New iOS Notice Added - The Mystery of the Vanishing Progress, Solved

If you use DAREBEE on an iPhone or iPad and your dashboard or bookmarks ever vanished into thin air - it wasn't you and it wasn't us. It's just how iOS works.

Your progress and bookmarks live in your browser's local storage. It's private, it never touches our servers and it works beautifully. iOS however has a privacy feature that clears locally saved data for any website you haven't visited in 7 days. Great for keeping random sites from cluttering your phone. Less great when the "clutter" is two years of workout history. Take a two-week break, come back, and your dashboard greets you like a total stranger. This happens entirely on your device so there's nothing we can switch off on our end.

What we can do is warn you and give you ways around it. Starting today iOS users will see a one-time notice on the dashboard and bookmarks pages explaining the situation and offering three escape routes:
  1. Visit the site regularly - any visit within 7 days resets the timer
  2. Download a backup before a longer break - and restore it when you're back
  3. Install DAREBEE as an app on your home screen - the app version is exempt from the cleanup entirely
Read it, tap "I understand" and it's gone forever. If you're not on iOS you'll never see it at all and can carry on as if nothing happened. Because for you nothing did.

We don't have an iPhone in the house so we'd love some field reports from those of you who do:
  • A screenshot of how the notice looks on your device would make our day
  • Does it actually disappear for good after "I understand"?
  • If you try the app install - does your progress survive a 7+ day break in the app version? This is the one we're most curious about.
Anything odd, anything broken, anything that made you squint - we want to hear about it. Consider yourselves our official iOS department :thankyou:
