Let's get this plane back in the air.
plane GIF

First I am doing the First thing water challenge, on day 3.
Next is the Zero Hero RPG program, again day 3.

Additionally I do incidentals including a barbell, dumbbells, and a stationary bike. I don't track these.

Plane, air, let's go.

Following health problems I have now been put on the waiting list for a major surgery which should occur within the next year. This is a big deal for me as it should improve my quality of life significantly, and really cut down on future health issues.

In order to get the best results possible I've been advised on things I can work on while waiting. Aside from general weight loss, the surgeons recommended increasing upper body strength and breathing exercises such as apnea training. I have a treadmill in the house now which I love since I can just jump on whenever I like.

My current weight is 97kg, which I am actually happy about as I was 118kg when I became unemployed 7 months ago.

Date: 18-01
Apnea training: Complete
Treadmill: 30 minutes / 1.24km
Squats: 100
Mr Grumpy: 1 Set
Ironheart: Day 1 1 Set
HD Arms: 1 Set

Hello @aku-chan, @TheLibrarian, and @Fremen
:hi:

Partner showed me how to use the pre-set programs on the treadmill today so the incline was changing every three minutes. Certainly added some interest to the routine, though I'm not game enough to have it change speeds yet.

Date: 19-01
Apnea training: Complete
Treadmill: 36 minutes / 1.98km
Squats: 112

Hello @Calico, @feilan, @Fremen, @TheLibrarian, and @JohnStrong
:boss:

Was intending to go bushwalking today but the temperature was just too extreme. I had to use the treadmill and watch Dragonball Z instead. I cannot complain about that in the slightest.

Hello @Froud, @Fremen, @TheLibrarian, @HellYeah, and @mavie
:fantastic:

Air conditioner broke so inside the house is disgustingly hot, but still better than outside. My candles got so soft they bent over and are shaped like candy canes now!
I've started counting my kilojoule intake, for example today I ate ~5,500kj. This was a relatively small amount of food, sometimes I eat a lot more so I will be interested to see the average over a few weeks.

Squats: 50

Hello @Froud, @mavie, @TheLibrarian, and @Fremen

Had a party last night and forgot to check in. Also my intake was *really* high from having wine. I usually aim for a deficit of about 2,000kj and according to my tracker yesterday intake was about 600kj surplus. Will try to do extra today to help even things out.

Medical wipeout this weekend, but did my best to do a little bit each day. A few dozen squats, a few weights lifted, anything was better than nothing. Recovering now so will start the checklist again.

Hello Darebees

It has been a while. I hope you are all succeeding. My apologies for the radio silence. Predictably, it's from health issues.

Looking to start exercising again in the next week or two. Not sure whether to continue here or start a new thread. Also unsure how much to share regarding specific health issues. Discussing with partner about visiting a personal trainer at the local gym once a week instead of fully self directed.

I no longer have records of my weight, etc. from this time and frankly I don't think it matters. Start fresh and all. Will take while to get used to checking in but I will try my best.
Fight On!

Evening Bees

Barely slept last night, wind kept me awake. Then my gaming computer corrupted the hard drive so spent most of the day trying to recover that. Outcome still pending.

On the positive, the waiting times gave me an excuse to snack on exercises.

Barbell deadlift 13kg x10 reps x5 sets
Goblet squat 10kg x10 reps x1 set
Exercise bike 10 minutes

Today I am grateful for the birds playing in the garden and singing.

Morning

I have been doing small incidentals the last few days (few squats here, bicep curl there). I don't track these for convenience, if I tried I would do them less.
Friday night went out to the museum which involved about 2.5km walking through the CBD. The museum was great but the walking was not.
Overall I feel I've got a good idea of where I am as a starting point, and can start planning how to move forward.

Woke up early and energised today so slipped in some barbell work before visitors arrived.

Barbell deadlift 13kg x10 reps x5 sets
Barbell squat 13kg x10 reps x3 sets

This morning I am grateful for the toy dragon I got from the museum gift shop.

Evening Bees

Another energetic day today. I intend to make the most of them while they last.

DailyDare 30 bridges completed in one go
Easy Core day 2 (x10 reps x3 sets)
Elbow plank 30 seconds
Barbell upright row 13kg x10 reps x3 sets

Side bends revealed stiffness/mild soreness in sides from yesterdays' exercise but within acceptable parameters.
I feel like the plank would have been easier if I held my breath but that would be bad form.

Today I am grateful my partner bought strawberries home for after dinner snacks :-)

Did a bit to make up for lost time today. Last year the Light side won the Battleground, so I intend to fight for the Dark side in the Cake Wars.

Easy Core days 6, 7, and 8
Barbell deadlifts 13kg x10 reps x3 sets
Barbell squats 13kg x10 reps x3 sets

Combat moves for the war will be noted in that thread once finished.

Today I am grateful for the comfortable seats in my car.

Hello Bees

I really enjoyed the Battleground event, and was surprised how much I could do. Not good to replicate, but helpful when gauging future activities.

Easy Core day 11
Barbell deadlifts 13kg x10 reps x3 sets

Today I am grateful there is a really good bakery nearby.

Hello Bees

Spoke to a personal trainer today so I can get advice on weightlifting form, etc. They have a specific background in Olympic-style weightlifting and work weekends so I couldn't ask for better. Will be having initial consult with them next week.

Back and Biceps Express workout using a 13 kg barbell, rests were longer but I don't mind. I did it, that's what matters.
Easy Core day 12

Today I am grateful for the concept of the "tasting paddle" at craft breweries.

Friends came over to play games, we are aiming to reinstate monthly game days which I am really looking forward to.

Easy Core day 13
Hand grip exerciser x20 reps per side x3 sets

Today I am grateful for dice rolling apps.

Hello Bees

Had a magpie at the park sing a song today after I filled a bowl with water for them. After having a drink they promptly had a bath, then just stood in it for a while. Can't wait for winter so I can actually go outside for walks again.

Easy Core day 15
Barbell 13kg:
Deadlift x10 reps
Upright row x10 reps
Overhead press x10 reps

Hello Bees

Had my first session with a personal trainer this morning. Mostly did various exercises to establish baseline abilities, etc. Turns out I am stronger than I thought except for core (which I knew, part of why I wanted a trainer). Given time restrictions I will be seeing them once a week while still fitting in what I can on other days.

Easy Core will be resumed tomorrow. I am annoyed with myself that I let it slip, but I have to acknowledge that working 14 hours day/5 days this week is too much. Hopefully hours drop again soon.
