"I just work here."
Is that the one where we had to fight for cookies or cake?
Yeah  you pick a side: the Light or the Dark and fight (punches) to see who wins. The concern was the potential divisiveness of the event so we didn't run it again after 2016. We might be overthinking this., though.

Hmm. I was raised with the ethos that competition is a good thing. To be a competitive athlete, one must respect one's sport, oneself, and one's opponents. You're fighting hard to be the best you can be. And you respect the fact that your opponents are doing the same.

When I was running competitively, my closest friends were my opponents out on the race course! They pushed me to do better, and I did the same for them. On race day we all did the best we could. And at the end of the course we shook hands and said, "Good race!" and meant it.

I know not everyone's experience of competitive sports is the same as mine. But I think DAREBEE is a place we can change that. The event encourages team building (we can try to recruit more Bees to join our side, cheer our teammates on, etc.), and everyone's contributions matter, no matter how big or small the volume of work we are able to do. At the end of the event, we all shake hands :friend: and say, "Good battle!" and mean it.

I am not at all the competitive type (long story but it is myself I compete again, to try be a better version of myself, :tears:) - though there is nothing wrong with it, but just to state I come from a different POV than our multicolored Dragon. However , as our @Fremen says, it feels like a DnD alignment, and personally I don't feel it divisive. Hope it helps in your decision!
If there is chocolate on one side, they've won me over, just sayin'. Though if there is good tea on the other ... :muahaha:

I've found the events I've participated in so far to be really encouraging for me. So I'd be interested either way, haha.

I do tend to be competitive, I'll admit. But this feels like it'd be similar to Art Fight that I participate in. Sure, it's a competition. But people are mostly doing it for the fun of it. :sendinglove:

The competitiveness of this wouldn't be much different from the competitiveness of the snowball fight... we would just be teams instead of individual, plus the teams would be fighting for a cause (chocolate vs Tea or something) rather than it being personal by picking names :chuckle:

Oh, I remember this! (@FlowersandPetals Battlegrounds was an event much like the Snowfight, except you chose to play for a team - Team Light or Team Dark, if I remember correctly. Everyone's punches got counted for their team, and at the end of the event one team was declared the 'winner.') I'm not a particularly competitive person, and I had a lot of fun with it!

Look at what I found!:

Me and my spreadsheets!

So it wasn't just punches to fight last time but any upper body combat moves.

Also, knowing me, that graphic likely lists the highest Battleground scoring workouts that were in the database at that time!
