BATTLEGROUND 2025

BATTLEGROUND: THE CAKE WAR RETURNS!

The battle drums sound once more. The warriors gather. The war is upon us! But this is no ordinary war - this is serious business, we battle for CAKE.

On one side, the Light fights for the glorious, heavenly Vanilla (Angel) Cake - pure, radiant, and just a little bit too sweet. On the other, the Dark rises in the name of rich, decadent Chocolate Cake - bold, intense, and possibly a bit too OP.

The rules are simple: Fight for your cake. Punch, kick, strike, elbow, knee—whatever it takes to prove your side’s might! Every move you make earns points for your faction. One rep = one point.

For three days, the war rages on. Allies may turn, spies may switch sides, but in the end, only one cake shall claim victory. And yet, deep down, we all know the truth: it doesn’t matter which side wins, because in the end, we all get cake. Victory is sweet. But participation is even sweeter. Every warrior who steps onto the battlefield earns a special Battleground Badge - a mark of honor for those who dared to fight for their dessert!

So, warriors of DAREBEE - choose your side, ready your strikes, and let’s make this the most legendary cake war yet!

THE BATTLE BEGINS MARCH 22ND.

⚔️ How It Works

  1. Pick Your Side: Light or Dark (update your profile or declare it below).
  2. FIGHT. Perform any combat move: punches, kicks, elbow strikes, knee strikes, backfists, etc.
  3. Earn Points: 1 rep = 1 point for your chosen side.
  4. Submit Your Score: Post your reps below and state which side you are contributing points to.
  5. Track the Battle: Moderators update the real-time leaderboard every hour on the forum & a public Spreadsheet.
  6. Win Together: After 3 days, the side with the most points wins the war!
  7. Claim Your Badge: Everyone who participates can claim a special Battleground Badge in their user profile.

Rules & Guidelines

  • ANY combat move counts – punches, kicks, elbow strikes, knee strikes, backfists, shadowboxing, bag work, etc.
  • 1 rep = 1 point. No max limit—every strike matters!
  • You can switch sides during the event, but past points stay where they were.
  • Post your points in the event thread with your total and your chosen side (e.g., "Today: 500 points for the Light!").
  • Leaderboard updates happen every hour – check the forum thread for current standings.
  • The event lasts 3 days – final scores will be posted once the battle ends.

All Points Spreadsheet (view only)

The final Score:

The Light: 55,310
The Dark:

The Light Wins! Vanilla Cake for everyone!

:fireworks:Congrats Vanilla cake (Light) :angel::fireworks:

Sorry if I'm late. Shame on the chocolate cake team. Even if I did another 1,200 points, the dark team wasn't going to make up the lead.

Anyway.
On to my 2-year-old challenge.
Then, off to indulge in two slices of both cakes; which... except for my Tuesday break, I'll burn calories properly. With training.

See you in the last day of March.

How was that 3 days?!
And now you're telling me that - since I did not post them in time - my 8.500 punches today (for the light of course!) were nothing but a waste of time (and a good upper body workout ;))?
Whatever. You guys managed to win this one without me. Good game everyone!
I think it really wasn't 3 days, starting on 22nd ending on 24th. Not possible to be three days, right? Or am I missing something?

Thanks to everyone who worked to put this together! It was a lot of fun! ^_^ I can't wait for the next event.

Congrats to the right Light Team! :fireworks:

Though we can celebrate everyone's hard work with some fresh chco-nilla cake

Even though we won this battle, we still have not won the war. Remeber to be vigilant in your duties, and remain steadfast. However, take a repose and feast upon a lovely golden cake to ight in reward for your struggles. (this was fun, can't wait for the next one)

now that I think about it, yeah, it encompassed 3 days (22, 23, 24) but it started at 10:00 AM 22 and ended at 10:00 AM 24, which is in fact 48 hours

Yeah I thought there would be another 5hrs or so left as that would make starting to ending time 72hrs.

Ahh well, at least the light team won as it rightly should !!!!!

... we indeed miscalculated. We are soooo, sooo very sorry about this!!

:sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry:

It should have been full 72 hrs.

We discussed this internally - we could add an extra day or have a re-match but it won't be the same. Instead, we propose to run the event for 4 days next year. Does this work for everyone?

For anyone who missed out because of our inability to count, we are going to have another community event end of April (for Easter).

@neilarey You and the team do a fantastic job and produce such great content (both the programs and these events), I don't think anyone should be upset at a miscalculation here.

You guys do whatever you think is best, and I look forward to the next challenge, when hopefully I won't be caught up at work and will be able to get more involved in :move:

I am so glad it wasn't just a case of my losing track of time!

Dear neilary and every one in darebee team what you are doing here is nothing compared to this very, very small mistake and we believe in it. And I wish you to achieve whatever goal or desire you have. You are wonderful and we are very grateful.:beating:

Love to the Darebee team. :lovelots:

This event was great and I think that 4 days next year is fine. I think that we just all suffered from confusion because of the miscalculation and we were all jazzed up to continue the cake fight. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm going to start training to be better at combat for next year! :jacks:

I'm looking forward to the next event! 🥚🐇

I blame the Light for this

Joking, it's like the others say, I'm always grateful for DAREBEE no matter what! But 4 days would be cool!

I was just confused. But considering I couldn't help my team on Monday, I'm kinda glad it ended early. Especially with the come-back that chocolate team was doing! :amused:

But definitely like the idea of it being longer next time! And excited for another event in April. These are really fun.

Please don't beat y'allselves up about it. Easy mistake to make. And it was a lot of fun, so it's appreciated. :)

Hi @neilarey , hi DAREBEE team!

No problem.
Next year, it will be taken into account.
At least last Sunday (March 23rd) I had a good time.
If I had known about the event, I would have done it from the first minute of the start until the third day.

Back to the routine of the last week of March.
Have fun.
See you on Monday the 31st.

I blame the Light for this

I pictured Damer as Benny from Fallout: New Vegas saying "the game was rigged from the start."

Now I can't stop picturing him wearing a checkered suit for the next video. :ragdoll:

Four days would be awesome though. It was really surprising to see it end as soon as I woke up.
