A Paladin getting back into fighting shape

Hello everyone and welcome.

I’m Silverwoulf and my life’s been a bit much in recent years.
Due to Covid and undiagnosed ADHD (finally got my diagnosis this year) I flunked out of university, had my meniscus explode on me at work, and fell into severe depression. Then I came out as trans, and isn’t that a fun thing to do to yourself, got cast out of my family more or less, and started an apprenticeship as a greenhouse and ornamental gardener.

Things had been looking up, I am working towards gender affirming surgery, finished my apprenticeship with flying colours and worked with a great team.

Over the last two months both my father and grandfather died, and depression got bad again. I am still unmedicated for my ADHD, and the food and sugar addiction has me in a choke hold for emotional stability and coping.

I am now out of work (I only got a 12 month contract after the apprenticeship) and will start mastery school in September.
Thus I need and want to use these two months to get my life back on track, especially fitness and food wise. My father died of a heart attack at 61 (and they never found out what caused his blood to clot since he was 18). Being fat I am at a higher risk of ending up like him, and I don’t want that.

So here we are. 36, one parent down and the other being full on transphobic, fat, and desperate to get my life back on track. Loosing weight will also help with better surgery results. But I don’t want to focus solely on weight loss. I want to build muscle and endurance too. I want to be fit and healthy first and foremost.

________

To keep my nerdy ADHD ass interested I will gamify the workouts a bit. As a paladin-main DnDer I want to fit them to the class a bit.

Endurance and strength are also a big goal, which fits. Being in armour all day slaying monsters and evil.

I will start with the Beginner Workouts:

Monday: Soft Launch Level 1
Wednesday: Guard Duty Level 1
Friday: Mr Grinch Level 1
Rest days and for warm-up I will do a basic Yoga set in the morning and evening. I will also go on a walk every day.

Depending on how things are going I might switch from the Beginner Workouts earlier than the 6 weeks or add more workout days.

Now for diet things are way harder.
I have to keep my food addiction in check, especially the binge eating, and beat the sugar addiction (this one will be hard).

Before Covid and the injury I was fit as a fiddle and on a Paleo diet which worked great. Fully cutting out carbs isn’t healthy though so I will just add small portions. What is important is that I eat a protein rich breakfast because this has proven to work great against the cravings and binge attacks.
As recommended by my therapist I will first focus on eating three healthy meals a day instead of freaking out over calories. Once I have that down I can start counting calories, if at all.

If anyone has tips and recipes, they are very welcome, BUT I am allergic to all stone and pip fruits (unless cooked), chickpeas, and am also lactose intolerant.

____________

I have done 3 already.
Struggling a bit with doing the Yoga because I forget by the time it is evening, but at least I am doing everything else I planned.
____________

For now, have a great day everyone, till next time.

Hello and welcome!

Update:
Well,
I guess I fell of the wagon again.

Spend a week at a friend's place, but at least I got my steps in there.
And now I am packing up my whole flat, so I moved the workout to carrying boxes down 4 flights of stairs into my cellar room.

I hope that I can back into it, again, soon. At least the yoga is going okay-ish.

But I knew going in that I would struggle with the routine of it all.

Maybe you need time to find a routine that suits you, and you can adjust. Having your steps, and yoga wo is already a nice accomplishment
