their routine is back.:pet:
