Thought I'd share this since it is super easy to make and super cheap. Might be useful to a few people. I got the recipe straight from LMNT (they give it away for free, even though their product is super expensive). I make a mason jar of the flavour-free version at a time so I always have some on hand.

  • 2,500 mg sodium chloride (for 1,000 mg sodium)
  • 385 mg potassium chloride (for 200 mg potassium)
  • 375 mg magnesium malate (for 60 mg magnesium)

I got the potassium and magnesium in bulk. And I'm pretty sure I can go three years for the cost of a one month's supply of the real deal.

I blend the mix until it the salt is very fine so it dissolves quickly.

Converted to about a mason jar's worth ( x200 )

  • 500 g sodium
  • 77 g potassium
  • 75 g magnesium

Enjoy!

I mainly look at getting potassium in my diet, I don't sweat much from my workouts. Did do hot yoga some years back and would consider electrolyte supplement but didn't.

When I finished a hot yoga class, it was like I was sitting in a rain puddle at the end, electrolytes would be a good idea.

Thank you for sharing this. My oldest daughter has POTS (one of her chronic illnesses) which requires a high salt diet. It’s harder than you think, especially since she has a sweet tooth 😂 I’m gonna share this recipe with her. 🧂🧂🧂

Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. When your autonomic nervous system (controls breathing, heartbeat and digestive processes) malfunctions. People who have this usually have low blood volume, suffer from fatigue, dizziness, lightheadedness, irregular blood pressure… the list is too long for one comment. They require a high salt diet, drink a gallon or more of water a day.
That’s the short explanation of it.
