Growing in confidence

Princess Fancy Princess Fancy Logging since November 2024
I survived the weekend! The party on saturday was great (it got really late), but the train travels not. The Deutsche Bahn truly did justice to her reputation. On friday it took us two hours longer, so over 12 hours in the end, and sunday on the way back it was even worse. They send us on the wrong track and it took us over 13 hours. We just got home with the last train around 11:30pm... And had to get up early for work on monday again. I feel still really tired, worn out and lack some sleep. So naturally, there was not that much exercising on the weekend.

Another hot day today. And we still have to put everything from the kitchen in boxes today. They will be doing some big renovation works on the waterpipes in our house. For that, they are going to reconstruct our kitchen and drill holes there to get to the pipe. They are starting tomorrow 7a.m. with the kitchen. But at least we will still have water for the weekend. On monday they are starting with the drilling and the pipes and there won't be water for the next two weeks. At least, we are leaving on wednesday next week and only have to survive two days without.

Take care bees :perfect:

@graoumia, how funny, we are having pizza friday each week too, if there's nothing else (so the last weeks there wasnt't that much pizza). We own some reusable pizza boxes and since we got them, we established the pizza friday.

I'm back again and trying to get into the habit of exercising and logging again.
Thank you so much @graoumia @Damer @Fremen @Anek @Mamatigerj @aku-chan. We truly had had a wonderful wedding. Everything went well. The registrar did a great job and held a very personal and touching but als humorous ceremony. The weather was just perfect too and we could celebrate outside. The food was delicious and more than enough. Everyone was in a happy, festive mood. I'm sure we'll remember that day for the rest of our lives. And so much more, like the church wedding is yet to come. We sceduled that for next year april.
The following days there was a traditional and historic children and town festival held in our city and we were at different events each day, like theater plays, historic dances and parades, but also a modern fairground and a party. The last two days we went to a smaller amusement park beside a wildlife park. So overall we had full but very fun days.

Back in our appartment last saturday night, after another neverending train ride, we discovered that they are still not finished with the renovation works. We have water, but we still can't use the kitchen up till today. I really hope that they are finally getting finished tomorrow. Our appartment is still a mess and not comfortabel. I'm really looking forward to cleaning and unboxing everything.

But now to my workouts. I admit that I didn't really do much else than the meditation challenge until last sunday. But at least we were on our feet a lot, on some days i did over 20.000 steps. I started my workouts monday again:

Life things: The cooking went well yesterday and we got along well with the invitations yesterday and had a lot of fun. My bridsmaid joined spontanously for the crafting. Still not finished though, but i'll guess until the end of next week, we will be done. Maybe we can do some more this evening. First there is a rehearsal for an advent play from our student drama club, where I am playing a little part and helping backstage. And then some preparations for tomorrow, at work I have to cook for our team.

Today my husband joined me in working out, which was a lot of fun. Mostly there is a running class on mondays, but since we had the first snow today and its cold and icy outside, we didn't go running. I guess i might take up running in spring again. The cooking for my team was a bit stressfull, but all worked out in the end. I made swabian pasta and lentils (spätzle mit linsen), somewhat a swabian national dish. Beside that, just a long and boring working day, feeling tired.

Life things: Yesterday it got late but I still found the time wor exercise. I have rehearals for an inclusive musical projekt with our student drama club. It's always a lot of fun. Besides that, my husband got bad news again concerning his PhD-studies. He's been really stuggling for a long time now. I'm always trying to support him, but at the same time I'm dealing with my own wished for life, which are on hold at the moment. Most of them (like moving closer to our family) can only be fulfilled once hes finished...

Life things: We went to a christmas craftwork market, which was nice. The afternoon we did some more crafting for the invitation cards, but they are almost finished now. This evening there is an advent theatre play where I am helping, we'll see how it goes. The last rehearsal yesterday was chaotic, but thats the way it has to be

Have a great evening bees :perfect:

On to the plan for december:
Monday 01.12.2025
:v: Easy Core Challenge Day 1
:v: 2-Minute-Mobility Challenge Day 1
:v: Fit December Day 1
:v: Unbound Day 1
:v: And finished Zen Day 30

I am tired all day, I slept really badly. I read a very interesting job advertisement just before going to bed (note to myself, no scrolling through job advertisements before bed...)
My two biggest wishes are to move closer to our family and to have a job were I can actually use my qualifications and abilities.
This job would be near our home town and sound really interesting, but I can't really tell If I would even have a chance to get the job. The biggest problem is, that my husband can't tell how long his PhD Studies will take and has to stay here in the north. So even if an arrangement would be possible where I only have to be 2 days in the office and could do the rest in home office, that would be a lot of days traveling by train and beeing away from my husband, since our town we live in at the moment is a 10-12 our train (or car) trip apart. And it might mean to stay at my parents house the days when I'm in the south for the job, because we could'nt affort two appartments. Difficult things to think about. But just being stuck here is driving me mad to. And I already checked and applied for other jobs in our current town, but without success. And once my husband is finished we want to move in the south (of germany), closer to our family anyway.
It's hard to describe the situation, it's just complicated. As next steps, I guess I need to talk to my husband about this job this evening and then contact the HR-Lady (She already knows me, we had contact before). Maybe I don't have chances anyway, but it could be worth a try.

Have a great evening bees :perfect:

 for the job and long-distance situation. Definitely contacting the HR person is the right call, I think. There's no sense in stressing over the implications of a job you don't even have yet. Once you know more about it, you'll be much better able to decide if this opportunity is right for you.

Congratulations on completing Zen!

Thank you very much for your kind word @Laura Rainbow Dragon. I contacted the HR-Lady, but am still waiting for an answer. I guess the most difficult thing about the current situation is that I feel like in the movie groundhog day. Every day is the same and I can't do anything to break out and decide anything in my life. All I can do is waiting for my husband to finish or to get further in some other way to break the cicle. And hes also struggling with his studies, it's hard for him too and I understand that. Of course I know its not true that I can't make my own choices and go further, and in small things I am doing my thing and I can use my abilities at least in volunteering e.g. in our student drama club. But for the big decisions (like moving) its difficult, options for a different job are very limited in my current town too.

I guess the most difficult thing about the current situation is that I feel like in the movie groundhog day. Every day is the same and I can't do anything to break out and decide anything in my life.
You can though. Obviously I do not know the details of your specific situation. But surely you are not tied to your husband's hip? You need to consider your own career and future too! Securing work in the field you have trained in will become more and more difficult the longer you wait to do it. Do not delay for years waiting on your husband to finish his studies. Please do not delay for years.

Finally another update! Thank you @Mamatigerj. @Laura Rainbow Dragon of course i'm not tied to his hip, at least I am concidering job offers near our home town with described consequences. It is a difficult and complex situation. But I'm trying to do the best. Last Thursday I saw one of the rare job advertisements up here and applied right away, but still waiting for an answer. And I had a first meeting with a job coach yesterday which was good. I just have to see how things go.
But beside the difficult situation we as a couple are still trying to create good memories and went to a mini holiday for the weekend. We stayed at a nice hotel on one of the baltic sea island and had a really lovely time :lovely:. Back here I just forgot posting, but I want to get in the habbit again and catch up with your logs.

So on to exercise, at least I have been active everyday. Here's the summary:

The last days have been busy again with work, chores and christmas preparation. Yesterday we met with some friends and had a board game night, which was fun. Today there is an advent play (or do you say show?) with our student drama club and after that we have a little christmas party.

Today there is an advent play (or do you day show?)
It's most commonly called a "pageant" here. Although "play" and "show" are both also accurate.
(I think the preference for "pageant" is pandering to vestigial Puritanism where "pageants" are seen as proper religious/reverent presentations whereas "plays" and "shows" are secular and potentially quite bawdy.)

Thanks a lot for the explanation @Laura Rainbow Dragon. It was a secular play, but not bawdy maybe contemplative would be the right english word to describe the atmosphere. It was a story about an old lady who is loney on christmas eve but makes friends with a linesman and later her son visits etc. and after some trubles they have a nice chrismas eve.

Here'y the exercise for the last days:

And finished the arm circles vor the apple ornament.

Life thing: The last days have been busy, long boring days at work, some rehearsals and christmas preparation (baking) in the evening and a friend slept over for the last two nights.
But i'm happy that I am staying consistent with my workout. This evening is finally not that busy and I can relax.

Have a great time bees :perfect:

Ah. That we would call a play.

I thought you meant a dramatization of the advent story.

Congratulations on earning your Golden Apple!

Thank you @Laura Rainbow Dragon for the congratulations and for improving my language skills. I understand a lot and can listen to english tv-shows or podcasts. But talking and writing are more difficult.
I am always amazed at how well you (and others on here for whom English is not their first language) do!

English is a very wordy language! And we have a lot of cases like this where we have multiple words that actually more-or-less mean the same thing, and all these strange nuances that dictate which one is used in a given context. (And sometimes also the same word is used in wildly disparate contexts. Like how we say, "Christmas pageant" to mean a play about the nativity of Jesus, but also "beauty pageant" to mean a spectacle in which contestants are judged, in large part, on their sex appeal.)

@Laura Rainbow Dragon, yes, english is a wordy language, but all the nuances make it fun to learn, because there is always something new to discover (e.g. I didn't know that pageant is used for beauty pageant). But at the same time english is not too difficult to learn and enables you to communicate with a lot of people like all of you, so I love that.

Unbound Day 19-20

Life things: Yesterday evening we had a impro theater show, the impro advent-calendar, which was really fun. I helped behind the scenes, so it was a busy day. Today is more about packing and cleaning, but it's not that much anymore. Tomorrow we will be traveling home, I don't know if I will be able to post, but I'm determindes to keep exercising every day. It will be a long train travel again, around 10-11h and with the Deutsche Bahn you have to be prepared for everything. You only got a 50/50 chance that your train is on time. But at least I'm used to it.

This fun old song describes it pretty good, I'm sorry it's on german. But I have to admit that the service has increased and is not that bad anymore as described in the song. The toilets are most of the time usable and the food in the bord bisto is ok too.

Have great holidays bees :perfect:

The toilet scene in that video should come with a content warning! Yikes!

When I was at uni, our passenger rail service had a guarantee that if your train arrived more than 20 minutes late at your destination, you got a credit worth 50% of the price of your ticket off your next fare. It was great for starving students because it meant we almost never had to pay more than half price for a ticket! (The service was losing too much money though. So they changed the rule. Now you only get the 50% credit if your train is more than 3 hours late.)
