Feeling very busy with family staying with us over the holiday. I'm managing to maintain Foundation every day the level is at minimum. Tuesday I didn't even get in any yoga. I stated early before anyone got up to assemble parts of the holiday meal.

It's Tuesday morning and there's nobody here at the house except me and Sally (the cat). My partner happens to be out at a Pilates class, but all the house guests are finally gone. I enjoyed sharing my home over the holidays and all, but it's also very disruptive to normal routine. I managed to keep something going through the weekend. Usually it was Foundation, except on Sunday when I went for a walk instead.

I'm so happy you are back to being able to participate in the parkrun. Even if only volunteering & walking. I remember how consistent you were with that back in the day.
Does your run have a tail walker position? That could perhaps be a good volunteer position for you?

Thank you, @Laura Rainbow Dragon. Timed, organized runs are expensive and many people just can't justify the cost, balancing the cost of a couple events with a new pair of running shoes. I like the basic ideals of parkrun, free and community based. That's what will keep me going back. I might just not go weekly. There is a tail walker and I could fill that roll sometimes. I don't mind the other less active rolls as well that are often harder to fill. I enjoyed running against the clock, walking for time is less appealing. I will wander past the 5K constraints and look for more distance and elevation.

Both the volunteering and the participating was an exercise in goal formation and completion. I needed to get out of the house doing something preferably with people. I felt a soft spot for parkrun. The New year's Day event gave me a timeline to get myself up to the distance. I trained against the deadline and made it. Woohoo!

I got out for a post parkrun walk of Thursday. I went half the distance but it was a lot harder. There is a distinct lack of yoga / stretching / PT going on with me right now. I really need to do something about that.

Thank you, @Laura Rainbow Dragon. Timed, organized runs are expensive and many people just can't justify the cost, balancing the cost of a couple events with a new pair of running shoes. I like the basic ideals of parkrun, free and community based.
With you 100% there! Race entry fees these days are outrageous. (Even if I was wealthy, I don't think I would pay them, just on principle.)

I want to get involved in my local parkrun too. It's not going to happen for me during the winter. ("Local" in my case = 7km away. And I don't have a car. A 7km hike in winter weather, then stripping down to my running gear--and storing my extra clothing where, exactly?--and then a 7km hike home again afterwards, with my sweat from the run cooling on my body and chilling me to the bone? No thank you!--Not to mention I'd arrive home from the event completely done with being outside in the cold for the day, but then still need to walk my dog. Who likes to do ~ 12km a day herself!) I can cycle the distance easily enough in nice weather though. And I definitely want to support events of this nature. And meet other runners in my city. And work on my 5K speed. So it's definitely in my plans to get involved soon.

That's a good plan, @Laura Rainbow Dragon. Parkrun is a great way to work on your 5K time and build connections and community. Your reason for not starting now is completely understandable. I wouldn't be doing it this time of year if I wasn't able to drive. We have a couple regular runner/volunteers who regularly cycle to parkrun. I am considering doing it later in the spring when I'm comfortably back to cycling. It would be a good destination for a Saturday morning ride. I'm not there yet. I'll be driving Saturday morning.

It rained hard almost all day. The sun came out just minutes before setting behind a neighbors roof. I got back to the mat for 15 minutes of yoga in the evening. I thought I might get on the indoors cycle, but didn't.

It was a weekend of mixed results that was not well focused on working out. Saturday I volunteered at parkrun and walked afterwards. At home I did my day of Foundation. Sunday is usually a day of rest, it usually is. But, the way the day unfolded I never did intentional, tracked activity.

Monday started slow -- most days start slow for me. About 10:00 I finally hit the mat for 17 minutes combined core workout (Foundation, Day 29) and yoga. Tuesday I finished Foundation and a 2 mile walk.

it’s a lot harder to type in everybody’s links when only on the phone.

I’m away from home to attend a wedding and not doing a great job fitting in my workouts. Unfortunately the lack of exercise and yoga have a negative effect on my body. Back and hips are very tight and sore.

Thursday was a travel day and Friday was just busy — and I didn’t get out of bed until near 11:00 with a 13:00 reservation for lunch with friends.

Nothing to count towards my goals.

Monday was a travel-home day. It started early in the morning and lasted late into the night. I slipped in some yoga in the morning before meeting friends for breakfast. I tracked a couple short, intentional walks during the day. Tuesday I had to get up and get going in the morning. My partner had her first day teaching a class at the local college's continuing education program and I'm the teacher's helper. The class is an introduction to plant-based eating. She's the educator and nutrition-fact person. I'm the cook and help with logistics (carrying stuff). When that was over I had no energy to get myself on the yoga mat for crunches (Ten, day 4).

My legs were sore after walking on Wednesday, even through the night. I chose to swap day 5 with day 6 because I thought the movement would be better for the way I felt. I probably forgot to do the deadlifts as much as anything. I did consider the deadlifts as a source of the leg discomfort, maybe it was good to take a rest day. Sometime in the afternoon my sports watch ran out of power and shut down. I probably did more then 3500 steps, but not a lot more. It was a shopping day, slow walking through a couple stores.

Legs felt good today, but Ten, Day 5 was still tough. I couldn't do 10 minutes of rotating through the two movements and holds. I turned it into more of a range of motion exercise alternating between different leg movements like side leg raises, clams, and single-leg hip rotations, on my side and on all fours.
