Reading about it is not doing it. Planning it is not doing it. Thinking about it is not doing it.
I went to the gym today. First time in a year? Two? Birthday last month. 56. What am I waiting for?
I read so many of these training logs, and think, "I could do that." But I don't. I'm not sure where to find my motivation. I've tried so many different things to kickstart my goal life. What is my goal? I worked in a Retirement Home for a little while. Do I want to age like that??? So what do I have to do? Exercise. Eat well. Sit less. Move more. Use my brain, but more importantly, treat my body like it deserves - the only home I'll always have.
I've read Younger Next Year by Chris Crowley. An excellent book. A workbook for my next act. My big picture goal? Retire in Scotland. But I want to be able to enjoy it - active, fit, healthy. I don't care how much I weigh other than how my knees feel. I don't care what my body looks like, only what it can do.
So I'll start this here, today. My own accountability. I went to the gym today, 15 minutes treadmill, the 20 minute fix (lower body only) to measure my starting point (weights, reps), 5 minutes on the rower. Intermittent fasting (18 hours)
Day 1, Level 1 Square 1
Right knee is delicate. Need to treat it with extreme care & caution. Avoid the dreaded knee replacement. Giving up bread & Coca-Cola for Lent was hard, but still managing it (tempted last night, but refrained).
