Thank you Madam Meow and to all those wishing me well! I'm back and I'm hopeful that with the new treatment for my joints, things will improve. But because there's an adjustment period with the meds, I will have to actually start them after I'm done with holiday travel. I like the rheumatologist. He seems genuine and down to earth.

Today, I was able to complete the Silver Workout at level 3 with very little discomfort. I haven't been doing much strength training. This month. An out of town visit with family has lifted my spirits considerably.

I wish everyone a Merry Yule!

Bees! I'm back! I never left, really, just haven't updated lately. Lots of new Bees, I see.
I think the new joint meds are working! I'm slowly, slowly feeling better.
They did say that actually taking the meds could trigger joint inflammation at first. It did, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
I helped a friend move yesterday and last night I thought: I overdid it.
I'm resting today but none the worse for the lifting yesterday. No soreness to speak of. I feel like I'm getting better by just drops and trickles. I'll take it!
I've been doing 30 Minute Walk and Mobius which are both very easy but it keeps me moving. Soon I will again ramp up the workouts.

Welcome to the NewBees & and a good week to all!

Quickie update: Things are a bit of a mess in my professional life & I am job hunting. In the meantime, I am falling off the wagon here. I cannot allow that.
Therefore, I am starting Cardio Go! at level 3 as of today. I like the timed cardio workouts better than counting reps, which is a chore unless I'm actually using weights. I feel like I've accomplished something when that timer hits the final second in the final set! I need to capture that feeling and get off of my duff.
I have a follow-up visit with the new rheumatologist in 2 weeks and more tests will be done. I want to hear some good news. Lawd, I sure do need some.
I miss reading what y'all are up to. I need to check in more and get my motivation up.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Y'all! Thanks for the wishes! I am truly glad to be here today. By "here" I mean alive.
I have not checked in because I did not have anything nice to say.
I am in recovery mode for almost three months after nearly concurrent injuries to opposite knees and one foot, and and visits to the rheumatologist (inhale, sigh) AND gaining weight - things have not been going as well as I want. I have been living in my bedroom for weeks. I am basically starting from scratch. I have to get up and get in the sun. My mobility has been so bad that I'm removing some living room furniture that's too low to the floor in favor of something easier to use.

All of that said, I really think that I may have been worse off now if I had not gotten as far as I did with DareBee in the first place.

Today's workouts: I Showed Up and Keeping It Real. I have no idea about the rest of the week. It will come as it comes.

A good week to all Bees!

It's great to see you, and I hope your recoveries get better. Take each day as it comes and know that we are here to cheer you on and support you no matter what, both in victories and hard times.

I hope you're able to get some "shore leave" and get some sun, it's highly recommended by Starfleet. :)

Best wishes and healing vibes being sent your way from a fellow Trekkie :vibes:

Thank you! I have not seen other Trekkies on DareBee but I haven't been on here much lately. Viel Erfolg beim Deutschstudium!

Hello fellow trekkie! I used to be one, but today's trek is so different, I no longer have a passion for it like I used to (I'm a TNG fan mostly).
Did not like Discovery but enjoying Strange New Worlds. Appreciation for Lower Decks as well.

Bees! Thanks for the replies!
It's my first Darebee Anniversary. I'm still here! Did I reach my goals? No. Did I loose weight? Also, no. I weigh more than when I started. I could not have seen this much trouble with mobility. Which in turn affects me psychologically. And then those things work in tandem, negatively, unless the effort to dispel them is strong. That's on me. I am the guardian of my fate, at least in that regard.

What I'm doing: regular visits to the rheumatologist. It has helped quite a bit. I didn't expect a magic pill fix.
I have to do stretching exercises with my hands and feet to help with mobility- I did not know that was a thing! I do now.
I have to walk. Like fool. Walk, walk, walk.
I have to strengthen my lower body: knees, hips, glutes are the absolute priority.
I have to eat like a person who WANTS to be healthy.

Days on Darebee: 367.

Perhaps a tip for walking (i.e. let's call this an away team mission!)

1) try to go for a walk the very first thing in the morning, dark or light, cold or hot... 5-10 minutes around the corner.
2) go for a walk immediately after lunch or dinner (or breakfast, if you didnt first thing), another 5-10 minutes -- it really helps with digestion and blood sugar levels after a meal
3) If it's raining, walk around the house...

Bring a motivating podcast with you if you go on longer walks, time flies with those!

Thank you all for your replies and support! It's been a good week. I sure needed one. Work is super busy and I've been walking a little more each day. I can walk about 30 minutes before I have to rest a few minutes. Once I can go an hour without stopping, I'll change things up a bit.

Y'all! I am (surprisingly) alive. The past few months have been a mixed bag. Not 3 weeks after my last post, I injured my ankle. By the end of September, my job situation had become insufferable. I cannot post in this forum my opinion of the people running that place. Due to saving every dime for the past 5 years, I was able to quit on my own terms and try to recover while looking for something else. I probably would have gotten fired anyway as the scapegoat. I just started another similar job that I think is better in the long run, although not quite as much money. They are aware of my issues and don't seem to care. My weight is the real issue. I'm 268, according to the rheumatologist today. I am not able to change medications but he specifically mentioned adding some good protein, limiting carbs to 150 g, while avoiding vegetable and seed oils. As long as my kidneys checked out, which they did. All of that is basically what I was doing to lose weight anyway, before this mess happened.

I can still walk at a steady pace for 30 minutes before stopping, although it's a little harder than it was the last time I checked in. That walk has been my yardstick of sorts, and what I've been hanging onto these past months.

Have a smashing week, Bees!

YEAR 2!!

It's been two years this weekend since I found DareBee! The past year has been very much a mixed bag with my mobility. I am keeping regular visits with the rheumatologist.
It's up to me to improve. The only way out, is through.
I know that despite not being where I want to be with my physical health, DareBee has made a profound impact for the better.
Thank you to the staff and @neilarey & @Damer for all things DAREBEE!

What I'm doing this month: TEN 30-day Program
The appeal of this program is that it's timed in such a way that it's easy to modify based on your needs:
"TEN is not designed to be done as quickly as possible although you can choose to do it this way. You can turn each workout into an HIIT session but you can also do it at your own pace. You can even turn a TV on while you do it and watch a show so long as you keep on moving until the 10 minutes are up. Your goal is to put in the time, every day for 30 days.
