Community Events, Rebuilt - Please Excuse the Dust
If you've been in the Haunted Hive this week you've noticed things changing under your feet. Buttons appeared. Monsters started flinching. The page you refreshed at breakfast was not the page you refreshed at lunch. That wasn't your browser. That was us.
Here's what happened. Every DAREBEE event used to be counted by hand. Moderators added up thousands of entries, we tallied the totals, badges were claimed one by one and somebody always forgot to claim theirs. This year we rebuilt the whole thing. Now everything you log shows up instantly, counts toward the goal on the spot and feeds a running feed of who did what. Badges are awarded for you the moment you take part. No more ticking a box in your profile and hoping you remembered.
A few things worth knowing:
Every event is different and each one has its own features. Haunted Hive fights monsters, Snowfight throws snowballs, Ornaments hangs ornaments on a live tree, and so on. We've also added two new pages: your personal Event Record with everything you've done across events and the Event Archive going back to 2022. Both are linked from the Special Badges section on your profile.
Everything that's scheduled is on the Hive Calendar. The permanent link lives under News & Announcements and in the What's New dropdown. Next up: Turkey Run 2026-11-20 10:00 (Athens time) to 2026-11-23 10:00 (Athens time), Ornaments 2026-12-10 10:00 (Athens time) to 2026-12-17 10:00 (Athens time) and Snowfight 2026-12-19 10:00 (Athens time) to 2026-12-22 10:00 (Athens time).
Now the honest part. This is as new to us as it is to you. We won't know what each event needs until we actually run it, so expect every one of them to grow while it's live, the same way the Hive did. If something looks wrong or flies off the handle, refresh the page first. We're probably uploading files. Still wrong after that? Post in the event thread and we'll fix it.
And please tell us what you think. What you liked, what annoyed you, what you wish the page did. Post in the event thread while it's running or in Suggestions afterwards. Every one of these events is going to run every year from now on, so anything you point out now makes next year better for everyone.

- All your reps count. Reps from a DAREBEE workout, program or challenge count toward the event just like extra reps do. If you already logged that workout on your dashboard, tick "Already in a workout I logged today" in the log box so it isn't counted twice. That's the only choice you need to make.
- Big entries wait for a moderator. Anything over 500 reps goes to a short review queue first. A greyed out pending bar isn't a bug, it's a moderator having a coffee.
- Made a mistake? Undo your entry and log again. It works even after a moderator approved it.
- Nothing is ever lost. Every event is backed up every night. If a badge doesn't show up we can add it by hand, but you shouldn't need us to.
