Sore muscles and HIIT day - how?

I bet my question has been answered somewhere but for the life of myself I couldn't find it. I am doing the soma 40 program and feel so good doing it. However, I overdid it and have THE MOTHER OF ALL TRAINING PAINS.
I can move my legs- slowly. Walking is pain. Yesterday I took a rest day (well, I went to a concert, walked and stood for 6 hours straight, "rest" is relative). I feel i need to get the training in today, else I fell off the training wagon. But I have the feeling I can't do it. My legs cramp as soon as I do a single jumping jack.
So, what do you recommend in this case? Stretch and another rest day? Soldier through and ignore the pain? Do the HIIT as SIIT (Slug intensity impact training, I can't even do LIIT, I move like a well-fed Slug).

I don't know much about SIIT, LIIT, and HIIT. I'm a ways away from getting into all that. ^_^;;

But in general, this guide might help for the muscle soreness: Muscle Soreness and Recovery

Sounds like it was good to take a rest day yesterday. For today, maybe stretches and a lighter workout. Soreness is expected, but watch out that you're not having actual pain because that could be dangerous to ignore and push through.

I generally follow this common sense rule: if I'm sore I just do mobility and stretching, if I'm stiff I do a light workout.
I always prefer to err on the side of caution rather than regret it later. :)

YES, that was the article I was looking for.

I am more on the "no pain no gain, just make it harder" side of things. Aaand then I injure myself because I cant do the exercises properly, so I counter with other muscles, that are very much not there for it. Think "lift from the back" kind of stuff.
So, yeah, maybe light workout better today... thank you both for the help, and the common sense ;-)

I also used to do and too often do like you but I realized that I waste much more time because of an injury than if I have a little more patience when I'm not well. ;)
