@astro_lizard @Fremen @Mamatigerj @Anek @graoumia @Laura Rainbow Dragon @NightTigress @Haleth Thank you!!!! :flowerkitty:

@NightTigress Well, I do like many types of jacks, I just get in my head about them. Ever since the plantar fasciitis event last year, I haven't really gotten fully comfortable with jumping jacks again. Here's my chance? :dkitty:

Tuesday, 4 November Wins: 1y 14d
Steps: 5,807/5,820

I am preemptively putting the ankle brace on for the jumping jacks. I've been doing a lot better overall, but it's probably not a bad idea.
Quick Warmup
:gstar: 30 Days of Cardio 1 lvl 2 - MINI POINT (I'm not feeling like an extra 20 jumping jacks)
:star: Better Abs 5
:rstar: Better Legs 22
20 squats, 20 calf raises, & 20 negative calf raises
:star: Push-Up Streak 4 - all full!
Upperbody Works+ lvl 1 +EC - 8 lbs - my left elbow was protesting a little on that last set. I am glad I did my push-ups first!
P (Kirra) - 15m Focus Flow: Floor Poses - I just was not feeling any of the remaining flows from 30DoY today, so I still did yoga, just not my program. TBH, I think I like my yoga guided.

In the rotation:
:rstar: 30 Days of Yoga (23)26 | :gstar: 30 Days of Cardio 2 | :rstar: Better Legs 23 | :star: Push-Up Streak 5 | :star: Better Abs 5

November boxes
:v: :rstar: Carryover item
:v: :gstar: 30 Days of Cardio
:v: 5k steps :x: 7k bonus?
:v: The mini
:v: :star: All daily challenges
Total: 18+5=23

**1** Completed programs & challenges
:star: Current writing total for the month: 8,003

I didn't even give myself a chance to talk myself out of it, just rolled straight into it out of the warmup. This was excellent decision. Now, did I push it to make it to lvl 2, yeah a little. Did I realize that I was almost done with the last bunch of jumping jacks and then perform the fastest 20 jumping jacks of the workout, YEAH I DID! So, part of the problem is definitely physical. But a lot of it was mental. Jumping jacks are friends, not a scary monster. Like burpees... just kidding. :imp:

Today was weird for a multitude of reasons that I will not go into. I am just ready for everything to return to normal. :break:

In other news, operation get caught up on logs is nearly complete. I think I have one or two that I was watching before my long break that I still want to get caught up on. My apologies for spamming notifications. :sendinglove::lovable:

Now, to give the kitties their medicine, get some dinner, and then settle into my writing! :float:

Okay, so many things added up to today's issues:
 (1) My sleep schedule is severely messed up - PLAN TO FIX IT: Stop letting myself sleep in as much. I will now be waking up at 6am for the next few days on my way to fixing the issue.
:kcoffee: (2) I have not been drinking enough fluids the past few days - PLAN TO FIX IT: Drink as much as I can until around 9pm (so for the next hour), and do much better about it tomorrow. It's already too late today to fix it entirely.
:type: (3) All I want to do is write, but I have to do other things too. Like make dragons for my Etsy store. And take new pictures for the store. Oh, and I need to restructure some of my listings. - My current plan has been 30m of chainmail after eating dinner while watching tv with M. That's been okay. But also, I know that the writing thing is very easily lost to me, so I at the same time want to take advantage of being in the groove.
:tuzki-count: (4) Work is weird. I can't fix that.

I'm going to take the plans for (1) & (2) and that's easy. I know what I want for (3), but I also had wanted more dragons in my shop before the holidays hit. And it's not like I haven't made any progress, I just haven't finished any! I've got the parts almost all made, I just need to do the bodies and assembly on like 4 of them. Maybe I'll make a dedicated day to that on Sunday. Yeah, that sounds like a plan. Okay, keep up the 30m of work until Sunday. On Sunday, focus on finishing what I can. Bam. I can do this. Thanks for listening. :sendinglove:

Thursday, 6 November Wins: 1y 16d

Things that went well today:
  • I cleaned most of my house
  • I got allergy shots and had good talk with the weight loss doc.
  • Intermittent fasting seems to be working for me. I've actually been feeling better and I lost two inches and two pounds since I saw my doc last. Now, to see if the trend continues!
  • I drank 137 oz of fluids, mostly water, which is slightly off because my app counts stuff weird sometimes, but it's only 2oz short of where the app says I need to reach for my height/weight/activity level
  • I didn't sleep past 0700. It wasn't the desired 0600, but I had a really hard time sleeping last night, so I took the extra hour. I'll get up at 0600 tomorrow.
  • I cleaned things hadn't been cleaned in a while, motivated M to do some super cleaning as well, and I fetched dinner instead of having it be delivered.
  • Cats are feeling better
Overall, I am happy with today. I did want to do more things, but I just finished my writing (it took 2 hours tonight) and I was tired when I sat down to do that. I'll get some good sleep and get at minimum my challenges & mini done in the morning. I'll also get my steps fixed. Oh, and I considering taking on 30 Days of Cardio Light for when I am lower energy. I'm going to keep entertaining the idea. Day 1 looked like fun. (Funny how step jacks and side jacks look like fun, but jumping jacks make me avoidant. Hmm.... food for self-reflection.)

Good night!

When I started my workout, I had 0 intention of doing 30DoC. It was unfathomable. But then I felt like I could do more after BA6, so I pulled it back up and I was all about it. Somewhere along the way, my mindset switched. Interesting!

Oh, and no ankle support today. I think the support helped to give my ankle the time to rest that it needed. And thank you to the Labyrinth for making butt kicks less of an evil.

And I didn't do anything in the morning, but I did it all today, which makes it a very good day!! Now off to get my hydration on and enjoy the rest of my afternoon!

Lots of car time today and a good Friendsgiving D&D session. Well, mostly good. I am really getting frustrated with one of the people in the party. I am mostly keeping it to myself, but they really think that their character is completely indispensable to the party and that we would TPK every session without them. I also think that they are exploiting a DM blindspot in regard to the use of their character. Our DM did make a comment about committing time to learning some of the classes he's less knowledgeable about, so I think he's on to them. I am annoyed by the cockiness, but mostly because it makes the rest of us feel like we must be deadweight players in comparison. It's quite disheartening.

On the workout front, I am glad I took the bike ride this morning. It really helped to wake me up and kept me committed to a set period of time for working out.

Alright, enough of that. Time to get some words on the page before my head hits the pillow.

Not only did I not meditate Monday night, but then I found that I couldn't sleep until 3am. But I did a bulk of Tuesday's writing in that time of being awake, so it made writing easier. However, this all resulted in this day being less than ideal.

Low energy workout really late in the evening. Lol, not my best plan, but it was how the day shook out.

M really, really wanted to do shakes, but he also tried to talk me out of doing them with him. So, weird - we're in this together honey! So that's not fun and will tank my energy reserves a little, but I'm still going to try to get a ride in tomorrow. I'll just need to time it right.

Okay, I think it's time to get my butt to bed.

Okay, today was just weird then bad:
  • Worked a half day starting at lunch time - yea, that was weird and made it oh so difficult to get into the groove
  • I forgot to take my ADHD medicine because I wasn't going to work in the morning, so that helped 0 things
  • Shakes + work = so hungry that I can't even think straight by 1530
  • And I had a major headache since 1530 that only went away for about 1.5 hours after I had dinner shake + half an avocado
  • I was just so low energy that it was all I could do to lay on the floor and try to stretch out my hips and legs.
So, we decided to cut shakes a day short. I feel bad for skipping out early on it, but on the other hand, today was bad. Shakes aren't so bad over the weekend when I can be distracted by the millions of things to do home and sleep in a little to push back the timing of the first shake and the second shake by a little. It was by mutual agreement that we would finish the day then fast until after appointments in the morning and have a light & late breakfast tomorrow.

As for Peloton's Countdown to Turkey day badge, I think I am going to stop trying. Everything is just so big and badass and I can't even earn like a silver teir badge (because there is only one teir of badge this time) - it's just me adding extra pressure to myself that is not going well. I'm just going to enjoy the new content that I want to enjoy and go from there.

Tomorrow will be better. I can feel it.

And then I forgot to post it last night.

Thank you!! :morelove:

It's been a while since I've been this deep into writing a story and still enjoying it. I'm halfway to the traditional 50k goal for this month and barely feel like I've hit the action, which is very awesome. Now, if only I could figure out how to write like this when it's not November, that would be a real trick! :bigyes:

As for the shakes, I think I needed to hear that. I'm pretty sensitive to my sugar levels in general and it's the only thing that will make me early abort intermittent fasting too (which I was not doing at the same time as Shake Protocol). I also think that I was probably using extra energy from being back in my freezing office and it just didn't help anything. I solemnly swear that I am not beating myself up about it, I just hate quitting things. Although, I was very happy to have real food today. :noming:

Friday, 14 November Wins: 1y 24d
Allergy Shot - I'm going to resume adding this in because I'm starting to get into the more intense part of the buildup and I need to have the reminder that it is okay to take it easier on these days if necessary.
Steps: 7,521/5,520

Before dinner: 45 minutes of Beat Saber - you know what, I am expanding my extra bonus points to be 15m+ non-program cardio - So, bike rides (indoor or outdoor), walks (yeah, these count. I'm back in the office, let's get some steps in), Beat Saber, and Just Dance. Maybe I'll break that out too. The real goal was to get me to do more things and surprise my body some more, which all of this will accomplish. Anyway, ***Cardio Point*** & counts towards squats in the mini - I did way more than 20
:star: Push-Up Streak 13 - 10|20|20 counter push-ups over the course of the rest of the evening. My arms are very tired.

So, I have a Garmin watch and I had run the Cardio recording routine while playing Beat Saber and it decided that I had been sprinting (anaerobic benefit) and that I had been working on improving speed. This amuses me greatly. Though, it's been a while since I was that drenched in sweat, so it was worth it.

But now I have to clean up my craft room, because I was utterly convinced that we had stashed the base station cables in there. We hadn't so, I clearly didn't find them and I made a gigantic mess in there looking for them.

Oh, I've noticed the new Zodiac themed workouts. Taurus, Scorpio, and Libra look so awesome, I think I'm going to try to work them out this week for fun.

I'm not sure what I'll get up to tomorrow, but I'm sure it will be great.

Today, the weather threw me a really bad headache. I started out okay, but by lunch, my head really hurt. It never even rained, but the pressure has finally lifted. Stealing some words in the rest periods for 30DoCL was very amusing and actually helped me through a sticky spot.

Hydration and taking it easy were the main goals today and I think I succeeded there and still managed to get some of my boxes checked off!

@f1shie On the general, my posture is pretty decent. Until I have a headache at my desk at work, then I'm shrimping, just trying to survive. Or when I end up chainmailing at an event because then I end up crunched up in strange positions because I never remember to bring a table to work from.

Sunday, 16 November Wins: 1y 26d
14hr fast
Steps: 8,604/5,540

Quick Warmup
40m Beat Saber ***Cardio Point*** & mini's squats
:gstar: 30 Days of Cardio Light 4 lvl 3 - I'm not a huge fan of march jacks. I keep wanting to go faster, but there's only so fast you can go. 🤣 And I also told myself that I didn't need to do this but did it anyway
20 jumping jacks, 20 calf raises, & 20 negative calf raises

:rstar: 30 Days of Yoga 26 - I replaced #5 with Happy Baby and #7 with Waterfall, because I wasn't up for trying to balance on my butt for #5 and I am not yet anywhere near #7 being viable (I'm not sure how to get there safely and I wasn't going to find the necessary material right now) - I am not playing catch up today

THERE WE GO!!!! That was an awesome workout. Beat Saber was a bit slower than Friday, but still enjoyable. I think I may need to get a fresh face gasket and I need to relearn how to set the device on my head properly, but it was still fun. I just figured out that I didn't finish the campaign (I totally forgot about it), so I tricked myself into two more songs with that.

Why am I telling myself to not play catch up? Because I'm already overdoing it today. So, I'm making myself not do a million things just because I still feel like I can do more.

I'm going to try to start using the VR a little more partly because I have some cool games for it that I want to play and partly because I love Beat Saber. So, that should help earn me a little more free movement. Well, as much as I can until I have to stop due to cybersickness sets in. Beat Saber seems to sidestep that very nicely, so yay!

I'm still very happy with my writing. It is, as usual, trending towards a romance vibe, but I'm going to try to convince my characters to slow play it a little and let the actual plot have some time to breathe. I'll just have to see what El'ryk and Miri think about that. Sometimes, being a pantser is a burden. Though, unlike some of the things I have written, I do have a future event I know about so it's kinda interesting seeing how my characters are growing and hopefully they'll be able to rise to the occasion.

Anytime you don't feel up for trying shoulder stand it is always a good idea to do waterfall instead. Waterfall is a way safer pose with pretty much all the same benefits. (Honestly, shoulder stand is pretty much waterfall for show-offs. I personally will not teach the pose because, for most people, it's just not safe.)

#5 is a variation on boat pose. You can see some other variations here. It's primarily for core strengthening. (Although, if you do it with extended legs, it's obviously working them too.)

That is precisely the vibe I got. I was just improvising in the moment, but when I looked it up on PocketYoga, I couldn't see the extra benefit of going into shoulder stand. I would hazard a guess that it requires extra strength for stabilization, as well as being able to ensure the weight is properly over the shoulders and not the neck, which was totally my concern with the pose.
I personally will not teach the pose because, for most people, it's just not safe.)
I want to say I have seen it in a yoga class like 6 years ago. She had us do it against a wall and only with supervision and if we were comfortable doing it. I was far more flexible at that point. I could still get into Wheel pretty easily. I haven't even tried doing that lately. I actually didn't even know Wheel was an advanced pose until now, which is probably why I surprised my yoga instructor the first time I popped into it.
#5 is a variation on boat pose.
Boat is hard. I usually end up in Half Boat. I'll substitute a boat variation next time. This time, I think Happy Baby worked nicely for me given all my computer time yesterday.

Yeah. Shoulder stand is a controversial pose in yoga because it is dangerous for the neck, but it is also worshipped in some schools of yoga as "the queen" of yoga poses. Some yoga teachers definitely feel pressured to teach it, and have developed methods to make the pose accessible to more people (and hopefully also a bit safer), by using a wall, and/or propping one's shoulders (but not head) up on a folded blanket. (This latter is done so neck flexion in the pose is not as extreme.)

Explaining that a given pose is an "advanced" pose, and students should not feel pressured to attempt it if they don't feel ready, demonstrates an intention on the instructor's part to keep her students safe. But the reality is that a lot of yoga practitioners are competitive and will take the term "advanced" as a challenge. So I choose to err on the side of caution. I don't accept that "tradition" is inherently good in any context--especially not one in which an activity was developed during a time when we possessed much less scientific knowledge re: how a human body works than we do now, and when human bodies were significantly different than they are today due to changes in our diet and lifestyle. So where a safe alternative for a high risk pose exists, I'm going to take it.

Boat is hard. I usually end up in Half Boat. I'll substitute a boat variation next time. This time, I think Happy Baby worked nicely for me given all my computer time yesterday.
Any time one thinks Happy Baby is a good substitute for a different pose, Happy Baby is a good substitute. You know what your body needs.

That's it. Short and sweet day. I had scribal with the SCA guys this evening, so I made sure I got a work walk. Then I spent 1.5 hours this evening typing up everything I wrote by hand today. It was actually really awesome. I might be doing more long hand/transcribing tomorrow.

For now, I am utterly exhausted.

I was way too tired to post yesterday, so here's yesterday:

:star: Current writing total for the month: 38,422 - I am now 5 days ahead of schedule!!!!!!!! Now, I'm just going to go for as much as I can. This story is turning out to be my new obsession. I literally cannot sleep at night and I have had a hard time focusing on work because of both the lack of sleep and my MCs clamoring for me to keep writing.
=================
It was a rough day.
  • I couldn't sleep until nearly midnight
  • I'm just getting back into the work wake up time and it is kicking my butt
  • It was a cold and rainy day
  • We had to take a major detour to get home
  • I handwrote 5 pages in my notebook (B5 sized), so I felt compelled to spend 2.5 hours transcribing my notes. Which was good, but I, uh, didn't do anything else in the evening
I'm just going to ride the wave and I'm also going to start maintaining my alarm through the weekend to help get my sleep schedule adjusted. I have also decided that boxes are a mere formality this month, because it's a tough month for me and that's okay. I'll take what I can and it will be enough.

I only ate two meals today and I'm feeling it. I had an interesting chat with the doctor I visited today, so we're going to run some tests. We'll see if anything shakes out. I am so glad that tomorrow is my last workday for the week, I need the weekend to reset. I already warned M that I am getting up at the same time on the weekends. I literally cannot have another week like this next week (even though I'm only working Monday and Tuesday).

NaNo is coming along, though it was much slower going today. That's okay, I was due a slower day. And I doodled quite a bit, drawing my MCs dancing. At least I now know what they both look like.

Okay, I really must go pass out now. I'm so sleepy. :corner::crawl::zzz:

Exercise front continued from above -
... because my energy is still low and I actually finished typing up my 5 handwritten pages today in like 1.5 hours and I needed a real break from writing. Also, I am intensely surprised at how long I lasted. Turning down the brightness, which I did two sessions ago, really has a positive impact.

Sleep front -
Still terrible. I'm going to go eat a GABA gummy (Olly Destress), since those work for me to quiet the ADHD buzz a little, and pull up a sleep meditation. I'll pick a 15min to count towards 30DoY

Writing front -
I actually told myself to day to chill it on writing on my breaks at work, but it was an incredibly slow day, so I after I wrote about a page and a half in the waiting room at the doctor's office at lunch time, I let it be when I got back to my desk in the afternoon. Things are beginning to pick-up overall: the mini boss is about to be confronted, the MCs are arguing about why they can't be together until after the mini boss is defeated (she says let's go, he says must wait), and the big bad is still barely mentioned. Apparently MC 2 knows a fair amount about the big bad, but he can't tell MC 1 because the mini boss told him not to... my characters are weird.

Also, I still don't have a title for my book. Nothing has sparked my inspiration on that front. But I have been inspired to doodle my characters multiple times now. I haven't doodled my characters for a NaNo in so long, I am really invested and it's very awesome. I'll have to finish the one I started of them dancing yesterday, but in the meantime, I'm actually quite proud of how the base of the drawing turned out.

On this day, I just felt like I had been run over by a stampede of wild animals. I had slept 9 hours, which helped alleviate the sleep debt I've been carrying, but with the stormy weather and my body actually having enough sleep, I felt horrible. I cuddled on the couch for hours, doing chainmail until my hands were sore, and then I managed to get up and write, but everything else, including chores and going to paint banners, was put to the wayside. It was a tough day.

Because if I stop, I'll lose the momentum. I am NOT losing the momentum. Uh, but it feels weird to win tomorrow with an Untitled work, but the title still hasn't come to me.
=================
I am here and alive and I'll be okay.

Goals for tomorrow:
* Work walk. These need to be a thing at home as well, but I just need to start working on the habit. I've got this, just one step at a time.
* Drink all the water. No excuses. I don't care if it's tea, water, or even Gatorade (I know I have one stashed at my desk). I need to drink all the fluids tomorrow. I am so bad at this in the winter.
* Be kind to myself.

Good news - the scans the doctor wanted to do on Friday came back negative.
What's going on - I don't really want to get too deep into it, but there is something medically up with me and my menses right now and it's probably part of what is going on with me in general. Doc thinks it's a spike and it'll soon stabilize, but we are talking about it and doing some investigating, so I feel good that we are being proactive.

=================
Okay, I have written a ton of pages today that I need to go type up. Today was better overall, but I still need to do better.

Sleep - Not great, but it will get better on Wednesday when I can sleep in a little and get things done early for an early bedtime. This will overall get better once I get this book all on paper.
Hydrating - Better, but not great. I will be packing a few extra drinks in my bag tomorrow.
Walk - I did it!!! Now, to do it again tomorrow!

Now, to get to transcribing and then to bed!! :type: UPDATE: Transcribing is going so good, that I won't finish tonight. I still have another 4.5 pages left to do, so I'll update today's number again after I have typed it all up. It might not be until Wednesday that I get it all fixed up. UPDATE 2: That was 4,442 words, plus some transcribing embellishments, making it currently my top scoring day for this NaNo.
