"Getting strong enough to keep two tiny humans from unaliving themselves."
Thank you guys! It only took me what, 2 years to complete another program? :amused:

Last night Munchie was wiped after Grandparents Day 1, today is Day 2 and her other Gramma is going to be there. This time they get let out early after Grandparents Day is over so if she needs a nap she can get one. :night:

Apparently my Mom had a little throw down with the VP yesterday after lunch time because as she and her husband were coming back into the school, Munchie was being escorted back to her classroom after having a time out in the office. Mom grilled the VP a bit about the situation (I doubt she was rude, but she is concerned about Munchie being singled out), the VP did her best to be diplomatic (according to the phone call Hubby got), and Hubby has an appointment with the Principal and VP first thing Monday morning. :corner:

Biggie's doing good, we figured out some of his issue for the last couple of days could have been his lack of bowel movements, but he sorted that out last night. :emergency:

As for me, yesterday:

:star: Day 1 Spellbound - Charged and Cast Silent Step
:star: Day 1 Easy Core
:star: EOD - 30 Seconds W Extensions +EC
:star: Day 1 Counting Victories
:star: Day 1 Daily Gratitude
:star: Steps 1,222
:star: Streak 25

I'm a little miffed about the step count because today is garbage day so we were doing a bunch of running around the house, up and down the stairs, tidying up, gathering garbage, cleaning out the cat littler, lifting, moving.... and I didn't have my phone in my pocket so none of it got tracked! Oh well, I get the benefit even if I don't have the numbers to prove it. :sadness:

This next week is going to be a bit crazy. Firstly, my work is taking part in North American Occupational Safety and Health week, which includes a contest and an app to track things like steps. So there will be much more walking I think, just to try and do my part for the challenge. :jacks:

Secondly, Hubby's Aunt (who is blind with a service dog) is coming into town tomorrow from BC, she's staying with Hubby's Mom, thankfully, but does want to meet Biggie and see Munchie again (I have been superfluous in these things since Munchie was born, Hubby too for that matter), so that will be taking up some time with visits. :trail:

This weekend should be quiet at least, no huge adventures or craziness on the horizon at least. :chilling:

I just realized that I did Easy Core yesterday instead of Core Control, so I've decided to add that challenge to my list (my core can use it), and caught up Core Control today and continued Easy core. Will do my completed list in my next update post :D

I am sore, but in a good way, so much done this weekend! :super:

So.. surprise surprise, Mom had some reflection and there was no "Yanking" happening to Munchie by her teacher. Hubby went and had a chat with the Principal and VP today and there was some constructive discussion. He currently has the "reports" from Munchie's file and is going over it to see what was retaliatory, what is behaviour that is not seen at home or grandparents', and what is other. We are already seeing some trends. :whaa:

Due to Munchie getting an early dismissal on Friday, things were a tad hectic. Biggie ended up going to work with Hubby (just to the parking lot where I met up with them), he had dinner in the car, and then drove to pick up Munchie from Gramma's, then waited for Munchie, then drove home. The poor kid was strapped in the car for over an hour, so before anything else, we went for a walk around the block. He picked up a handful of sticks, that travelled with us till we got to where the pinecones were, those came with us until he wanted some dandelions, and those actually made it back home where they got dropped in the garden. :ambush:

Munchie checked off the cards we collected on our walking app (There are two cards that we can get with just a walk around the block and she likes to try and get them as many days as possible). She also grabbed some flowers so that we could "Investigate!" what they were on my plant identifier app. :flowers:

As I stated on Friday, I realized I started the wrong challenge, but enjoyed it so much (and could use the extra core work) I decided to just do both. They're easy challenges so I'm not over taxing myself. :yas:

Saturday we got up and had an easy morning, then Munchie went to have a playdate at Gramma's, since Hubby's aunt was coming in for 10 days and Gramma wouldn't get to hang out really during that time. Hubby went to work. Biggie and I went to get some groceries and some lunch. Then he ate a little smorgasbord of various lunch things while I put the groceries away. Once that was done we chilled for a bit and he went for his nap. That lasted just long enough for me to have a bath, and then he crashed on the couch for 2 hours. Once he woke up we went out for a walk, this time he wanted to ride in his stroller so he could keep track of his treasures. He loves to pick up nature things, sticks, flowers, rocks, leaves, and then bring them home and carefully put them on the patio in the backyard. When we got home, I left Biggie in the stroller with his stuff on the driveway and mowed the lawn. :clapclap:

Bedtime was a bit later because Hubby went to grab his Aunt from the airport and had a small visit with Aunt and Gramma. When they got home, Biggie and Munchie had a reunion and wanted to run around, but the playroom was not anywhere clean enough for that. So we took some time and got all the toys put away. Both kids did a great job helping out with that. Bedtime was a bit rough because both kids were over stimulated and over tired but we got it done and I went to the gym.

Sunday we randomly decided to go to church and the kids had a blast. I didn't vibe with the sermon but there were a couple of things that I could pull from it. After that we went for a visit at Gramma's with Hubby's Aunt. This was her first time meeting Biggie, and she's blind, so it was fun seeing her reaction to how big he actually is. Gramma wanted us to be outside, but it was too cold, so she was stressed having us, the kids, aunt, and aunt's guide dog all in the house. The visit was short, then we got home and did lunch. Took a bit of time to get Biggie down for his nap, he was overstimulated after the dog. He went down a bit late. Munchie and I took the opportunity to bake some cookies for our new neighbours, then she played a bit on the phone while waiting for her call with a University for a kids study. Biggie woke up about halfway through that and I took him for a walk around the block (collecting nature stuff along the way). We of course had to go into the backyard so he could sort it, and I left him with Hubby and took Munchie over to welcome the neighbours and met their dog. :lovelots:

It started to sprinkle a bit so we went in. Since the playroom had remained clean all morning, I took the opportunity to vacuum it while the kids and Hubby played keepy uppy with some balloons. Then got some more chores done around the house. Munchie has remembered the "Exercize Game" but she has grown! This time she read through the first four days of Spellbound, and then decided she needed to charge the Persuasion spell herself, and she did! She had me sit on the couch (except when I had to protect her from Biggie trying to push her over) and tell her the next move so she could remember. :tuzki-love:

It cleared up enough for me to BBQ for dinner. Sausages broccoli and baked potatoes. Munchie supervised and listened to safety rules while playing in the backyard. Then it was throwing the kids through a bath, bedtime, and off to the gym. :waltz:

It was super quiet due to the NHL Playoffs, which allowed me to enjoy the massage chairs and beds a bit longer than normal. :softz:

I definitely did a bunch of stretching on my calves after this Spell, then I relaxed for a bit and enjoyed all the massage benefits.

Today I'm doing a bit extra (went for a walk in the natural area across from my work) in order to get points for the NAOSH week challenge at work. I'm going to be hitting the gym a bunch this week to help my team out. :gotthis:

Well I didn't go to the gym last night. After getting Munchie and Biggie to bed, my knee was a bit sore so I decided to stay home and finish things off there. Turns out, my knee was sore because we had a wicked thunderstorm that was headed our way. Loud enough to wake Munchie, who needed some comfort and cuddles to wait out the storm. Then I decided to have a soak and try to relax my kneed and back because exercize makes muscles tight, which is a good thing, but stiffness is stiffness. :heartz:

I love seeing all the gold stars line up. Like I said way back when they were suggested, I'll do just about anything for a gold star, those 80s/90s incentives just worked. :amused:

Not sure how much I'll get done tonight, part of it will depend on the weather. I was calling for rain all day yesterday, but now it looks like it's going to be beautiful. I'll probably do another hike across the street at lunch, but if it's not windy I may also take advantage of the quiet to record a section for LibriVox. Their clean up month is going great and I've grabbed a couple recording parts to help out. If I can get them recorded today, then I can see about editing them tonight since Hubby has Hockey Talk with his fantasy league tonight and needs me to stay home. :scroll:

I have hit a point in my exercizing that I've hit a number of times before. Where my muscles are starting to tighten up and I can feel the strength in them. Now to keep the process going and have them continue to get stronger. Unfortunately, they are also stiff and sore, but I have a massage lined up for my mother's day gift next week, so I'm sure I will feel much better. :lovable:

The scale has been unfriendly to me, but my waist measurement is down. This is why we don't base our self worth on one number and only one number. Health is the goal, not thinness, I'd rather be bigger and strong enough to carry both kids around, than tiny and hardly able to lift them. :yas:

I decided to spend my lunch yesterday knitting on my socks. I used to be able to get a pair of socks done in a week or so, and now these ones have been on my needles for over a year. Such is the reality of a mother of active children! :celeb:

Tonight I was planning on staying home again thinking Hubby had D&D but the Leafs playing on Thursdays is setting his group back, so he told me I can go to the gym. :shine:

My knee is a bit tired and sore, at first I was worried I reinjured it, but then I realized it's one muscle that's tight up in my hip. I've been using my standing desk and doing what I can to stretch that muscle and that does appear to be helping. I'm going to take squats and lunges easy and not so deep for a while to give it a rest. :surrender:

So, in getting stronger news, I was able to do updog to downdog to plank to downdog to updog without putting my knees down! :fantastic:

Yesterday I got some job news that has me taking a deep breath and getting ready to launch. It's a shift but it's not bad, just means the next bit is going to be a lot of change, a lot of new responsibilities and expectations, and a lot of hard work. I'm going to have to maintain my boundaries of what I'm willing to do (eg, my day ends at 5, I don't do last minute jobs that are sent to me at 4:58, they can wait until tomorrow or go to our west coast team, your poor planning does not an emergency make). :cantcope:

Hubby had a stressful afternoon. His mom wanted him to bring the kids over in the afternoon to visit his aunt, however she was also preparing a bbq supper at that time. Apparently it was a fiasco, everything got set back for our dinner, the kids were upset because nothing was right. :owly:

For example, MIL had cooked us some steaks to "make dinner easier" but Hubby doesn't BBQ, he tried getting potatoes ready but they weren't good for roasting so he made mashed. I got home a bit late as I was pulled into a meeting at the end of the day re: the job news, and he needed me to warm the steaks up, which meant I needed to get the BBQ warmed up. Munchie likes to "supervise me" while I'm BBQing, but Biggie doesn't yet follow all the safety instructions so he's not allowed out when the BBQ's on. So he had a meltdown that I was outside, and because we were just warming the steaks, not cooking them, Munchie was upset that she couldn't go outside. Then as I was cuddling them to calm them down, Hubby needed help, and then I needed to warm the steaks for all of 2 minutes, then try and get everything cut and served with a little boy who hates mashed potatoes and at the moment decided he hated steak (some Cheerios and crackers to get him started eating got him to finish his dinner), and a little girl who had so much to tell me about her day but had to sit down and eat. :yellz:

It continued from there, but all told once dinner was done we got things a bit back on even keel by taking them out for ice cream. Truly they'd both done amazingly well all things considered. As we were coming home from Ice Cream, Munchie requested that she and I get off early so we could collect a card in our walking app. We hopped out, Hubby drove home, and then I noticed he and Biggie running towards us. Biggie didn't want to be left out of our walk and had been quite upset when they drove the rest of the way home. :nomz:

Then it was bath, bed, and Mommy off to the gym.

My knee was bugging me the whole time yesterday, so I took advantage of the hot/cold bed with the special knee/shoulder extension. I did half of the time cold, half hot on my knee and that seems to have really helped it. Then I enjoyed the massage chair. I finished Legends & Lattes and the short story at the end of the second edition of the book that I have. I really enjoyed that series and I'm looking forward to book 2 that's coming out in the fall. :softz:

Now I'm trying, for the 3rd time, to read For Whom the Belle Tolls (it's a book based on a TikTok series I enjoy). The last two times I was actually reading it and stalled. Now that I've found the text reader on my phone I'm hoping I can actually get through it. I really do enjoy the book so far that I've read it, but proof reading is a big part of my job and my eyes get tired. Plus I just get exhausted sometimes with the kids, and once I stall for more than a week, I'm more likely to pick up another book than continue where I left off. So I'm starting over and I'm determined to finish it. :butt:

Last night was calmer at least, partly because Munchie was bushed and slept from 5:30-7:45, woke up to eat and do bedtime routine, then crashed for the night. She made sure to proudly tell me that she "Ate more than Biggie!" We are very happy with the progress for her weight. She's still well under average, but she's not scary skinny anymore. :approve:

After getting the kids to bed, I ran to do a couple of errands and then hit the gym. :twirl:

After getting home I chilled with Hubby for a bit, then crashed. Sadly it was not long lived, Biggie is having "Return of the Molars" as his next couple are trying to come in. He was up and down from 12-3 which Hubby covered before tapping out. Then he was up straight from 3-5 with me, I realized at 4 it was likely his teeth and gave him a Kids Advil, and he finally crashed just before 5. Got him into bed, laid down knowing I wouldn't have much more than an hour before Munchie woke me up, and woke me up she did. :crawl:

At 6:10 I opened my eyes to Iron Man silently staring at me inches from my face. :shakez:

I managed not to scream. She was so proud of herself for getting her full costume on without any help.

So, copious amounts of caffeine for me today, and a preemptive Kids Advil for Biggie before bed tonight. :kcoffee:

Hubby is working tonight so it will be a no gym day, but I have a LibriVox recording I'm hoping to get done on lunch and then will use tonight to edit it. :type:

I also have choice of spell to charge, so I'm picking one I can do at my desk. :freak:

Whoo what a weekend! Finally we had some nice weather where the temperature didn't drop or rain come through and the kids and I could get OUT! :chilling:

Now that Biggie is an actual. Flippin. Child. and I can trust him to not put everything in his mouth, and (for the most part) he will do walks under his own power, we well be doing the outdoorsy stuff. :ambush:

Our summer is going to be: Outside in the morning, inside for lunch/Biggie nap/heat of the day, Outside in the afternoon. Because really, what's the point of being a kid over summer if you're just stuck inside. :watermelon:

I also really appreciate that I have two kiddos who, while exposed to electronics more than a lot of Mommy groups would say was wise, will always choose outside over in, even if outside is kind of unsafe... hello ice/thunder storms. :heartsit:

So the rundown for Friday was:

:star: Day 9 Spellbound - Charged Shield and Earth Rift - Ready for the swamps
:star: Day 9 Easy Core
:star: Day 9 Core Control
:star: Day 9 Counting Victories
:star: Day 9 Daily Gratitude
:star: Steps 1,787
:star: Streak 33

Low key night, not a lot done, did my dailies basically and then chilled out. The kids had already eaten when I got home, so I just fed myself, played a bit, and got them into bed. I did my editing of my LibriVox section and chatted with Hubby when he came home. All told, easy day, but I had plans for the morrow. :drywash:

Saturday we got up, the kids ate pretty well as their supper had been early. We did our normal morning relaxing, and then I told them we had an adventure to go on. :flowerkitty:

We did a new hike in our town by the river, had a snack, climbed some trees, and checked out a really cool little library where each kid grabbed a copy of Owl magazine and two books. Biggie got two board books that he's enjoying flipping through, Munchie grabbed a copy of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and the second book of The Last Firehawk series.

We were just down the road from where Hubby was working so we took him some Tims. Both kids crashed in the car for 20 ish minutes, but that didn't last through the transfer into the house. It was what it was, and I warned Hubby that bedtime might be interesting. Since Sunday was Mother's day and we were going to be seeing both Grandmas, I knew we needed to throw both kids through a bath. In order to make it more fun, we went out to the dollar store and got a ton of glowsticks! (Enough for 2 baths really.) and some chocolate pancake mix that had Abby Cadaby on the package. Biggie refused to let anyone else hold it in the store, and would inform anyone who passed us that he had "Abbygadabbidabbi" pancake mix. :twirl:

We got home, did the bath, got both kids clean and then had a bit of quiet time before making supper. :gots:

At bedtime, Munchie and I started Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and will be reading a chapter each night at bedtime. Then I ran to the gym and worked off some of my extra nervous energy regarding Sunday. I apparently lost my ability to count and did day 9 of the core challenges before doing day 10. My abs could probably use it. :crawl:

Sunday was wonderful, I got a lovely card, a pansy that's going in the garden, and a painting made by Munchie, the card was signed for Biggie by Munchie too. We went to church (which was a different pastor this week and a much less enraging sermon), the kids had a blast. They were on best behaviour. We went to lunch at Tims and both did a fantastic job. They keep this up and we might be able to actually start going to restaurants with them soon. :hooray:

Then it was up to my Mom's for a few hours. Biggie got another short nap in the car but made it through the day really well. Munchie brought her Firehawk book and read the first 5 chapters all on her own on the way up. :cute:

We had a very nice visit, my aunt and cousin were there, and my brother showed up for a bit. The kids played with Grandpa and really had a great time. Then we packed up and headed back down to our town to see other Gramma. Munchie read her way through another few chapters before crashing for a quick car nap. Seeing how she was devouring that book, I grabbed the first book in the series. (She basically finished that book this morning while waiting for a doctor's checkup, so I'm so glad I got the first book so she can keep going. If she enjoys this series there are 12 books in it, and I will happily keep picking more up for her). :makeway:

We grabbed supper on the way (for those keeping track that means we'd now had take out for most meals...) and they had a nice visit playing in the backyard an blowing bubbles. Munchie said her goodbyes and stayed at Gramma's for a sleepover. :night:

We got home, got things settled, and Hubby told me he had things good for Biggie and I should get out and have a bit of Mother's day to myself. So I went to my favourite Taco restaurant (real soft tacos btw), then to the gym, and busted my butt! :verysadkitty:

I have been eyeing one machine in the gym, I set a goal in January that I wanted to be able to do one unassisted pull up, but I don't think I'm going to get there by the end of December. This machine looked like it did assisted pull ups/triceps dips, but I couldn't figure out how it was working. So, the machines were open since I was there earlier than normal and I took my chance to give it a try. It assists by how much weight it takes to drop knee pad, and while I was able to do 10 pull ups with it at 40 kg, it was hard. 50 kg was more comfortable, but I realized I could change up my goal. Rather than 1 unassisted pull up, I will be happy to be able to do 10 pull ups with the machine weight at 30 kg. I think that would show a decent amount of improvement. :yas:

After trying out the new machine, my shoulders are sore but in a good way. I also enjoyed the massage beds for all they were worth! :2hot:

My actual Mother's Day is going to be Wednesday, I have a massage scheduled and I'm just going to enjoy a quiet afternoon. :flat:

Today I have my normal dailies to do and I'll be likely enjoying a bit of quiet time this evening with the kids. :celeb:

As suspected, yesterday was a quiet one (at home). Work was busy, but I got a lovely surprise lunch date from Hubby who was out and about running errands. The good news, Munchie's weight is good, the teacher/VP are out to lunch with her speech, there are no concerns as to a lisp or clarity in her speech. She's going to be given a recommendation to an allergist, Hubby and I have several allergies, both food and environmental, and she's got some symptoms that could be related, so it's good to get her checked. :tuzki-hero:

Lots of kid cuddles after work, Munchie was having a nap when I got home, and I had to wake her up for dinner. She was fine for bed and had a bunch to tell me about school and her book. We bought book 3 and 4 in the series as she's blasting through the second book. :whaa:

After bedtime, it was off to the gym for me. I thought I might see if I could record a small thing for LibriVox before heading in, but just as I got going, a car alarm started going off and on. I took that as my sign to get my butt in the gym. :trail:

I was a bit sore from everything I did on Sunday, so I stuck to the basics this time.

Spent yesterday catching up after Wednesday's day off, so now I have to catch up here. :amused:

Tuesday night I chose to have a bath in preparation for my massage, so I did not go to the gym. Instead I did Day 13 in my bedroom while Munchie was having her bath playtime. :dkitty:

Wednesday I woke up with Munchie and took her out for breakfast. She was very excited to see that McDonalds has Squismallows right now. Then we went home to grab her lunch and I dropped her off at school. Went home again, grabbed Biggie, dropped him off at Daycare. Went home again.... had a quick breakfast, and chilled in the driveway for a bit to do some LibriVox recording. Then headed out with Hubby for my massage. :twirl:

After the wonderful massage, went out to a meh lunch with Hubby. We don't know what's up, but service at restaurants has really slowed down since before the pandemic. The last number of times we've gone to an actual sit down restaurant it's just taken forever and the food hasn't been that great. Then we went and got some new coffee syrups for me as the ones I have from Christmas are finally running out. :kcoffee:

I then dropped Hubby off so he could have a nap (Biggie is still having issues at night, we know he's got 2 more molars on the way, but we're starting to wonder if he has seasonal allergies too and it's causing him to have trouble breathing when sleeping). I grabbed a cold brew and chilled in the parking lot at a park to get some more recording done. Once I was too sweltering hot in the car, I went to get Munchie. :flowerkitty:

I gave her the option of going to Tim's like she usually does with Daddy, or going for a walk around the block with me to grab two cards for our walking app. She chose the walk! We had a good chat about school and then went to pick up Biggie. :celeb:

Supper was quick and easy, and I did my challenges to keep my streak going, but left Spellbound to finish another day.

Yesterday was a pretty chill day. I went to visit a friend in the evening rather than the gym. I, again, did my challenges to keep my streak going, but left Spellbound. I will be catching up tonight, likely with the kiddos after Hubby goes to work. Today's Spellbound has bridges... I can bet there will be kids crawling under the bridge tonight. :moves:

We'll also see how the evening is, it's supposed to be quite warm today, but if it's nice enough I may take the kids out for a walk or to the park for a bit. :chilling:

"Getting strong enough to keep two tiny humans from unaliving themselves."
Well, my weekend didn't go as planned. Shortly after my last post I started to feel awful. Ultimately, I came down with a terrible cold: body aches, deep chest cough, and finally laryngitis. I managed to pep myself up enough each day to not lose my streak, but not enough to actually do some Spellbound. :crawl:

Friday Munchie had a Gramma sleep over (and wasn't going to come home until just before bedtime on Saturday, which was a blessing with how ill I was), so Biggie and I had dinner and chilled for the evening. He also seemed to have come down with something, and both of us had fevers, so we cuddled on the couch until bedtime. He loves to 'tickle' right now, unfortunately when I get this sick all of my skin hurts, so it was not a fun experience for me. :tearz:

Once he was down and Hubby came home, I had a hot bath to sooth my aches, and tried to sleep as best I could.

:star: 40 Torso Twists

Saturday I was still down and out, Biggie and I chilled again. In the afternoon, after his nap, we both rallied and I took him for a nature walk around the block, then he played in the backyard for a bit. We have a bunch of outside toys, but this child is never happier than if he has a bucket that he can put all his rocks and pinecones and other treasures in. :ambush:

Munchie came home and we had big cuddle times. Then my coughing started and was a big issue, lots of 'clearing out' happening. Around that I managed to help the kids tidy up the playroom, and then get them to bed. Had another bath to relax the sore muscles, and, again, tried to sleep. :shoked:

:star: 15 minute walk around the block
:star: Steps 2,957
:star: Streak 41

Sunday, Munchie woke me up, told me she wasn't feeling well, and when I told her I wasn't either she said "I think we should stay home from Church today." :giggle:

We played at home in the morning, then Hubby took Munchie out for a bit of an adventure while I got Biggie down for his nap. Once he woke up, Hubby and Munchie weren't back, but I was feeling pretty good and he was squirmy. So we did a walk down to our nearest Tims for a snack and met up with Hubby and Munchie so I didn't have to walk back. :amused:

Dinner was disliked by Munchie, but, after a bit of coaxing with blueberries, Biggie ate all of his portion. We kept things quiet as my coughing kicked up again as we got closer to bedtime. Luckily bath and such was done quickly and everything was settled.

Monday was Victoria Day so we were all at home. Again we stayed quiet to try and get everyone better. Hubby took the toy kitchen to some friends for their daughter (our kids weren't really playing with it), and then we did a family walk around the block which was fun. Then a quick and easy dinner, before bath and bed. :celeb:

:star: 15 Minute walk around the block

Yesterday I stayed home from work, I woke up with absolutely no voice and still feeling pretty bad. I tried to go for a nap, but was coughing too much to sleep. Sitting up worked a lot better. I took it very easy for most of the day, but ended up with a really terrible step count because I forgot my phone on the couch for most of the day. My exercise for Tuesday was cleaning up and vacuuming the playroom, with Biggie's help. :standby:

Hubby was supposed to help with bedtime, but he noticed that our car got hit at some point during his errands. He then ran up to the collision centre to get it documented. Due to that I let the kids have some screen time. I taught Munchie how to play Mahjong and she took it and ran! Biggie was playing some toddler games on my phone. Then I got them ready for bed, let Munchie head to sleep in the guest bed, and cuddled Biggie to sleep. :whaa:

I took the opportunity to head to bed early, and while I was up from 1-3, I did manage to get a decent amount of sleep, and I'm at work today.

:star: Cleaned and vacuumed the playroom
:star: Steps 489

I don't think I'm making it to the gym tonight, I'm still pretty winded and coughing a bunch, so I'll probably do some of the challenge days I missed over the weekend. :jacks:

Barely did enough last night to keep my streak, but I'm going easy on myself because this cold is kicking my butt. I will say though, when it's a 2 kid bath night, I swear that feels like a workout in and of itself. :hehehe:

:star: 20 Minute walk through store on lunch

I'm going to be taking it easy again tonight. It's more important to get over my cold than work myself exhausted. :scroll:

Today is Hubby and My 15th wedding anniversary. We're going to have a quiet night at home, maybe have a drink. Eventually we'll get to have a big party for one of these, but our 10 year was overtaken by Covid, and this year we're just too busy and too poor (said jokingly, we are not in dire straights, we just don't have the extra funds to throw a big party). :celebrate:

I miss going to the gym, but I don't think it's a good idea when I'm still having coughing fits and sound like I've been strangled. :choke:

We had a lovely, if quiet, night. Dinner was a bit crazy, Biggie, who had demanded a hamburger all evening, decided he didn't really want it right then and let us know, loudly. :happys:

We also discovered that Munchie had not eaten ANY of her lunch. Thursdays are with the teacher who is actually a middle school teacher, and also the teacher who has the biggest issue with Munchie. :owly:

When Hubby picked Munchie up at school that evening, the teacher gave mild pleasantries and then mentioned Munchie needed to not throw her bag on the ground. We assumed that she'd had a good day. When we discovered her lunch, we tried to figure out why she didn't eat it (she waffled between not remembering and being distracted by other kids). We asked if she'd been in the office and she said "Not for lunch, that was later.".... 'scuse me? Turns out, she was sent to the office for throwing 3 (and she said the number multiple times) toys at the teacher. :whaa:

This teacher makes sure we know when she's been using 'potty language' like bum and poopy, but not when she threw 3 toys at her?! So, we're going to see how today goes with the other teacher, and then Hubby is going to go into the office and clear some stuff up on Monday. Mainly... if said middle school teacher has given up on Munchie and won't even ensure she eats her lunch (which she does fine with the other teacher), then we're just not sending Munchie into school on Mondays and Thursdays. There's only a few weeks left, make it easier on the teacher, and we know Munchie will get more benefit from a day with her Gramma or Dad. :smash:

I can't wait till next year when we have 1 teacher, 1 set of rules, her own desk, and hopefully no preconceptions of her being the 'bad kid'. :standby:

She has NONE of these issues at Sunday School when she has a different group of kids around. We've signed her up for camp at the Church for a few weeks this summer, and hopefully she'll get more confidence when she doesn't have the situation pitted against her from the start. :pmode:

Since Biggie wasn't interested in eating right then, Munchie had finished her supper, and Hubby needed a few moments to get his rage at the teacher in check, I took the kids out puddle jumping.

puddles.jpg

It's been cold and rainy all week, but luckily it was just warm enough, and slow enough rain, to make the puddles perfect for splashing.

We went around the block and the kids checked out the world covered in water. Biggie still collected some sticks and rocks, and then fussed for about 30 seconds when we had to go back inside. Then he realized he was hungry, had a hamburger waiting for him, and calmed right down to eat. :eatall:

Then Hubby had to go to his moms, which took twice as long as we were expecting, so bedtime was slightly rushed, before I jumped into a bath waiting for Biggie to drop.

Hubby and I enjoyed a drink and a reminisce about some of our favourite times over the last 15+ years together. :love-attack:

Then I tried to sleep, but coughing got the better of me, which turned out to be helpful a bit, as Biggie couldn't sleep either. We chilled on the couch until Munchie came and got us this morning. :roadkill:

Yesterday was another easy exercize day, but this cough persists and I don't want to give it any reason to catch hold again.

:star: 20 minute walk/puddle jump around the block

Tonight Hubby is working, so Munchie will be downstairs, and Biggie will hopefully drop quick-ish for me. Maybe I'll be able to get the kids to do some workout stuff with me. :jacks:

First off, YAY my voice is back! I still have a cough, and can't hit the high notes in Let it Go for Munchie but we're getting there. :support:

Surprise, surprise... with the good teacher, Munchie ate ALL of her lunch. That being said, she almost didn't go to school today because yesterday her eye was weeping and goopy and we were worried we were on her way to Pink Eye again. This morning she claimed she needed a nap before breakfast and that she wasn't feeling up to school, but her eye was clear, and we're not sure how much of this is due to her actually feeling off, or due to the teacher / a student who's started to be rather nasty to her. :onfire:

On Friday before school she started mentioning "I hope the bully *name* isn't there" a couple of times as I was leaving for work. I only had a minute to talk to her about it, but then on the way to school she mentioned that child again and that he was being particularly mean to her. Hubby mentioned it to the (good) teacher and she stated that they both kind of have the same personalities and butt heads a bunch, but that she would keep an eye on it.

Lo and behold, at the end of the day, said child provoked Munchie to drop her pants or "no one will be friends with you." Luckily, the teacher witnessed the interaction, had the heads up from Hubby, and reacted appropriately for that situation. :butt:

We're mildly worried about what's going to happen today.

Friday was a bit of wash for kiddos. They were both just done by the time I came home. They had chacuterie for dinner: waffles, pepperoni, cheese, berries. Sometimes it's just a day to have a balanced, but fun and easy kind of meal. :eatall:

Then we played around and cleaned up the playroom. I threw Biggie through a bath, got Munchie downstairs with the TV, and got Biggie down to bed.

Hubby came home and I went to bed relatively quickly, but Biggie had other ideas. I had just made myself comfortable and not coughing and he was up and down for the next couple hours. Eventually I realized it might be his teeth again, got him and Advil, and he was down for the rest of the night.

:star: 10 Minute Walk on lunch

:star: Steps: 2,781

Saturday was a lazy day, we had whatever for breakfast, and snacked when we were hungry for lunch. :watermelon:

We played outside for most of the morning, chalk drawings, flower checking, rock climbing, dirt digging. All the good things. Our new neighbour let his dog out in the backyard and it barked at the kids, so I invited them over for a few minutes. I figure if the dog gets to know the kids, he won't bark as much when they're all outside. (Unless he's calling over the fence that he wants to play). :ambush:

After they went home, it was Biggie's nap time and he went down quickly. Munchie had some lunch, then some screen time. I did some work on the computer, and when Biggie woke up, we continued our relaxing. :chilling:

Until, that is, 4:45 when the kids got their version of the zoomies and things got thrown, crashed into, pulled, tripped, jumped on... and ultimately, Biggie had a time out in the high chair and Munchie had some quiet time on her own. :stomp:

Supper was pancakes and fruit, because nobody has time for fighting picky kids on a Saturday, and all told they ate extremely well. :gotcookie:

Hubby came home, Biggie got his Advil, and Hubby and I had a movie night. Then EVERYBODY had a good night's sleep for the first time in a while. :night:

:star: 2 hours playing outside
:star: Steps: 1,863
:star: Streak 48

Sunday, Munchie's eye was goopy, Biggie's nose was running, and there was NO chance we were going to Church under those circumstances. Breakfast went very well, we let Hubby sleep in since he's been doing overtime kid caring with me being sick. :roadkill:

He then got the creative fully setup outside and the kids and I went out to play again, while Hubby ran some errands (he had to go get new car seats which thankfully are covered by Insurance). Part way through, Munchie decided she needed some quiet and requested to go inside and be quiet. Biggie started to fuss thinking we were all going in, and I explained (as simply as I could) that we were going back outside, I was just getting Munchie setup. After that, we had a good time outside, and Munchie chilled. :celeb:

Then it was lunch/nap time which went pretty well. Munchie played on my computer a bit, and honestly seemed a bit out of it (which of course I was watching closely with the goopy eye). We cleaned up the playroom a bit, and Hubby came home. We got the groceries sorted, Biggie woke up, and then Hubby had to run out for another errand. :pmode:

I had planned to take the kids out to the park, but that's now a 2 adult event because Biggie gets into a swing and just wants to stay there, and Munchie wants to run around and play, so we ended up staying inside a bit more. :handon:

I've started to really focus on reading books to Biggie, sometimes during bath when I have his attention, and that's got him finding new books he likes. Potato on a Bike has been a favourite since Christmas, but over the weekend, he has found a love for Brown Bear Brown Bear What do you See, and Night Night, Blue. It's been fun having him tell us the stories in his own words. He's not reading yet (obviously) but he's understanding the plot points and recognizing parts. :scroll:

Around 4:30 ish once again, the zoomies hit, and bad behaviour prevailed. The separation tactic helped a bit, but Hubby was around which meant toys were lost as well. Luckily, supper was a "throw it in the oven and when the buzzer goes, it's done" kind of meal, so we were able to regain control a bit. :kungfu:

The kids ate separately, while one was eating, the other had "Hockey time" with Hubby. By this point I was hitting my limit of kids jumping on me/screaming at me, and I made it clear to Hubby that I felt well enough to go to the gym and it would be happening after bedtime. :cantcope:

It was once again a 2 kid bath night, but we started early this time, allowing Munchie and I to get through 2 chapters of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and then allowing Biggie to get all of his foam letters and numbers up on the wall. By the time Biggie was done in the bath, Munchie was basically ready to drop, and her eye was even more worrying. I washed it a well as I could and hoped (which worked, it was clear this morning). She was asleep before I finished my terrible froggy rendition of Let it Go. :happys:

Then I fled to the gym. :waltz:

:star: 10 Minutes Treadmill
:star: 30 Leg extensions (physio)
:star: Steps 4,143
:star: Streak 50

We once again had an amazing sleep night last night, and everyone slept in this morning. :2hot:

So long as this evening goes well, I will be off to the gym. I have Spellbound to get back into, and challenges to catch up. (I'm not going to catch up a week in one go, but I will probably double up for a few days.) :bouncy:

I'm so happy to feel better and strong again. :jacks:

Work has been fun. I'm now (basically) doing the job of 2 people as my counterpart moved onto another role and we haven't yet hired a replacement. That being said, I do have a lot of support from other parts of the company, but it's still an increased workload.

Monday wasn't too bad though, I think most people were enjoying the weather and not putting things in for review, so I took it as a good thing. I did some of my challenges at my desk and got my Counting Victories and Daily Gratitude caught up. That was fun going over the week again and thinking about the stuff I did. :pose:

I fully intended on going to the gym after getting the kids to bed. Made it all the way to the parking lot, and realized I left my membership card in my hoodie at home. Took that as the universe telling me to chill. So I went home, had a drink with hubby and went to bed. :night:

Trust me, I made up for it on Tuesday. :surrender:

Yesterday Munchie woke me up and had some cuddles in bed with me before we got up and got ready for work/school. :hereforyou:

Work was, again, not too bad. The biggest issue was that due to me focusing on the extra work I'm covering (which is priority 1), some of my other little tasks are getting a big overlooked. I'm doing my best to keep on top of it, and making myself to do lists. Nothing like crossing off stuff to feel accomplished.

Munchie got home after me because she went with Gramma to get her hair trimmed. She does NOT like having her wet hair touch her back after a bath, and her bangs were getting into her eyes, so it was time. :moves:

Biggie apparently snacked like mad after daycare so dinner was picky. We had stirfry and he liked the noodles, the broccoli, and the baby corn, but really wasn't interested in much else. :eatall:

Munchie and I entered into Mr. Wonka's chocolate factory with Charlie last night during bath time, we've started doing our bedtime reading during bath so we have a bit longer to get through a chapter or two. Hubby had to run out to get ink for the printer. He has a lead on a couple of jobs, but they're old school type and he has to bring a hardcopy of his resume in. This meant bedtime was two kids on the couch cuddling with me and trying to maintain a conversation because if they stopped talking they'd go to sleep.

Once Hubby came home, both kids went down quickly and I went and kicked my own butt at the gym. :kungfu:

I know I have a lot of catch up to do after being sick, and I'm going to try and finish as close to the end of the month as I can, without over doing it. Being able to do some of the workouts at work with my standing desk is a nice benefit. :chicken:

It's amazing how small things like reverse W's, reverse flys, and reverse angels can really work muscles you don't think of. No weights, but geeze do I feel it. :amused:

I am starting to see actual progress, in fact Hubby is seeing progress too. For the first time ever in my life, someone checked out my upper arms and went "oooo" appreciatively! :flex:

I proceeded to show him how the strength goes all the way down my arms (thanks in part to Biggie), and also that my abs are coming back! There are parts of my body that will never be tight and tiny without surgery, but that I take as marks of honour for my body bringing two lives safely into the world. I'm even starting to love my stretch marks. :doit:

I didn't go to the gym last night, I needed a bath and decided to enjoy it after the kids went to bed instead of the gym. The work I did above was entirely done at my standing desk, though Day 18 of Spellbound does need to be done partially on the floor so I think that will need a gym visit tonight. :yaaay:

Biggie took a bit to get to bed, and then woke up about an hour later needing cuddles. Hubby initially had him, then I took him and walked him around for about a half hour. The poor kid didn't know up from down I think. He was wailing in my ear "NO DADDY NO DADDY GO 'WAY!!!!" to which I said, "I'm not Daddy, Daddy's gone away already". Biggie then squinted at me for a few seconds of silence, then "NO MOMMY!!!!!!!" :chuckle:

I padded around the room a bit not saying anything and he dropped pretty quickly. It took longer for him to fall deep enough asleep to get back into bed, but my newly impressive arms could manage that.

I know I'm going to end up into June with these Challenges and Spellbound, there's just no way to safely catch up by the end of the month, so I'm probably going to putter around for the rest of June and try out some of the daily/random workouts, and maybe see about trying different machines at the gym. :yas:

So Biggie decided the gym was not for me last night. Due to a rather odd set of circumstances, he brought his feet crashing down on the bridge of my nose, knocking off and bending my glasses (which were fixable), and making me see stars. My nose is a bit swollen today, but my whole head hurt last night and the gym just was not it. :yellz:

I did enough side bends to feel I earned my star.

I took the time at home to get a bunch of editing done for LibriVox, managed to get a small part recorded from Munchie (her first LV recording... I wipe a tear in posterity), and edited it to send off. I have a massive project, that will likely take a couple of years to finish, starting up over the weekend and I'm ridiculously excited for it. It's a dramatic reading of my favourite book ever, and I just can't wait to hear these characters brought to life!

I've been battling lawn care crews during my lunch time, which is also my recording time. Yesterday I took a bit of a drive to see if I could find a parking lot that was away from roads, didn't have grass that needed trimming, and not too close to places birds would be screaming at each other. Now that I have a spot to go I'm going to blast through some things that I owe and finally get a few books into the catalogue! :chicken:

Tonight is hubby's work night, so it's me and the kids. This means supper is likely to be some version of pancakes/waffles. Since I know I'm definitely not making the gym tonight, I'll be doing some challenges at my standing desk, and seeing what spells I can charge while I'm at it. :teatime:

Great book!

So far, i am just a listener, no recording equipment and not very tech savvy, but maybe someday i can volunteer. I have always loved reading aloud to my kids and now my grandkids.
You don't need to have any fancy set up, I record on my phone using an app and transfer through GoogleDrive (because I'm too cheap to pay the app to let me do it direct) to my PC to edit with Audacity.

If you get the time and/or inclination and think about starting up give me a shout and I can help where I can.

This weekend was a bit of a bust, I still kept my streak, but barely. I've been dealing with spiraling thoughts over the weekend. I'm making changes to try and take control of them. It's a matter of realizing there's nothing I can do to change certain facts, so I have to accept them and find my path to being ok on my own. Unfortunately, due to those bad thoughts and feelings, while I drove to the gym, I spent my time chilling in the car in the parking lot listening to music or my book rather than going in and exercizing. :blackout:

Friday

Hubby worked Friday night so there was no gym, my nose was still hurting pretty badly so I took it easy. In this case, I'm counting the 30 minutes of Biggie walking as my exercize because yeesh child... you're not yet 2 and a half and you're the same size as your sister. :tired:

Saturday

We had appointments first thing in the morning, so we loaded the kids and off we went. Munchie read her book in the car, Biggie sang us songs, they had a tailgate party breakfast and just chilled. I'm still so proud of how Munchie is working through this series, it's labelled as for 6-8 year olds and she's really enjoying it. She's finished the first two and is 8 chapters into book 3. :cantwait:

After our appointments we went home for a quick break, then Munchie went to Gramma's and Hubby went to work. They were off to visit Hubby's great aunt an hour away again on Sunday, this will be the last visit until Autumn as Great Aunt is off to Portugal for the summer. To make things easier whenever they do these visits, Munchie has a Gramma sleepover so that she's ready to go when Hubby picks them up.

This left Biggie and me with a weekend of together time ahead. I decided to take the opportunity to really work on the potty training and got him in big boy cotton underpants. He did great! No accidents! He also wouldn't pee until the diaper went on, no matter how many times I put him on the potty. He knows when he goes, and will head to the potty once his diaper is wet... we need him to no when he's ABOUT to go and get there BEFORE his diaper is wet.:verysadkitty:

It's a matter of patience and continuing to encourage him. Munchie wasn't decently potty trained until she was 32-33 months, so there he's a few months ahead at this point and I'm not worried. Hubby is really wanting to stop buying diapers, but it's something you can't force. :emergency:

After nap time, Biggie wanted to go for a walk, I hopped him into the stroller, planning to head to Tim's for a snack, but he quickly and imperially gave me directions to the park. Partway there he wanted out of the stroller, as I was unbuckling him we had a talk. He's started dashing, including running into the road once thinking it was a fun game. I told him no running, stay with Mommy by the stroller or he would be sat in the stroller. He did great! If he started to move away I'd tell him to get back to the stroller and he'd come and hold on. We went to the park and he spent most of his time on the swings. This is why if both kids come to the park I need a second adult. Biggie will spend all his time in the swings, while Munchie prefers to climb and slide on the creative. :handon:

It was pretty cold, so I convince Biggie to continue on and we walked through the school field behind the park. He decided to go the long way behind the school, and as we got close to the main road, I popped him back in the stroller so he could play with his treasures. Biggie loves nature things, on our walks we always end up with a collection of sticks, rocks, pinecones, and flowers. It's another reason I always bring the stroller. If not, we need a bucket, and you can bet I'd be the one carrying it. :ambush:

As we were walking around the school, I thought I heard what sounded like an animal in distress in the church parking lot next door, so I turned around and did a pass through that parking lot, though there was nothing there. I passed by a Bell technician working on one of the phone boxes on the road, as I turned the corner to go up our street, I noticed another Bell box that was opened and broken with cables laying about, so I took a couple pictures and went back to notify the technician. He stated he'd bag up the cables to protect them from the rain until he could call in a fix. :pmode:

Once we got back on our way after that, Biggie firmly stating he didn't want to go home yet, we did a bit more of a wander around the block from our house to collect our two cards for the walking app. I finally managed to get us home and in the house after a good couple of hours outside. I made up some supper for Biggie and waited for Hubby to come home from work. Bedtime was relatively quick due to Munchie being at Gramma's, then I went to the gym and sat in the parking lot. :scroll:

Sunday

We slept in till 8 due to Munchie not giving us our crack of dawn wakeup. Hubby headed out pretty quickly, swapping one of the carseats over to my cart. Biggie and I went to church and some of the people I saw there caused my mental spiral again. Not by anything they said or did, but just seeing them and how our relationships have changed sent my mind spinning. :onfire:

Biggie had a blast though, and we went grocery shopping after. He enjoys riding in the cart, which weirdly gets me a bit emotional. Due to Covid, Munchie never rode in a cart because we didn't take any chances, and now she's too big. We grabbed some of his favourite things and he chattered all the way to anyone who would listen that we had "Waffo's, bear paw, nanas!!" :sendlove:

We went home and he had lunch before Biggie going down for his nap. When he woke up, it was not a good time. I don't think he particularly wanted to be awake yet. He had a snack and food made everything better. :carbs:

Then as I was cleaning up, he came into the kitchen wearing his winter boots. I took his hinting and we went out for a toddler speed walk. We wandered pretty close to home, but he collected more nature stuff in his stroller, and was very excited that he spotted the moon during the day. At one point he'd been digging up rocks, looked up, couldn't find it and started to get upset. I explained that it was behind the clouds, and he regularly checked on it until it came out again. As we were finishing up our walk, I got a text that Hubby and Munchie were almost home, so we waited outside to see them. :celeb:

The evening was a bit of chaos, due to Munchie being back there was some aggressive behaviour and crazy interactions, but a quick bath time for Biggie and early bedtime with Munchie so we could read 2 chapters of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory got everyone settled. We finished up at 7:55 and I tried to get her to settle, but she called me on the fact that it wasn't yet 8. Apparently she had 55% energy and wasn't ready for bed yet. We chatted a bit, and at 8 she'd hit 50% and her energy bar was yellow so she could go to sleep... :chuckle:

Then I ran off to the gym and sat in the parking lot again.

Today I've already done more than the whole weekend combined by completing a few days of challenges. Tonight if there's time for gym I'm determined to actually do some working out. :tude:

I made it to the gym, I even spent some time IN the gym, but it was surprisingly busy and I had a bit of difficulty finding a spot to do my actual workouts. :sadness:

So I just stuck to a bit of a treadmill walk, and then some massage chair/book listening before heading home.:softz:

Today my nose is hurting quite a bit from getting kicked last week. I noticed it was flaring up a bit during bathtime last night. I'm just hoping this is it healing rather than getting worse. I'll probably take it easy, but I still want to do a bit at the gym. :sweetcheeks:

I'm starting to get worried about it, and depending on how things go tonight/tomorrow I may make a doctor's appointment. The swelling has gone down but the pain is on the bony part of my nose bridge, just a bit under my left eye, so I'm keeping tabs on it.
