Hoooah... stubborn toddler is stubborn, and cranky, when he decides he doesn't want a nap.
Today turned out nicer than expected. We really only had about a 2 hour thunderstorm and then it was warm and partly sunny.
The plan was to enjoy the inside during the rain, Biggie would go down for his nap allowing Munchie to watch the second Frozen, then we'd go out and splash in some puddles and come back in for a special bath.
Well, Biggie didn't nap, Munchie didn't watch Frozen, but we did go out for puddle stomping so that was fun.
We just went around the block really, and sadly, for all the "frozen ground won't absorb the water" warnings, most of the good looking puddles during the storm were gone. There were a few good jumpers, but after Biggie tried following Munchie in her big splashes, he decided he much preferred just stomping in shallower ones.
We have a neighbour across the street who has an RC truck that he's started bringing out on nice days. He had it out again as we came around the last corner, and Munchie (who is obsessed with anything vehicular) plunked herself down on what was left of the snow hill and watched him drive it. I told her that no matter how close he brought the car to her she was not allowed to touch it, and she was very good. Biggie played on our bigger snow hill up by the house for a few minutes, before plunking down beside Munchie and watching the truck too. The neighbour is very sweet and drives the truck close to the kids like it's saying hello, and then races it around doing tricks. He jumped it over the snow hill behind Biggie and that was it for him, he was up in my arms because he felt the truck was too close. That was when I realized his 'muck pants' weren't as waterproof as I might have hoped and we went inside.
Then it was surprise bath time!! I had purchased a bunch of glowy stuff - normal sticks for necklaces, bracelets, and star wands. Fill up the bath, crack the glowies, drop the kids in, turn off the lights, easily half an hour of bath time fun. Managed to get their hair washed, and then we brought the glowies upstairs for some DannyGo dancing because he's got a glowstick shapes video that the kids danced to about half a dozen times.
Munchie was honestly the best behaviour I've seen in forever, even on the walk. She's doing such a good job! Biggie was cranky and easily frustrated, for obvious reasons. I managed to stay somewhat cool about it, but to be honest, I yelled more than I needed to. Munchie worried a couple of times that it was at her, and asked me if I was mad at her. I took some time to cool down and explain that no, I was frustrated with Biggie, who was not listening (especially when it came to staying at the kiddie table when he was eating) and also hadn't had a nap and I would try to calm down. Which I did, maybe not to perfect Mom levels, but enough. We played Munchie's favourite imagination game "Magic Nice Statue" which is inspired by a Bluey episode, but modified to fit Munchie's ideas of a good game.

Food was whatever I could feasibly get the kids to eat. I gave Munchie some options and she's decided she hates pasta. (Which fair, we eat a lot of it. She went on a rice strike for about 6 months but has started eating it a little bit again). We had grilled cheese and hot dogs with strawberries, and I call that balanced enough. She's still at the stage of: we need to get as many calories into her as possible to get her weight up another couple pounds. So if catering to her tastes right now accomplishes that, and is something that Biggie will also eat, fair game.
Hubby came home from 'work' (helping out at the hobby store) and helped out with bedtime. Biggie was still fighting sleep every step of the way, until he choked on his milk bottle, once that was sorted he dropped, and I went to the gym.
Today Zero Hero was cardio (butt kicks and march steps) and I knew I needed to 'beat myself up' to get the good endorphins flowing, so I added a weight circuit I had pop up on TikTok for added measure.

7 minutes warmup program on recumbent bike

36 leg extensions on machine set at lowest setting - 3 sets of 12 with feet in different positions to work different muscles (physio exercize)

32 leg adductions on machine set on second lowest setting - 2 sets of 16 (physio exercize)

Zero Hero Day 4 - Level 1

24 Dumbbell Plank Rows with 5 lb dumbbells - 2 sets of 12

24 Russian Twist with 17.5 lb kettlebell - 2 sets of 12

24 Overhead Triceps Press with 10 lb dumbbells - 2 sets of 12

30 W-press with 5 lb dumbbells - 3 sets of 10 between Zero Hero
Then I went on the recovery bed that has cold and hot sections as well as a knee wrap around and leg compression to make sure my owies aren't too bad.
Now I'm chilling with a cider and chatting with Hubby about his new Magic the Gathering Deck, looking forward to tomorrow where I'll have grown up backup.
