We’re on holiday, day 2! A sunny morning (terras, boulangerie) and a rainy afternoon (driving) and now we’re nearing the Spanish border. We’re in a lovely little city called Rocamadour. It’s marvellous! We ended up here because we were looking for a place ‘about five hours from we’re we’re now’ and we liked the name of the place. Then we looked up some pictures and … .
We’re on holiday, day 3. The morning started with rain, but when we finished all the cafė au lait and such, it was dry and even a bit warm in Rocamadour. We had a stroll in the little city center and then walked up, the way of the pilgrims. 32 staircases up, my phone told me. We drove south in the afternoon and now we’re in the Pyrenees, where snow still tops the mountains and everything is in between wintersport and summer tourism.
We’re on holiday, day 4. We’ve been toying with the idea of going for a hike, but ended up making coffee on a lovely picknick spot and sitting in the sun, listening to the river below for a few hours. Then we drove to Zaragoza, Spain’s 4th biggest city, but not very well known. It has a beautiful town center to explore.
We’re on holiday, day 5. We’re in Ávila, where they have 2,5 km wall build in the 11th to 14th centuries. We’re going to stay here for a few days. Fun food fact: Saint Teresa of Ávila is by some believed to be the inventor of French fries.
I’ll take some pictures tomorrow, because the wall is truly magnificent.
We’re on holiday, day 7 according to the previous post, but in reality it’s day 9 already. A lot of water themed stuff today: washing clothes, doing our own dishes after all the hotels in the previous days and a visit to the Arab baths’ museum, very impressive. Tomorrow we’re on the road again and the we hope to find a nice camping to pitch up our tent.
We’re on holiday, day 11 now. Yesterday we arrived at a nice camping place in the Granada area, we’re going to stay here for a few days, doing some hiking, some sight seeing and a lot of being lazy.
@kronizzle Yes, Granada in Spain. We have a camping site near the Sierra Nevada, a mountain ridge east of Granada which still has a bit of snow on the tops. Great landscape! There’s a lot of nice old stuff to see in Granada, most famously the Alhambra. It’s a nice city, not that big, but friendly. Lots of tourists of course. We’re doing a big, slow tour of France and Spain, so we’ll be leaving again in a few days, for Ronda or Cordoba, or both, or some place else, depending on our mood.
The Sore Feet Workout is super easy. Like the Rotator Cuff it’s a maintenance thing. When you do it daily or semi daily for a longer period, your flexibility increases a lot. The Sore Feet Workout also helps noticeably for ankle stability (my main reason for keeping this one).
@graoumia Continuous Days of Exercise - I started my streak when my home country went into COVID lockdown for the first time and I haven’t stopped yet. And don’t worry about dumb questions. The only really dumb question is an unasked question.
We’re still on holiday, day 15 now. After 5 days of camping in a little tent we now have a lovely hotel room in Ronda. I hoped to see the lesser kestrels (small colony forming birds of prey) today, but it’s very windy. Haven’t seen them. Ronda is lovely though! We walked out of a restaurant before ordering because of an obnoxious waiter and landed in the best tapas place you can imagine. One of the best meals of this holidays
We’re still on holiday, day 16 now. Córdoba, a large stroll through the old center and of course a visit to the Mezquita-Cathedral. If you don’t know what that is, I suggest you look it up. It’s incredible.
Still on holiday, day 19 I think. We’re at the foot of the Pyrenees, on the Spanish side, in a village that has 15 inhabitants in winter. And now in spring it’s still very tranquil. And beautiful, so very beautiful, with a wide view over the surrounding landscape.
We’re home again after 22 days travelling. Nice to be somewhere without checkout times. Nice to have the cat around again. But I’d not have minded to have some extra weeks in Spain. Well, enough plans in store for coming holidays.
