Beginner at almost 60, not fit and have heart failure
Hi
I used to be fit but never lean as I ate crap and with family inheritance of heart disease I ended up with heart failure and heart surgery back in 2019.
Now I’m ready to get fit and strong for my 61st birthday as not much time left to my 60th but I want to make a start. I tried to do a burpee the other day and a dying beetle would have done a better job.
The first part was me stepping down, no jump anymore. The press-up part was my body falling to the ground as no strength to support me. Then I raised myself back up from the waist as no chance my legs staying up as well. The jump into hands was me stepping in one leg at a time and the final jump was me just standing up looking for oxigen. Yes I failed miserably at one burpee but my body thought I’d done a marathon.
So any advice on where to start for a 59 & 3/4 year old male would be appreciated. On my 50 I cycled from Ireland to Spain , a lifetime ago now. Thanks

Start with the lighter programs, maybe cardio but not only - general fitness will allow you to feel better, and then you can get a feel for what you can and like. Hugs, take good care of your ticker tocker, and keep up the good work!
