I'm so frustrated and angry on your behalf. Like, I think any normal person can hear that and realize something isn't right. But you're right that healthcare in the US is not exactly kind to women. (And worse to women of color too.)

Thank you! They are always like, "everyone has cramps on their period" blah blah blah, and I'm like were you even listening to what I just said?? it's so much more than just bad cramps. I'm kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel for doctors down here. I've heard there are some really good and progressive and caring doctors closer to Atlanta so I may be making the trek here soon and hopefully I'll find one who has ears and critical thinking skills :P

I'm going to attempt to further gamify my thread. I'm not able to work out as much right now so I'm leaning heavily into the planning phase. I have had so many ideas and not the time to flesh them out so that's what I'm going to attempt to do here. It may be too much, and if I drop it suddenly, no judging ;P This is inspired by the awesomeness that is @Anpuankhses 's thread and World of Warcraft. My favorite things to do in WoW are rep grinds and leveling. I'll be using HP for streak maintenence, but I'm not sure exactly how yet.

So here's the thought: There are eight types of workouts on DareBee, which will serve as my reputations. They are: Strength, Cardio, Metcon, HIIT, Combat, Stretching, Yoga, Wellness.

For player level, I will be using XP systems inspired by the original vanilla version of the game (the best version, except of days where I prefer wrath of the lich king... but vanilla is my true home) which has a max level of 60. You start at level 1, and as you level up, you need more and more XP to reach the next level. The break down below:

PLAYER LEVELXP TO REACH NEXT LEVELXP for 1 mob at player level/mob kills to next levelPLAYER LEVELXP TO REACH NEXT LEVELXP for 1 mob at player level/mobs to next level

So, here is what I'll label as one mob: One Set From a Workout, One Day Of a Challenge

Finishing a 30 Day Challenge/30 Day Program will yield a bonus of 5 mobs worth of XP

Finishing a 60 Day Program will yield a bonus of 10 mobs worth of XP

Finishing a 90 Day Program will yield a bonus of 20 mobs worth of XP

I will gain reputation XP equal to the amount of regular XP for each faction. There are five levels to reputations which are as follows, with the amount of XP it takes to level to the next tier:

Neutral3000 XP
Friendly6000 XP
Honored12000 XP
Revered21000 XP
Exalted

So, here are my starting stats:

 HP: 100 %Items?? I'll figure out something for this if I make it to level 10 and still want to continue with this gamification :)

I'll also be adding emoji, fun colors, etc hopefully :) but that's what I have for now

@astro_lizard i didn't ask but there were not only men in the list of doctors you met? Mine is fine and if my actual contraceptive pill had not help she was proposing to remove the cause, but that is also because i was not whishing to have children any more, and i was already more than 40. So it is really frustrating even woman don't really understand your point. But with my actual pill, no more period no more pain (almost) (i have adenomyosis). crossing fingers for you to find a solution

Wow...
I'll read your post in more, and try to figure out how this system works.
How to gain XP, etc...
What is the point of gaining levels, what is mission, is it multiplayer, and so.
It's not really multi-player, just a way for me to motivate myself to do varied workouts and to gain XP and level my "character" aka, me. So each time i do a yoga workout I gain a little xp for my level and then also some reputation with the yoga faction. So after a few weeks I can look at my reputation level and see which type of workouts I do more often and which types I neglect. The amount of XP per level and for reputation is pulled directly from vanilla World of Warcraft

Currently it's a man but my last one was a woman and she was decent but is now over 3000 miles away in the state I moved away from. :( I miss her, she did seem to be trying to actually get to the root of the issue and help. Maybe I should move back there 🤔

@astro_lizard maybe you should open new thread in Playground about your idea of gamifying your exercise, I'm interested in it too.
But here, this mixing posting of women issues, politics, gaming, motherhood, healthcare, is kinda awkward.

:gotq:
Once I get it completely figured out I can post a copy on the playground if people want to use/copy it. I'm still in the planning phase and will be doing tweaks to how it works, so once I get it finished I can post that in the next few weeks :)

Streak Day 57

Still tweaking the leveling system. I think for HP, I will lose HP if I am not properly 'buffed' for the day which means I MUST do my stretching/warmups because if I don't, I could definitely hurt myself. I think I'll lose 20% of my health for missing warmup and will lose 10% of my health for missing cooldown/stretching at the end. If my health reaches 0, I lose a bunch of XP and reputation. Also still figuring out how to best use formatting/boxes to organize things how I like them. [link to xp/level breakdowns]

Ok, now I got it. I thought that you planned some rivals and missions, for reference and comparation.

Just close your eyes for the things you don't want to read :D
I didn't want or meant to criticize, especially in your place. I tried to be funny, you know me. Sorry!

Also, maybe in the future I will add some sort of challenges and fights with the leveling system but for now it's just leveling. I don't want to start off with too much and get overwhelmed. Maybe if I get to a high level I can start to add in some sort of combat/dungeon/raiding system but that will definitely be a future endeavor

Streak Day 58

Managed to dead hang for 60 seconds today despite all of the physical debuffs I'm experiencing!! That was such a surprise. when I started my hang for the day that wasn't even my intention. But, I felt really strong on the bar so I decided to just go for it. Which means I am officially progressing in the dead hang challenge again :) I'm hoping this means that I'm also almost back to 'normal' physically. If I wake up feeling good tomorrow, it'll be back to normal workouts with finally getting Pathfinder finished up. :D

Streak Day 59
Not feeling as good as I was hoping to feel today, but I felt well enough to continue on with Pathfinder the the Lowerbody & Core workouts.

I found a random item generator that someone made for blizz-like items. I think I might use it going forward! Each time I complete a main quest I think I'll roll for an item and see what I get. I'm not sure exactly how useful it will be, since I can't pick the armor type. In my head, I'm picturing myself as a Druid (my DareBee class) and they can only equip Cloth and Leather items. So, maybe I'll just roll until I find something I can equip. Hmm. I'll need to do some thinking on this. My other idea was actually leveling a Druid in tandem with this system and figure out how to display an image of them in my thread here somewhere. Hmmmmm. A lot of thinking and planning to be done...

Okay, I don't know how to make the image smaller. Need to work on this still, but there she is for now. She's a recreation of the very first character I made way back in 2005. I'm ditching the random item generator and also the inventory for the moment until I figure something else out.

Okay, I just replaced the pic. I figure she doesn't need a full pic right now since she's currently item-less

Also, no idea why some of the links are grey. I'm learning a lot about formatting and all of the capabilities of these threads...

Also, I'm feeling some conflicting thoughts about the druid.... she is near and dear to my heart and will always be my first character, but if I'm being honest, I usually play Male characters these last 10 or so years (something something something about an egg needing to crack.... iykyk...) and I usually lean towards Hunter or Warrior (or Mage, soley for PVP) these days... maybe eventually I'll have multiple characters and can choose which XP goes to who.... or maybe I'm just getting in over my head here. Hm. Lots of thinking and planning to be done. I do kind of like the idea of having a small party of 5 or so characters. But for now, I think it's best to stick to the one :P

For some reason I can't un-bold this text. In the UI, it doesn't even say that it is bolded. I'm going to stop trying to fix it and pretend that it doesn't bother me (it totally does though. I need to figure out how to use the threads better, this stuff is kind of finicky)

ANYWAY, formatting issues aside,
I get to claim my 60 day streak badge finally!!! I'll be doing Pathfinder later... I'm so sore from yesterdays. This means I'll need to do another warmup and cooldown, but hey, that's more XP I guess. I'll be back to finish up sometime later

(I know I said I was going to stop trying to fix the formatting issues.. but I couldn't leave it. I'm glad I was able to get it to work ^.^)

Also, the biggest reason that I need to hurry up and finish Pathfinder is so I can start Labyrinth with all the Bees!!! Any minute now I'll peel myself off the floor and get this next day of Pathfinder done... any minute now...

Streak Day 61
I'm back to full strength, I think, and my monthly debuff has finally faded.

Inevitably, I will add up my XP wrong, so I'm trying not to stress too bad about it. I managed to catch an error today before publishing, but I'm sure there will be errors down the line that I don't catch. I added an extra section to contain my totals for the entire day to make things just a little bit easier.

I may not be on as much over the next week, so some days may end up being combined. My partners mom will be visiting us for the next week-ish. I'll be maintaining my streak and my workouts, but I may not be as active on the forums. My three big MUST-DO's while she's here will be dead hang, pathfinder, and build and conquer. I'll keep up with those even if I have to go hide in the bathroom to get them done :D

edited to add: I'll be slightly changing the way I do reputations. In WoW, not every quest yields reputation, and I think moving forward I'll only add XP to the reps for the individual workouts and challenges (and plans) and not from programs. This will encourage me to seek out individual workouts to raise my reputations, as the programs seem to be adding XP to the reputations at a pretty rapid rate. In the game, reputations were a slow and steady grind and I am trying my best to match that same feeling over here with my workouts. I'm wanting to use the reputation system to encourage me to do the individual workouts, so for the moment this is what makes the most sense to me.

Just read over your xp/level up system and thought it was awesome! Seems like you put a lot of thought and effort into it! Great job! Hope it proves to be fun and motivating in your fitness journey!!! I look forward to seeing your progress!
Thank you!! I'm trying to switch my addiction from playing World of Warcraft to working out. So far it's doing wonders for my motivation :D

Ok updates are going to be very short until I get a free moment. Likely won't have a full XP update until after partners mom is done visiting next week.

Many foot and paw prints lay ahead of me. Many have entered the Labyrinth, but as far as I know, no one has yet exited. This does not disuade me, and I boldly step in, leaving one more set of lizard tracks for others to follow.
As soon as I step in the first room, the room illuminates with flame torches. I feel the heat of the torches hit my scaly skin, and it comforts me slightly. I feel a quake begin, and I steady myself, ready to face my first challenge.
I manage to stay upright, and head forward into the room directly in front of me.
The Echo Storm immediately humbles me and my hubris wears off. I will need to be careful and calculated to survive this maze. Centering myself, and concentrating on my breath, I am able to match my cadence finally to the storm. The way ahead of me opens, and I step forward.

Streak Day 68
Added up XP from previous days and will begin my quests for the day shortly and will edit as I go. I'm feeling pretty exhausted from all of the visiting. The mind wants to jump in and do a bunch of workouts but the body.... does not. On we go :)

I replaced my lovely World of Warcraft druid with a more applicable and adorable lizard. Every few levels, I'll find a new lizard. :D More and more badass looking, of course.

I don't know why I hate doing warmups but I really do. I decided to take the HP hit (which ended up translated to an IRL HP hit because ouch)
me, to me: DO YOUR WARMUPS. DO YOUR COOLDOWNS.

Pathfinder Wrap-Up:
Me and my two remaining party members can sense the safety ahead of us. Bob, Art, and I run with all of our strength and we make it. We make it! Finally, we can relax. Finally, we can properly mourn our fallen.

We remember and mourn Jenna, Lee, Jade, Mia, Luca, Ted, and Marjorie.

I immediately begin to work on crafting a time turner, so that I can go back in time and save everyone who I was unable to save. It may take me a few weeks to craft, but someday I will save everyone.

Pathfinder Review:
Wow, this was a very challenging program for me. I kept myself to pretty strict rules: For the days where party members lives were in jeopardy, I needed to do things in the alloted time frames. So, if I was only allowed 30 seconds of rest, that's what I needed to do to keep everyone alive. I know that I probably could have just taken longer rests and kept more alive, but I'm here for the challenge. I enjoy it when programs kick my a** like this because it motivates me to work even harder. Especially since I was being lax in how many days breaks I gave me, I figured I should at least be strict with rests and sets. Overall I found the program to be extremely enjoyable and motivating. I loved the way each new day could introduce high-stakes, even if I fell short on many of them. It has just motivated me to work even harder on building my strength and endurance. Eventually, I want to do this program and save everyone and do it exactly as written, no substitutions.

Moving forward, I want to set myself some more strict rules when it comes to programs and challenges. For me, 30 Day Challenges should be just that: challenges that I complete over a period of 30 days. Maybe I will give myself up to three-ish days where I can skip a day, but not consecutively. Same with Programs. They are created to be completed in a certain amount of days and are crafted with specific progression in mind, and so I want to complete them in the time frames given. Over the next week or so I will iron out this system and see how I will keep track of things, but I really want to step it up in how I complete challenges and programs. No more multi day breaks from them. In video games I always choose the most challenging option. Hardcore, Ironman, No-Death Runs, etc, and I want to translate that to my workout programs. I've built up the habit of working out, and now it's time to take it to the next level. I have some pretty significant goals, which I will also lay out here in the coming weeks. I want to run Ultramarathons, and I want to be (relatively) strong, and I am not going to get there by taking it easy :) My video game characters have had their time to shine in being the strongest, best geared, and overcoming the most intense challenges, and now it's time for my IRL character to go through the same trials and challenges so that I can reap the best rewards.

Congrats on completing Pathfinder+ and thanks for sharing your roleplay during the program and thoughts afterwards. I recently completed Pathfinder-without-plus and will want to do the plus version at some point. Maybe we'll end up in that world together in the future?

It is absolutely okay to ping me for Labyrinth news! Thanks for the ping and your comments on the map. I'll put you on the map once I've had the chance to draw lizard tracks. I've already got multiple browser tabs with image search results for "lizard track" and "lizard foot" open.
