FoP work - catch up from yesterday and I played some today. Took lots of breaks and truly, I am surprised I did it all, albeit with minor modifications. It was the only thing I told myself to work on today, so I am happy

Shelved for today:

Feeling a bit better today. So, I did some stuff. Okay, I did more than I thought I would and I also got all the laundry done. Still bummed to not go fencing today, but I know from what I did accomplish today that I would have been struggling a lot.

I need to play super catch up on reading all of you, but I will get there!

:sendinglove: Keep on being awesome and I'll catch you next time!

Sunday, 16 February Wins: 118 days
:x: Journal
Steps: 5,565/7,880
:x: 10m of writing

First Things:
0830 - Woke up at 0530, told myself to get more rest and it worked.
:x: First Thing Water ==mm==
:x: Morning Foot stretches
:x: Foot rolly thingy

P (Tunde) [Arms with Tunde 9/19] - 5m Upper Body Warm Up
P (Tunde) [Arms with Tunde 10/19] - 10m Arms & Shoulders Strength - 5lb - magic number 74 alternating hammer curls - Bronze badge achieved; 1 down, 2 to go!
P (Tunde) [Arms with Tunde 11/19] - 15m Arms & Shoulders Strength - 5lb medium & 8lb heavy - magic number: 5 sets of 10 hammer curls + 10 tricep pushups, for a total of 50 hammer curls and 50 tricep pushups - Week 2 completed
P (Rebecca) - 5m Upper Body Stretch
And then I ran out of energy
:v: Icy foot rolly thingy

Shelved for today:
Standing Abs 26
Express Tone 8
Everest 16
Kick Master 10
Iron Arms 7
30 Days of Change 23

Last Things:
==mm== Counting Victories - I pushed a little and I don't feel terrible.
:x: Some ball foot rolling
:x: Evening Foot stretches

I've decided to just do what I can until I clean up my queue. Arms with Tunde will be a main focus, just because it is time sensitive. (No more doubling up on it though.) Walks are not being limited, guided or otherwise, because they are good for my mental health and my step goals. I wanted to try to get one more workout focused thing done today, but I am noodle armed and low on spoons. (Maybe, I'll get Standing Abs. I'll edit in if I do it.)

The 'cold' seems to have vanished for the most part. The fatigue and a light headache are still hanging on a little, but the cough is gone. Probably knock the rest of that out with another good night of sleep, which the above exercise will definitely have helped with and I should be back to normal here shortly.

:sendinglove: Keep on being awesome and I'll catch you next time!

Steps: 4,904/7,420
:v: 10m of writing - YES YES YES!!

First Things:
0700 - Not bad, I'll take it considering the night I had
:v: First Thing Water ==mm==
80 incline climbers -> Everest 16 (80/540)
:v: Morning Foot stretches
:v: Foot rolly thingy

TODAY'S FOCUS - Challenges

Throughout the day:
Standing Abs 26 - side bends are just so bleh. That is why I've been avoiding Standing Abs. Don't know if I'm just bending too far? Whatevs. I'm nearly done with them.
40 incline climbers -> Everest 16 (120/540)
Standing Abs 27
60 incline climbers -> Everest 16 (180/540)
Posture - 30 seconds each instead of 20 seconds
90 incline climbers -> Everest 16 (270/540)
Iron Arms 7 - oof, my arms feel that
60 incline climbers -> Everest 16 (330/540)
Standing Abs 28 - huh, those were better. Squeezed my glutes, watched how far I was pushing the bend. Yup. That definitely felt better.
90 incline climbers -> Everest 16 (420/540)
Standing Abs 29
60 incline climbers -> Everest 16 (480/540)
Standing Abs 30 :completed:
60 incline climbers -> Everest 16 (540/540)

Shelved for today:
Express Tone 8
Kick Master 10
30 Days of Change 23
[Arms with Tunde] - taking a rest day

Last Things:
==mm== Counting Victories - Productive day. :)
:v: Some ball foot rolling
:v: Evening Foot stretches

Sleep Checkin - I listened/watched to too many spooky things that just hit me in the wrong way yesterday afternoon/evening and I just couldn't go to sleep. And then Erebus started messing with a toy in the laundry basket (which M figured out in the morning) and it kept waking me up just as I would fall asleep. So, very disturbed sleep last night. I do also know better than to listen to spooky things after sundown, but I didn't listen to my own rules.:sadkitty:

Spoilers for gross things
So, that lead to me switching out the book I was listening to a different one. I think my limit for listening to The Mountain Man series is 2 days consecutively. More than that, and I start thinking the noises in my house are zombies. But that's not what got me this time. Main character had his teeth knocked out and then had to pull out the roots that remained and it just messed with me. And the show I watched had eyes missing from a corpse and they showed it and that always gets me. I didn't expect this to be a thing, so I thought watching The Three Body Problem would be fine because sci-fi. Though, definitely one of those times when I am waffling between finishing it and finding the book and reading it then watch it. Usually, I just watch something happy-go-lucky and then go to bed if the gross things occur, just to get the worst part of the imagery out of my head, but I was tired and just wanted to go to bed. :panic:

On a happier note, I finished the last two Adventures in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes this morning, so now I am moving on the Memoirs. And I listened a repeat from Steve McHugh's Hellequin Universe - A Flicker of Steel. Love all the books.:lovelots:

I wrote long form for an unknown amount of time, but definitely more than 10 minutes. Just laid there on the floor, listening to Murray Gold and just letting the words flow. Two whole pages in ink, so no erasing. It felt like coming home. This is how I wrote my first story. Just me with pens and paper. No obsessing over word count or how long I was writing for. :shine:

:sendinglove: Keep on being awesome and I'll catch you next time!

I was doing pretty good today. I got stuff done. I saw the weight loss doctor and she was happy to see that I lost weight - finally. Picked up dinner on the way home after M had a crazy day at work. I emptied the food from the bag and I put the bag down on the electric stove, where it caught fire like 2 minutes later. Absolutely terrifying. Nothing in my home is damaged (except a little melting on my lunchbox), but talk about a scary experience. Current theories are (a) one of us bumped the knob and turned it on OR (b) a cat some how managed to do it. Regardless, I'll be installing barriers that will exist between the knob and the faceplate. PREVENTING ANY MORE FIRES. :onfire:

:v: Some ball foot rolling
:x: Evening Foot stretches

Well, it was a day. We had an after action meeting about Mandatory Fun Day and while I was glad to attend and provide feedback, I definitely didn't expect it to take 2 hours. Then, I went and opened my mouth and gave out more opinions about how I feel about AI in my line of work. So, I guess my team understands me a little better now, as does the older lady who was beginning to think about using AI as a shortcut for her work. Which I fully expect her to still do, but honestly, its not my problem. I am not her boss, just a coworker. I think that AI is full of potential for good, but I am afraid that it is the gateway to the loss of human creativity and the ability to do things ourselves. And I am afraid of the bad actors that will use it in a way that is damaging. Well, I guess I'll have to see what the fallout is on that. Then, to wrap up the day, I gave the lady in charge of the AAR for Mandatory Fun Day a clarification on a point I was woefully inarticulate about in the meeting. I am glad I did it, but again, worried about the fallout.

I feel oddly out of sorts, giving so many opinions today. I usually keep such things to myself. Well, mostly to myself. I kvetch and grouse to M mostly. So, it was actually liberating to some extent.

Yep. I'm especially concerned given how much power the tech oligarchs have already accrued onto themselves.
It's definitely something to keep our eyes open about!

Honestly, not too much to report for this day. Easy day at work, had late lunch/ early dinner (linner? :chuckle:) with my teammates. I ran some much needed errands, including toys for the kitties because I was in the pet store for food. Erebus has a new collar now, but I don't have a picture of him with it yet. Then I watched TV with M for the rest of the evening. Pretty low energy day.

Today, my mind was much quieter. Less worried and less overwhelmed. I figured out that my sense of foreboding was coming from a lack of control and the possibility of big change. And it's not that I have any more control today than I did yesterday, but the knowing that I've just got to keep putting one foot in front of the other. That no matter what, I will be okay. I've just got have a little faith.

It's not entirely unusual for me to suddenly flip perspectives like this. I always feel more centered once I figure out what was setting me spiraling, regardless of if the matter was resolved or not.

Now, if I could just figure out the secret to getting a good night sleep, everything would be perfect. ;) :zzz:

Skipped ahead a little on 30DoC because I thought I was going to workout with Tunde this evening. Until about an hour after the second walk when everything was sore. I am still sore all over, but mostly in my butt and legs. So, my experiment yesterday was correct. I can start working in more full speed butt kicks, high knees, and full speed climbers. However, I also need to remember that I have been doing low impact and that it is going to take me a little bit to get back to where I was before I got hurt.

Mental state appears to have stabilized. Sleep is as elusive as usual. I plan to let myself sleep as long as I need to tomorrow. Which probably won't be past 0700, but that's fine. I can already tell you that I am going to have a hard time falling asleep tonight. Because I just finished doing calligraphy for a scroll for my SCA event this weekend. Super exciting, I haven't done any in a while and it turned out pretty good. Did find out that I didn't have any black ink. I am not sure what happened to it, but my bottle was dry. At least I had an acceptable color that complemented the colors of the scroll nicely while remaining readable.

:sendinglove: Keep on being awesome and I'll catch you next time!

Today I cleaned a lot. I also got a few more things squared away and ready for tomorrow's event. And I baked cookies. I tried baking spritz cookies with my new flour. The dainty cookies with lots of joints fell apart, so I just ended up making shortbread rounds. So those, with some brownie cookies are ready for my event as well.

==mm== Counting Victories - Event went well!!!!
:x: Some ball foot rolling
:x: Evening Foot stretches

On this day, we had the event. I did my job of counting all the people and I am pretty sure this is the best event we have had yet! Way to go for my little corner of the Known World. :tuzki-count:

Got an award today for service, so that was cool. I think I feel silly about it because it is just something that I do. But still pretty neat to be recognized! :tuzki-hero:

And I got to fence today!!! :twirl: Got some compliments, so I am definitely regaining my prior abilities. I am noticing a few things:
1. My impulsivity leads to me taking dumb risks where I should not succeed
2. Playing it cool = thinking too much = die
3. Not having fun (treating it lightly) and getting too serious changes my mindset = die

Hmmm, guess I'm just going to have to keep on training that muscle memory and letting the impulsivity save my 'life'? But that doesn't sound right.

:hehehe::question:

So, yeah, I am going to start working on some point control drills because I need those. And clearly, I do some good, stupid stuff with daggers that let me just win. But, I cannot just stroll around playing daggers all the time. I am pretty sure I will upset somebody at some point.

:worry:Hmmm, well I could look up the threshold for which a dagger becomes a sword and then just have a really short sword?? Lols, I could live in that loophole.

:smirk:OR I could just do the harder thing and figure out a way around my mind blocks. I need to spend time figuring out why it is that I suddenly get decision paralysis and become super defensive when I have a sword or a sword and buckler. I'm going to have to think on this. I have the potential to be better, I just need to find the way around this plateau (maybe not the right word, but close enough for my thought processes.)

:shock: AHHH, maybe because I am always fighting our new fighters??? I am always making sure I give them ample time to try to attack me. I am playing tournament while still in teacher mode.

:glee::amused::muahaha: I used to do this to another fighter all the time! Oh shoot! How the tables have turned. Well, that is definitely an answer (maybe not the only one, but an excellent starting point) and it really does mean that I need to do more fighting with other people outside my shire and at my level or higher.

200 march steps of FoP exercises - but that's all I did. I have some carry overs I'll clear up tomorrow.

P (Adrian) - 5m Getting to Know Me Strength Warm Up
P (Tunde) [Arms with Tunde 19/19] - 20m Arms & Shoulder Strength :star: - 5lb, 8lb, and 10lb - too many stats to report, but I did 2 1m elbow planks, more tricep pushups, and burpees w/ knee tricep pushup and jump
P (Aditi) - 5m Get to Know Me Yoga Warm Up - and I canceled the yoga because I was too shaky and sore already
P (Callie) - 10m Full Body Stretch

==mm== 1000 Calf Raises 7

Shelved for today:
Express Tone 10
30 Days of Change 25
Everest 19

Last Things:
==mm== Counting Victories - I got everything done today that I wanted to.
:v: Some ball foot rolling
:x: Evening Foot stretches - where is my yoga strap?

Today was a much quieter day at home, which I definitely needed. I finished the last of the chores and finished Arms with Tunde. OMG, I am glad I did the program, but today's class just kicked my butt a little.

Arms with Tunde Review
I really enjoyed the program. Tunde did a great job of not overloading you while still pushing you. I really appreciated that it was only 3 working days a week. I also appreciated that doing this class forced me to find out if my body was ready for some exercises that I haven't been doing. Like burpees. I know it was impulsive to pick it up while I still had Express Tone going, but I think it helped me in the long run.

I'll be picking Express Tone back up probably on Tuesday. I'm going to try to 30DoC tomorrow, though I am totally considering doing Totals protocol on it because I don't really want to do the plank work and I know that Totals protocol for that will get me over the hump.

"Striving to be the change."
Congratulations on your successful event, your service award, and completing Arms with Tunde!

I am certain the service award was well-deserved! From what you have told us, you do a lot for your SCA community!

Do you do heavy weapons fighting as well as the fencing?
