Workout after hospital stay?

It's been a while since I last posted on here but hopefully this question may get the Hive mind working a bit.

Short version: I came out of hospital last Tuesday after spending 12 days on ward including 6 in ICU. Especially in the ICU ward you are essentially fixed to the bed due to all the feeding tubes and equipment that's connected up to you and so I've not been able to move very much. As part of the treatment I also gained about 15kg of water weight (this has mostly dissipated with the help of diuretics).

The main consequence of this seems to have been significant loss of muscle density (not that I started from a great place anyway). Added to the fact that i am having to remember how to walk (even after 12 days!) and the road back to full health may be quite long. I do accept this is not going to be an overnight job but am keen to get back to "normal strength" and movement as quickly as possible.

What exercises / programs should I do to help with rehab?

Thanks all!!

Happy to discuss in more detail privately if required.

I'm glad that you're doing better. I second @graoumia 's suggestion. It's an easy one, but a good way to dip your toes in to see how well you do.

I also recommend taking it slowly, even if that means starting back at an easier intensity than you might realize. My understanding is that just one day being stuck in bed can really hit the muscles so you may be a bit weaker than you think. So I'd start kinda easy to get a good baseline as to where you are now. Even though that may be a bit on the frustrating side (or, at least it would be for me).
