Anyone using a treadmill in extra? I tend to use one for walking indoor at times when going outside is not possible for me.

As I have fibromyalgia, it is not easy to keep exercising, nor moving in general. But I would like to intrude something to do/use daily to get in shape again.
A better shape leads to less pain...

What are your experiences? I'd love to discuss this.

Thanks all! Keep up the good work!

Hi @Friday

I did some research I found Mayoclinic
  • Exercise regularly. At first, exercise may increase your pain. But doing it gradually and regularly often decreases symptoms. Appropriate exercises may include walking, swimming, biking and water aerobics. A physical therapist can help you develop a home exercise program. Stretching, good posture and relaxation exercises also are helpful.

@Friday hi and welcome to the community!

It's extremely useful. I use my treadmill almost daily. I work from home so I don't move as much as a regular person (except my workouts) so it's a real lifesaver for me. If you can walk from 30 to 60 minutes a day it's an ideal fat-burning window. We also have walking challenges and a program if you want to do something more consistent.

I hope this helps!

Welcome to the Hive @Friday !

As @neilarey said, if you use your treadmill, it is extremely useful! Walking is a great exercise for most of us, and having a treadmill at home lowers the barriers for actually doing it, since you don't need to worry about the weather, or traffic, or how much time you have, or even what you're wearing. It also allows for multi-tasking (listening to a podcast/news/music/audio book, talking on a cell phone, watching television, reading, etc.) while walking in a much safer environment than doing so out on the street.

Here's my first post. I chose this one because I saw the word 'chronic', then looked up Fibromyalgia, and Ingrid (Friday) the FibroWarrior on a Mission instantly became my first source of inspiration and motivation (since joining the community about 10 minutes ago ;-) Whether you use the treadmill or not, the mere fact that you're thinking about it speaks volumes about your character. Bravo.

To qualify my statement about the 'chronic'... I used to be an animal! Amateur Boxer, top 250 x-country running UK (6-10 miles) 8 pack abs. Then I got working, developed a few bad habits and to cut a long story short, I got 'Chronic Sinusitis' Doesn't sound too bad does it. I didn't think so either. So these nasal polyps started growing and the only treatment for them is Prednisolone, which is a steroid drug. Which... leads to Osteoporosis. Which means that now, I can't even do a crunch. or a sit up, or anything that twists me sideways or forwards. I don't have any pain... but the mere thought that my bones are turning into crunchies (for the non-British that's Honeycombed) and one false move could result in a spinal fracture... it sure does make you think! It's made me think so much that I stopped trying completely... hence the admiration for you, Ingrid. So, now I'm here, let's see how my mindset develops.
p.s. Ingrid, I feel like I hijacked your post, so here's a little pic that may help you conjure up some healing potions when you need them

Fibromyalgia

Chronic disorder of unknown etiology characterized by pain, stiffness, and tenderness
Fibromyalgia is a medical syndrome that causes chronic widespread pain, accompanied by fatigue, awakening unrefreshed, and cognitive symptoms. Other symptoms can include headaches, lower abdominal pain or cramps, and depression. People with fibromyalgia can also experience insomnia and general hypersensitivity. Wikipedia
