Hello and welcome!

If you are just starting out and have a previous injury, you probably don't need those dumbbells just yet! I would suggest you begin with something that you can do consistantly for the next month. Start with building the habit to do something each day.

Maybe the Foundation Program suits you? Programs are a nice way to cut out the daily decision making (Am I going to exercise today? Which workout am I going to do?) and get started right away.

If that doesn't suit you, you can always come back here for more advice or try out different things on your own.

Like @Dyneti I'd suggest you start with Foundation or maybe even 30 days of LIIT (if you want some timers to help you frame your workout), it's a great way to dip your toes into regular exercise. If it feels to hard, do only 3 sets, or go to Foundaltion Light. If it feels too easy, complete it with 7 reps and next try a level, 3 workout. It is a habit worth taking! Also, maybe start a check in thread, it is a good motivator.
Welcome to the hive, and have fun improving yourself!

Sounds like you've already started.
As well as the programme suggested above, you could start simply by going for a walk. It's free, requires only a pair of comfy shoes, improve your cardiovascular fitness and your mood, and helps you get into the habit of moving more, which is really what it sounds like you're aiming to do.
Oh, and post a thread so you can tell us how you're progressing and we can cheer you on.

I am another "late in life" starter. :)

I started out with doing the daily exercise on the front page. It is usually short and easy, different each day for fun variety, and thus an easy way to get a daily habit going.

I soon started doing one set of the daily workout too (also different each day for variety), then ramp up to 2 sets, then to 3 sets.

Later I started doing the structured storyish programs e.g. Labyrinth and House of Valkyries.

And if you have an injury, be careful to let it rest and heal. Better to adapt exercise or do something else.

@beapilgrim I am almost the same as you. I would say a little bit worse actually. I will be 57 by the end of the month. And I am 167cm tall weighing 86kg. I started the Foundation program 12 days ago and I do it every morning before going to work. And of course I started by eating much more healthy around two months ago and sometimes also being a little bit hungry. I already lost one stone. Now I am thinking of finishing the Foundation program and ask the community what next program I should start after Foundation. The Foundation program comes with videos which are very helpful about how to do the exercises. Hope you start soon and start feeling better as I am. Good luck.
