Pathfinder: Chapter 6 / 30
I let the group down today, three of our members freeze because I could only gather enough wood for two to survive the night. Jenna, Jade, and I continue on without Lee, Mia, and Jamal. I try not to look back. I have to keep my remaining two party members alive, no matter what it takes. I'm going to need to get ahold of a time turner one day and come back and save EVERYONE. For now, though, I have to do what I can to keep Jenna and Jade alive.
When I come across the bear, I muster up my remaining strength to do what I can for them. (11 knee push ups, then 2, then 1) I hope it's enough.

more to come (maybe)
for now, I lay on the ground

you are having goo times i see. I also don't like squat hold or wall sits. For the push up i didn't know it is ok, it takes time. keep on going !
I've never really done these static holds before and it's so much harder than I was expecting! It burns (in a good way) and it's really satisfying to check the box each day when I complete them. These challenges are so motivating because it truly does feel like I'm getting a little bit better every day. Thanks for the encouragement! The Hive is so motivating and keeps me coming back

As far as first impressions go, my meeting with Art and Luca were... not ideal. I can't blame them, I know first hand how dangerous this place is. Streak Day 25
I have never been into the idea of Hot Yoga, but I uninentionally did just that today. A/C is still busted so it was a nice 85F/29C inside today. Ugh. Anywaaaaay let's go

Daily Dare / Exercise of the Day
DONE + EC 60 Sec Side Plank Hold

Planet Fitness
No weights today, but did a quick run

1.1 mile/ 1.8 km run in 16 minutes 30 seconds. I hit 1 mile around 14:43, which is the fastest I've run a mile so far! I had to push myself, so I didn't have enough in the tank to continue running. I walked for the last .1 miles to cool down and then I needed 30 rolls of paper towel to get the sweat off of my forehead.

30 Day Challenges
Dead Hang: RESTARTING
Instead of doing the next day, I decided to see how long I could hold. I made it to 25 seconds. I'll be restarting this challenge tomorrow, and then on the first day that I can't hold for the full time, I'm going to restart again. I wish I would have hung to failure for the first day of the challenge. Going forward I'm going to try to get benchmarks for each challenge before I start.

No pathfinder today. Too hot, and I don't want to kill any more people. Hoping I'm up for the lunges tomorrow. I'm very intimidated. Getting through all sets with only 30 seconds rest will be a huge challenge

All workouts in honor of Ozzy, today.

Something else to consider is focusing on an exercise for a month, just building on it slowly. Some challenges work like that, others seem to be built like the person doing it should already be able to handle much of the "punishment" that the exercise* provides. I have as part of my monthly plans a single exercise I work on, adding more reps or time or whatever on a daily basis such that from day to day the increase in load isn't terrible, but across the month it turns out to be pretty significant. Even two seconds of Dead Hang a day means one minute all in one go on day 30. Just a thought.

Also, "We need Perry Mason..."**

*Or exercises, depending on the particular challenge.
**It's the only bit I could remember offhand from an Ozzy song. Sue me.***
***Please don't, I can't hire Perry Mason for several reasons: One, I don't have the money; two, I don't have the money if I lose the suit; and three, he's fictional.

Even two seconds of Dead Hang a day means one minute all in one go on day 30. Just a thought.

I'll have to think about doing something like this if I don't make it super far into the challenge without failing again! I'm a glutton for pain and punishment, though, so we'll see

Maybe each time I fail I'll add a dollar to the 'hire Perry Mason' fund :P

BONUS FUN STUFF
In efforts to help me get to my first push up, my partner and I did a fun challenge. He did full push-ups and I matched him with Band Assisted Push-Ups. Each of his sets were to failure, and I needed to do mini-sets to make the count. Here's where we got to:
Set 1: 26 (took me four sets to match)
Set 2: 21 (four sets to match)
Set 3: 19 (three sets to match)
Set 4: 17 (3 sets to match)
Set 5: 19 (3 sets to match)
Set 6: 15 (3 sets to match)
for 117 total pushups!

This was so much fun I hope we do something like this again soon. My first push up has got to happen any day now

Not gonna lie, I'm really happy to be done with the 1,000 Squats and Knee Push-Ups challenges. I came out of the gate a little hot and started too many challenges, I think. I'm glad I did them and I feel really accomplished but they were really tough towards the end there. I'm also very happy to finally complete some challenges. Now, the rest of them!

Thank you!!!!

I think I will start doing this, I don't know why I didn' t think of it before. It's better to do the workout slightly modified than to skip it all together. :D

I do the same though. It almost feels like it's cheating? But I have to remind myself that a workout is a workout. :)

I do the same though. It almost feels like it's cheating? But I have to remind myself that a workout is a workout. :)
Yes, exactly this! I get so in my head about it that I psych myself out of the whole workout, which is completely missing the point of why I'm here in the first place. My ultimate goal is to be able to do everything exactly as written, but the only way to actually get to that point is to DO workouts until I am to that point. I need to remember to zoom out and look at the bigger picture and remind myself why I'm here.

Well, they choose to not believe me, despite me showing them the picture I took and also telling them about what our party had seen. Whatever, I don't have the time nor energy to convince these people. I have to focus on my party.

As we're leaving though, a boy runs up and begs to join us. He looks like a smart kid so I level with him and tell him that my party used to be bigger, and let him deduce the implications of that. He figures that he has a better shot with us, since we're actually trying to survive, than with the people he left who are refusing to believe anytthing is happening in the first place. I can't argue with that, and we welcome him along.

I choose to climb us to safety, doing 200 mountain climbers in a set of 100, 50, then 50.

Unbound: TBD

I really enjoyed Power Grip and think it has been helping me with my dead hangs. I'll probably incorporate the clench / unclench throughout my days at random times.

1,000 Calf Raises really started to kick my a** there at the end. I was trying to do everything in one set but my calves were absolutely screaming by the 70th rep. I usually took at most around 5 or 10 seconds before finishing. I'll likely incorporate more calf raises into my daily life moving forward at random times throughout my day when I find myself standing/waiting places.

Atlas has become a favorite exercise which is great because I wanted to quit SO BAD after day 1. I'll probably take a few days or weeks off before repeating the challenge on hard mode. The RUSH that I feel when finishing the hold is addicting. The first week or so of the challenge was so hard and had me questioning everything and everything but one day things just kind of... changed... and my body loved it and began to crave it.

I'm glad that my daily challenge load is smaller now and moving forward I'm going to try to keep the load pretty low but... no promises.
