Hip Stretch?

"Doing some introspection"
So Hive help me out. My outer hip is really tight enough so that it's making my knee hurt. This is the same tendon(?) that runs to the outside of the knee and ankle. You can feel it if you roll your foot such that your instep faces the other foot (my ankle rolls a lot so i know that connection/relation). I realize it could even be tight gluts/lower back but I'm not feeling it there. But either way, what are either some stretches/exercises or workouts that would help this?
