I agree with
@graoumia . Food habits ("way of eating, WOE") is 85%+ of the effort to reduce fat mass aka body fat %.
I typically don't name it "diet" even though it is the correct word. Many negatively perceive this word as restrictive.
Exercise is GREAT for many reasons, and longevity and increasing metabolism, but will not directly melt the visceral fat around organs (which is why one gets most of it around the stomach and chest, it's pushing out the inner mass outward). Check out any of Dr. Sean O'Mara's short videos on YT to see what this is about (he shows MRI or CT scans and explains what happens inside). As the saying goes, you cannot outrun a bad diet.
The preferred way to change diet habits is to start gentle (unless you're an all-or-nothing personality type!) and I like Dr. Jason Fung for this. Either of his books and/or many of his interviews will explain how to begin and WHY, most importantly, the changes will be effective. He does not preach any specific WOE but does advocate removing ultra-processed foods and high-carb/starchy items, in general.
As for the gentle way to get into exercise, well, this is why I'm back here since yesterday
