Valkyrie in Training

I've uprooted my whole life, moved states, begun a whole new job and it seems like a good time to start a fresh fitness adventure. Technically, I started yesterday (first of the month and all), but I will do my best to log my efforts here. I am logging my meals and calories in Cronometer (I had to abandon MFP, the changes were just stupid and the app became unusable) and am hoping to consume about 1500 calories daily. (I am not sure if this is a plausible deficit yet, based on activity and how much of an energy draw my new job is.)

Physical Goals:
1. Workouts every day (this includes active rest days)
2. 1500 calorie goal (to be adjusted)
3. 48oz of water daily (this is a minimum goal, I want to drink more but I feel like setting a goal for more is setting myself up to fail)

Personal Goals:
1. Read every day (I'm currently reading The Murder at the Grand Alpine Hotel by Lucy Foley)
2. Log my journey here at a consistent pace
3. Find a way to make a moment - just one moment - special every day

Yesterday's workout:
45 minute treadmill walk, 35mins of which was at an incline of 3 at 3.5 speed
Day 1 of Cardio & Abs
Post Workout Recovery Workout
Freya Workout
Pulldown machine: 4 sets of 8 reps at 25lbs
Pectoral fly machine: 4 sets of 8 reps at 25lbs
Shoulder press machine: 3 sets of 6 reps at 10lbs

Yesterday's moment of special: I got chocolate covered cherries and a tiny bottle of wine for dessert.

Today's workout:
45 minute treadmill walk, 35mins of which was at an incline of 3 at 3.5 speed
Day 2 of Cardio & Abs
Full Body Tone Workout
Post Workout Recovery Workout

Today's moment of special: I got a lovely smelling shower steamer and plan on taking a long, hot, luxurious shower.

See you all tomorrow.

Tuesday 3 November 2026

The temperature refuses to dip any further than 75degrees and I am trying not to complain about what is essentially lovely weather, but could someone please tell Mother Nature that it is officially autumn? I have cozy sweaters to break out of moth balls.

Today's moment of special: I have a fresh jar of honey citron tea, and on my lunch hour I am going to make myself a steaming hot cup, sit outside in the fresh air, and read my book. If I sit in the shade it might be just cool enough that I can pretend it's autumn.

I am also planning one of my favorite simple dinners, boxed mac and cheese with peas, so that's something to look forward to. My new apartment has a tiny two-burner stove and a mini fridge that's prone to icing over, so I'm having to be extra clever about food storage and fresh ingredients.
