  • I haven’t been on skates in decades. I felt super tired after an hour, and there were tons of little kids falling constantly around me. So, I opted *off* the rink for my own safety. Pushing it with too much fatigue can lead to a fall and a broken wrist in a “mature” woman like myself, which I seriously do not need.
I was so cavalier about roller skating safety in my youth. Used to skate on the roads with no safety equipment whatsoever. (Used to cycle with no helmet back in the day too, which would be illegal for a child here now.) Ever since playing roller derby, however, if I'm on my skates, I'm wearing a helmet, knee pads, and wrist guards. I don't wear a mouthguard anymore since I stopped playing, and I don't usually wear the elbow pads now either. (When I did play I think the elbow pads did more harm than good. Certainly I got bruises from them. And I've never fallen on my elbows.) But my head, my knees, my wrists--I'm pretty keen on not damaging these things these days!

I never did roller derby. Never wore any protective gear, or bike helmet, either. Hell, when I was an infant, car seats hadn’t been invented yet, or if they had, they weren’t the LAW. So, me and my brothers bounced around in the back seat like marbles when my dad got into a car accident😵‍💫. My granddaughter was in roller derby last summer and that’s where she learned to skate. With ALL the gear on! With me, she wore all the pads, but no helmet or mouth guard or wrist brace. The time she had gone before, she wore it all and got pulled over by the staff for “racing!”😤😅

It’s yummy! It’s a “gristly” cake, which many people are not fond of, but husb and I are both huge fans. And I used an oblong pan, added a cinnamon spice mix to it and extra vanilla. Due to the butter, we are only eating a small piece once a day. Ha! I wish! It’s not rhythmic enough! When he was heavier, he was super stressed and would have apneic spells. So, THAT really kept me awake. 😩😤

I had a housemate once who was a loud snorer and had sleep apnea. My other housemates and I all slept in rooms at the back of the house, on the ground floor. The snorer slept in the basement at the front of the house. Still, we could hear him snoring. And we could hear when he stopped. Very disconcerting.

AM- woke up at 5:45am (PST). Before o could get up, my black monster slithered up onto the bed and nestled into ti crook of my arm😅. It’s still quite windy, and the chill factor is crazy. AND, it’s snowing again❄️😵‍💫😤It’s 22 (F)degrees feels like 9!!!🌬️🥶😖
