Issues with Post-Workout Cooldown

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you all are having a very pleasant day. đź–¤

I recently began following Darebee’s 30-day light cardio program for beginners. However, for the past few days, I am noticing that I experience muscle soreness hours after completing my workout. I cool down after my workouts, and sometimes I will use this cool down that Darebee provides, but I still feel pain in my muscles, specifically in my arms and upper thighs, which are areas that I work on during my exercises. Does anyone have general advice on how to address this issue? If anyone knows of any effective cool downs, whether on Darbee or another site, I would appreciate the information. Thank you very much in advance for any suggestions or advice. (:

I'll leave the answers about exercises to help with that to those who are more experienced than me.

What I can recommend, because I used it for muscle pain and stiffness when I did martial arts and more intense strength training, is that you try Red Tiger Balm (Be careful, not the White one, which is way more mentholated and used like a super VapoRub).
You can find it at any pharmacy or sports store, and just applying a little bit will warm up your muscles and help relax them a lot.
Plus, in my completely subjective opinion, it smells great!

Hello,

I am not an expert but having some pain after exercices, specialy new ones and after a period without any training is normal. Your body makes adaptation in order to be fitter. If it’s to painfull perhaps you can reduce the load by doing your exercices at level 1. I follow a program myself and experience soreness too. It’s perfectly normal.

You need good rest (having enough sleep) and eat healty as possible.

I Hope it helps.

Happy training !

These are just a few, I use the last one which I find very good, it covers the whole body, can be done standing up and is quick. :)

Thank you very much for the reassurance, Anon. I merely hope that I am not doing anything wrong during my cool-downs, haha.
Fortunately, I do not experience excruciating pain at all; it's just soreness here and there. If it does worsen, I will definitely heed your advice and reduce the load. (:
I deeply appreciate your advice again, Anon. I hope all is well with you. đź–¤

Thank you for providing all these Darebee cool-down workouts; you’re so helpful and generous, Fremen.
I will look into them when I get a chance, especially the last one. I hope you have a really amazing day. (:

Others have already given great advice. The only thing I wanna add on is to keep in mind what kinda pain you are having. If it's a dull soreness, agreed with the above. If it's a sharp one, though, I'd be more careful. That could be a sign of over doing it and you don't want to risk damaging, so I'd recommend lowering the intensity and maybe take a day's break.

This may also be a good excuse for a nice relaxing epsom salt bath to treat yourself. ^_^
