Back on Day 2 of House of the Valkyrie I noticed we had the exercise instruction 10-count hold / per side and today on Day 14 we have 10 side leg raises right leg followed by 10 side leg raises left leg. I like these instructions because they're more explicit, more obvious, than in other workouts where you had to know to switch half-way (or alternate depending on the exercise). (Yes, I've read the Workout Manual, but not every beginner showing up here does.)

The Valkyries were chill today so I could spend a bunch of time thinking about meditation.

As of late last night I've reached a 30 day meditation streak. I've done the Headspace courses "Learn the Basics of Meditation", "Basics 2", and "Basics 3"; the sessions are available in different lengths and I've taken the longest ones each, for 10, 15, and 20 minutes per session; all of them in English as narrated by Andy.

I'm listening to the session in bed, directly before sleep. Even though the meditation sessions are not specific for falling asleep they are effective at that; I have fallen asleep before the session was over some days. Content-wise there weren't any amazing discoveries yet; concentrating on the breath and doing a body scan are things I have been doing before to calm my mind.

I'll have to pick something new for today. I'm not sure if I fully know what I want to get out of meditation; more clarity there might help.

Nice work with the meditation streak! Shame about not having any amazing discoveries yet, but it sounds like you're getting a lot of benefit from it regardless. I haven't meditated in ages but when I do for whatever reason I find it way easier when sitting - maybe it's less of the body in contact with things so picturing physical sensations as a cloud/non-localised sensations is easier? I dunno. Great that meditation has helped you fall asleep on some nights,

Thank you for your thoughts @agc!

With how some people are hyping up meditation I had sort of expected more amazing discoveries in the first 30 days. But, you're right, I am getting benefits from it: Falling asleep easier/faster on some nights is the most obvious one. Additionally, I think I'm less stressed the last few days? However that might be the placebo effect at work or attributable to one of many other factors. But maybe the discoveries are there and are amazing, they're just not very visible.

Good idea about the amount of contact the body has with other things. I will have to experiment with that.

Thanks @Laura Rainbow Dragon!

A new practice hall, again? How many different rooms does the House have? And why are they all accessible through this single door?

On the way home after my hike today I walked through the main shopping street. (Bad idea, too many people in a place like that on a lovely Saturday afternoon.) But my local/favorite sports equipment store had a huge sale sign in the window and so I went in to see what they had. And I found a pair of ankle and wrist weights that were not only on sale but actually on clearance sale (even cheaper) since they were a discontinued product.
Anyway, thirty bucks later and now I'm the proud owner of a set of adjustable ankle weights (4x 500g) and a set of adjustable wrist weights (4x 250g).
Proud owner? Future me is absolutely going to hate current me for buying these and making her use them.

The third time the House has given me two paths and a choice to make. With no clear instruction and no explicit guidance I had to explore the feel of each of the two paths and then trust my gut to make the right decision.

I chose the Harrier path.

Now I'm going to have to check out Valkryie because of your post. 😉
