Avoiding getting bulky

I’m likely worrying unnecessarily. But I’d like some clarity on my understanding around workouts that are for strength and conditioning instead of cardio.

I am 46 year old south Asian male 5’4 and 63kg in weight. I want to get rid of the excess weight around the belly. But I don’t want to build mass. Just getting toned is the goal.

If I eat healthy without focusing on getting more protein in my diet via protein shakes and so on and do these workouts, will I be able to get strong without getting bulky?

This feels like a question that must have been answered before but a quick search didn’t return any results specific to my question.

I did read this. But all the mention of “build muscle” and “gain muscle” throughout the article has me worried I’d need to buy a new wardrobe if I am not careful :)

Rest assured, the amount of specific exercise required to gain mass like a bodybuilder is considerable, in addition to requiring protein supplements.
If you train "normally" you don't run that kind of risk ;)

I just realised I missed this extract which was in the article all along.

Bulk tip: Strength training alone will not give you bulk, not without a high protein diet, the most it will do is give you tone. Due to lack of testosterone women can’t get bulky doing strength training either. In order to build muscle the human body requires quality muscle building material - protein, and a lot of it.
