@Laura Rainbow Dragon @Anek Thank you! :welcome:

More statistics. Previously I wrote 11740 words and did 720 Burpees. To my surprise those numbers went up. 15484 words this week; all in sessions that were less than 120 minutes total. Also, 870 Burpees, which chame in as a surprise since I feel like I did far much less Burpees this week than the last one.

Since I also cleared my TBR list, I only have three books in it. Two of them are already in my previous post.

I'm also noticing that writing 1500 daily can net me 126000 words in total after 12 weeks. The article that @Nevetharine posted from Writer's Digest got me thinking into how can I make something through short bursts of time. I mentioned writing is like HIIT before, so today, during a small powercut, I opened up Obsidian and added a new folder in my Microjournal vault; a folder that I'll use to write a novel through bursts of 10 minutes. The only way I could avoid that objective is if my phone says "low battery." That's it. I know I can churn a lot more words than I think, so this can be a long-term experiment, just to see where this thing leads me towards to. I won't be counting words, all I want is to write for ten minutes anywhere, whenever I get bored, or during a powercut, or if I just can't sleep and I decide to do the stupid mistake that is to look at a screen from bed, in spite of having blue-light glasses and my phone having a night mode. Obsidian's dark theme is easy in the eye though, but there have been times in which I fell asleep with phone in hand while I was reading a book. I hope this doesn't happen.

The challenge would be getting hooked though. ADHD makes me prone to that, so I'll have to fight my natural impulses of hyperfocusing.

I still can't believe that I managed to finish NaNoWriMo just 24 hours ago, right after I posted in this thread. It really doesn't feel like I just finished, and in fact, I am also doing new stuff. I wanted to write more today, but a few things took over, and by the end of the day I just didn't have any energy left in me to put attention into something.

Still, it's a win. Today I finished NaNoWriMo with 2584 words in 69 minutes during the Watch. Then I wrote 525 words in 22 minutes at the afternoon, something that allowed me to have a breath of fresh air, something new, and something that was just a piece of flash fiction that really got me excited. It could've taken less time, but I spend some time also writing down the thoughts that I had while I was writing. Not all of them; just the intrusive thoughts that really prevented me from writing. The inner critic thoughts.

Funny enough, just writing them down managed to stop them. Every sentence that my inner critic said, I wrote it down in a piece of paper, and that sentence stopped echoing in my head. It was as if I decided to leave the phone ringing and waited long enough for them to leave a message. That's it, message heard, and then I carried on. I'll keep doing this though, until I have collected enough thoughts. My goal is to discover what is it exactly that is preventing me from doing stuff, and attack it directly. In other words, I'm turning my inner critic into a Rogues Gallery, similar to what Struthless did by turning his into trading cards:

So yeah, that was today. I took a break, even though I kept writing. Then again, this writing was mostly for fun, but I put it there. I also opened up a new document in my Obsidian vault where I keep my Microjournal, as I mentioned previously. In it, I'll start writing a novel in short bursts of time; 10 minutes. Why on my phone? Because that way I can write anywhere. It's 10 minutes anyway. I'll just see where that takes me.

I did put out around 350 words on my 5-minute rant when I got angry in just five minutes. I estimate that I'll get 500 words in those 10 minutes because it'll also be in my native tongue. If I do six 10-minute sessions in a day, that can get easily towards to 3000 words. Multiply that for seven days, and you'll get 21000 words. Multiply that by 4 weeks and you'll get 84000 words. I can see how it accumulates, and I can do six 10-minute sessions in a day, except on days where I game. In powercut days, I can exploit this perfectly.

Then again, my goal is not exactly to go for that crazyness. I just want to use those 10 minutes to write whatever nonsense happens to go by my head as I explore the life of said character, because that's what I put on the rules: it'll be character driven. It's the fifth rule. The other ones, in order, are writing only through 10-minute sessions, everything on the phone, no planning, and the only excuse for not writing is low battery.

What the hell happened today. That's how I can sum up my day because I frankly have no idea. There's not Watch tonight, alright? That's gone. It took a hike today. I mean, during last night's Watch, right before I was about to enter the Dead Sleep, the water came. At 2 AM the water came. So I had to sleep in late. Again!

To top it all off, there was a powercut that, while I wasn't bored during it, it's still a powercut, and that's just something that I hate. Naturally, since it is a powercut! I also skipped the Burpees because Cardio & Abs carried the Burpees, so all the Basic Burpees that I've done today were for the Turkey Run, which I am not doing them as often as I should because... I don't know.

So please, tell me, how the f*ck I ended up with a total word count of 3431 words in a total of 90 minutes?! Where did I get the time and the wordcount for doing that? What the hell happened? And why did my count for Burpees is 250? Ok, honestly, I understand the Burpees, but when did I push out nearly 3.5K? And how did I manage to do that in 90 minutes?

Well, for starters, I started doing a project on my phone. It's the one I mentioned. No rules except those five. Writing straight forward, no editing, no plotting, no nothing, it's just picking up a crayon and drawing whatever on a piece of paper, like a child does. I only did 10 minutes of it today; one session at the library in the middle of the powercut, and I pushed 253 words; 25.3 words per minute. That sounds low, but then again, I'm using my phone, and I'm not dexterous with it, unless we're talking about plugging in a keyboard on it! So yeah. I also did two things during my Watch: NaNo, and the second part of something that is actually a fanfic, the work that I've done yesterday. Yes, it's the first time in my life I'm doing fanfiction, and I'm doing it because I just saw a couple of fanarts and I was like "yo... these two need a story!" so it ended up like this. This is the exercise in which I also fished for all the intrusive thoughts from my inner critic and wrote them down aside. And then I started experimenting with the writing I did for NaNo by writing it again from a different perspective. I'm adding words to it, yes, and that's the point of these last days: to add words of it, even if they'll be deleted, or are meaningless, I'm just experimenting. In fact, I came up with a brand new character, and a dynamic that can be conflictive for the plot. Two characters, indeed, and I also broadened the main character, so she is far much more than what she was.

Branching out of the Bottle Episode sure gave me some opportunities, but I'll still study if keeping the Bottle Episode is a good thing or not, and it is very likely it won't be a good thing, but hey, there's only winning and learning, and learning how to do Bottle Episodes stack up. In fact, writing the entire NaNo, the fanfic, and the project on my phone also stacks up. Everything that I do, whether it is professionally or for fun will stack up to my writing, so why should I listen to my inner critic too much?

None of today was planned. Not a single thing. I didn't plan my writing sessions, and ADHD drove me today. Somehow, I succeded.

Again, what the hell happened?!

Dear Santa:

It's been a rough year, but I managed to survive! Whether I've been a good girl or bad girl, it is up to you, since all I've been doing is do what I can only do under these circumstances: to fight. If you get me Burpees and combat movements this year, then I'll be grateful for that challenge. After all, I've been at huge lows due to a very underestimulating environment, and movement gets me going. ADHD has been both an ally and a rival for me, but I hope I can have it more as an ally in my current fight against my inner critics and perfectionism, always something that not only has kept me back, but always prevented me to try to do new stuff.

So yeah, I hope whatever gift you have for me (or coal, because I can always have uses for coal; that's how resourceful I am!) is something that just stimulates me, and boosts my endorphines to just kick ass and chew bubblegum, even when I'm all out of gum! I don't have equipment far beyond a pair of dumbbells fashioned out of bottles and a bunch of coins, but who needs those in a combat situation?

Although, to be fair, they could be good weapons...

Hope you find this with a hug,

Sólveig

Brilliant: another powercut at the same time as Monday. Let's just say that my entire day was gone because of it. I barely managed to keep experimenting on NaNo and realized that I did better than the previous writing, which I know believe that it's true: writing is cumulative. It doesn't matter what it is, but it gets better.

Not much today. Serious Burpees, and carried on with the phone project too. Just one session again though. I did have some fun at doing maths and figuring out how much do I need to do in a week and daily to get to 85K or 50K. Turns out it's impossible for me to punch out those numbers, or at least that's what I think. I know I can do 6K in a day regardless of language, and it's easier in Spanish.

Honestly, I like writing in both languages, so it's hard to pick one.

Plans have changed, but I am at 250 Burpees and at 109% progress. That's a win.

Took a day off yesterday. I was very tired, and I didn't hear the alarm for the Watch. Plus, it was really hot, and it just so happened that it started to rain really bad in the middle of the night. No Burpees, sadly, but at least I got some things in order in this chaotic head of mine.

The day was a bit occupied, so thankfully I did a Watch in which I carried on with my NaNo, and I also continued with NaNo at the end of the day. I didn't do anything on my phone though. Besides, my time was taken away. Not even Cardio & Abs, so now I'm in debt... again... 3033 words in 92 minutes is cool and all, but I just hate days in which I have no time due to things out of my control.

Today is also one of them.

Horrible day. I had no control of anything, so I just winged 538 words out of an emergency because I didn't want to leave the day entirely blank. I don't even know what the hell did I just wrote, but I did it. I do, however, feel like I must put my weekend in order.

Aside from this... I don't really have much to say. I did not have any time under my control today, and I was completely understimulated, so I became an easy target for algorithms and htings. Just a bad day. At least I did 150 Burpees, but again, I could not do 50 in the morning.

To be completely honest, I can do better. I was just tired yesterday.

Indeed I was. Not only I wrote better today, but I punched out more words than just those 500 words. It's still less than 1500 words, but this was more due to a lack of time rather than being tired. Still, in that little time that I wrote for NaNo (a total of 40 minutes) I pretty much did 5 out of my 6 pages daily, and I honestly had some doubts. These doubts however were things that I thought about when I considered the plot as a whole.

Let's just say that, in tonight's watch, I'll finish NaNoWriMo with one last experiment, which is writing a scene for it in Spanish and see how I perform. Then, I'll call it off, and actually start with the dismantling of the manuscript during the day, because I have many, oh SO MANY thoughts about how the plot should be. Starting with taking a lesson from chivalric romances first, and is not just about using the episodic approach, but maybe keeping the episodes as short as possible. I don't recall how many chapters does Amadis of Gaul has, but I do recall that it was four books, and the first one was the longest. Because this story is divided in three parts I figured I should call each part a book, just for the codename, and start rewriting everything in an episodic manner. I think I have four to six plots going over in my main character; some of which are not really important, but one of them is the core at it, and everything is balanced on top of it, and the inciting incident that is the main plot of the story is the one thing that throws things out of balance.

I might need to pick a sheet of paper and start putting things on a scale.

So.. was 1210 words all I wrote? For NaNo, yes. For my phone project, I actually did two sessions; one of which was before the First Sleep. This netted me a total of 592 words in 20 minutes. Yes, I increased my speed on my phone.

I also decided that, since I'm reading a TTRPG manual, I should actually read 5e's Core Rulebooks from front to back instead of skimming through them and finding rules whenever I need them and picking them up. I started with the Player's Handbook, and found already two rules that help out with rulings; one of them I already knew but didn't know it was on the book, an actual example on how character's ability scores actually create an accurate description and provide guidelines to roleplay the character, the fact that weapons with the Thrown propierty can use STR instead of DEX as a modifier for attack rolls and damage rolls, just like weapons with the Finesse propierty can use DEX as a modifier instead of STR (I did know about Finesse, but I thought Thrown meant that any thrown weapon always used DEX, not that it can be either DEX or STR), increasing the CON modifier by leveling up changes the HP (I knew that) and the easy way to find out how much it increases is by adding your current level to the HP max (I did not know that!), and that the Tiers of Play are also in the handbook, though a bit skimmed over. They are more detailed in the Dungeon Master's Guide; that's something that I've always read.

Currently going through Races. I know they can be reflavored; I've read that in the Dungeon Master's Guide, but I've never read the full lore on the races because, well, it's a hombrew world! Still, I might uncover stuff that I did not know if I already found out about all of that.

Burpees were from Cardio & Abs; a total of 200. Also, I finished Cardio & Abs today. I did it one day earlier because I got sick of the program.

I took the day off yesterday, so there will be a lot of Xs on my list. It was for health reasons, actually. I didn't write at all, except for 37 minutes during the Watch, and I didn't manage to get to 1K because I was tired, and very prone to distraction. If I'm being honest, I wasn't feeling right. I was completely tired of NaNo, but I did write 879 words in my native language. Suffice to say is that I actually felt more comfortable writing in Spanish than in Engli sh, but it felt a bit weird. I don't know if that's because I already did most of the work in English, but still... I'll probably leave that in English instead. It was just a minor experiment.

Still, I took the day off. Nasty headache that I had all day. It didn't stop me from walking, but it was a horrible headache, like, I couldn't even think. Even a two hour long nap didn't fix it. I managed to finish 10000 Punches. I'll claim the badge once I get through the notifications.

So yeah, not much to talk about my day. I just rested because my body demanded it. I'm still carrying a bit of that headache. I'll let you know about my stats for this week in a bit. I'm not only going through my notifications, but also finish journaling and do some admin stuff, and then do my plans for the day because... well, due to that headache I woke up very late, and pretty much immediately went to my friends' because it was D&D day, and it was a ton of fun.

6 Days of Burpees, 1040 Burpees done this week. The increase was actually thanks to Turkey Run. While I didn't do much because, I'll be honest with you, I was so hyperfocused with NaNo that I just couldn't be entertained with the event. Every single day NaNo was always at the top of my head, and I didn't mind. I could've done more, that is for certain, but I like what I did. Not too much, but enough to get to 1040 in a week. That's just short of 10 Burpees for the 150 Burpees daily for 7 days.

7 Days of Writing, 14489 words written. All of which in days where I wrote for 120 minutes or less. That's 1000 words less than last week, but that is not a huge decrease. In fact, I'm blaming it on the headache that I got yesterday. I couldn't do anything, not even journal! In fact, I just checked my BuJo as I am planning for the next week, and immediately scratched off that day, writing it big, with my black pen, "Headache. Day off."

Still, it was a good week. Not only I got to 60K on NaNoWriMo, ending it with a nice amount, but it also provided me a nice day off to just rest, and chill. My inner critic is like "you shouldn't have taken that day off," even though I also took today off because, well, D&D. I'll tell more about it in my log, but I'm shushing my inner critic because I was f*cking sick! It was nasty headache, right behind my eyes. It got to the point in which I couldn't even look at the natural light, thus I took a nap and woke up to take my walk almost after the sun finally set. The headache was still there, but it was minor, hence there was no Watch, and no posting. And I really needed those days off; my brain is thanking me for it.

Hard to be kind to myself, but it's a matter of taking more power over those nasty voices inside your head that tell you that you must be working whenever you're relaxing, even if you need the relaxation, whether it is due to stress, or actual sickness.

As I previously mentioned, D&D day. It was really fun; way too much social interaction, but the hilarity went up and it never got down. Our GM had the funny idea of a crossover between our misfit teens urban fantasy party with their homologues from the medieval fantasy campaign, and it went nuts. Honestly, I'm really surprised how my urban fantasy character is a thousand times more unhinged than her medieval fantasy counterpart, but that's partially because the one from medieval fantasy actually has a purpose, but this one does not. Nevertheless, is proving to be more useful than I thought. Artificers have a lot of things, even at first level (we're on 3rd level), but after knowing the features well enough, it actually does have a lot of cool features. Plus, I love to flavor that the Faerie Fire that I casted was actually the liquid from inside glowsticks. Context: I went Alchemist.

The session was about to become yet another Project X, like our first session with them was. If it wasn't because our medieval fantasy characters did not know how to drive a truck, it would've ended up as such. Still, they got into playing videogames, and when they tried Skyrim... Let's just say the familiarity for them was uncanny.

Gosh, this was so much fun. I ended up meeting an NPC and now I'm nicknaming her all poisons and radiocative materials I could think of because she is a parody of the toxic goth girlfriend cliche. The best one was calling her 'little belladonna,' it actually ended up being quite cute and poetic, but other stuff I went for 'little poison,' 'little arsenic,' 'little cyanide,' 'little uranium,' 'little plutonium,' 'little elephant's foot,' 'little corium,' 'little sarcophagus,' 'radioactive,' 'little mercury,' 'little Geiger,' '3.6 Roentgen,' and I guess that was it. If she keeps appearing, or if the DM prompts me her a lot, I am going to come up with more creative nicknames that refer to toxic, poisonous, and/or radioactive materials. Honestly, I've never been this creative with nicknames before, and while yes, I stole this from the soap opera I'm watching (one of the male characters is someone who is always nicknaming the women he dates because he is the actual idiot who doesn't care to remember their names, thus started to name one 'little poison' after she rejected him like a million times, each rejection more humiliating than the other) but took it to an entirely new level that is forcing me to come up with stuff. I mean, my character is an Alchemist on an Urban Fantasy campaign; she HAS to know the entire periodic table if Faerie Fire was flavored as throwing a glowstick at a Shadow Dragon.

Yes. We fought a Shadow Dragon at the end. Had it not been for Faerie Fire, the story would be different now.

No writing today, which is okay. Honestly, I needed the day off. This was so much fun, I think I'm loving this character more than my Cleric, mostly because if my Cleric was completely unhinged, the unhinged factor on this one is turned up to eleven. The fact that they are together only makes things even more chaotic. AND NONE OF WHAT HAPPENED TODAY WAS HER FAULT!*

*It's a running joke. The first session with them had her using an ouija board and causing an entire disaster. Since then, I always tell, as a joke, that everything; that all things that happened after that are all her fault, because she was the one who brought up an ouija board in the first place!

It got busy! The waking up late, the powercut, the fact that I read so much from the book that I'm still keeping unmentioned... then there's the workout, the need for an errand at night...

Today is just like that too, but let's focus on yesterday. I even skipped the Watch, and overslept again. I didn't write at all because I didn't have enough time, but at least I set something on stone: a title, a character name, and a place to start with. Yeah, this is the anthology I'll be working on while I leave NaNo in the oven cooking, and have my mind relax for a bit. Aside from this, I've been having lots and lots of thoughts about the things that I want for the next year, and what the reality might be once January 10th hits. Everything feels foggy. I try to ignore that date and just pretend that everything is going to be the same, but the justified anxiety is there...

Whatever the case is, my plans are the same. For now, all I'll do is just chill, focus on the books, and read. I... "didn't" do Burpees. I actually did Burpees, but I just didn't do them in a single session. I just did three sets of 50 throughout the night. Like I said, I did not have time at all. It was a rollercoaster of a day, and today doesn't seem to be better.

A page is still a page worth of progress..

I knew that today was also going to be busy. Nevertheless, I managed to write for 10 minutes before sleep, while I was in bed, and got 248 words. I'm counting it as 250 to compensate the fact that I did write yesterday, but I didn't add new words. I guess only two words count?

I did more plans for today, but now I feel ready to act. Sure, it's an hour past midnight, but that's on me; I heard the alarm, and just slept another hour. I have less time during the Watch, but I don't really care. As long as I can do something, I'm fine.

I did not wake up at midnight. I slept through. I didn't hear the alarm. Again.

Not much in the department of writing. Not much in the department of Burpees either. Just 100, including the Before Breakfast Burpees, which is turning more into Before Lunch Burpees. I tried to do 150 not in a single workout, but I don't know. Time just vanished yesterday. I mean, that's exactly what it happened: time vanished. There was a powercut that I was expecting for it to be early, but nope, it happened really late, and I didn't do anything.

Then again, it was a success for reading! And journaling too. I pretty much organized my entire year into a very rough map, one that needs a bit more of information. I'm not really sure if I set up too many goals for this week, or if I'm setting too many things in my to-do lists, but I am not doing well. I hope to change that today, tomorrow, and on the weekend because, next week, it's rewriting time!

I can't believe I'm excited about it.

I tried to write today, but either words didn't come out, or fate wanted me to take this week completely off.

I did manage to get 250 words on my phone project, but that's it. The good part of writing this slow on it is that I'm always excited to see how the thing develops, but the bad part is that I get engrossed into writing, and today was one of those days in which I just didn't want to stop... but I made the commitment to do it.

No Watch today either. I stayed up. The water came really late, so I'm staying up tonight. Let's hope I get to do something tonight because tomorrow will be a busy afternoon.

Not much to say about today. Just a dementia issue that took some of our time, but that was it. Either time is running faster, or my time blindness is becoming an actual issue.

Speaking about the devil, I cheated my brain today. I planned to do no Burpees in a single workout, and ended up doing them in a single workout. I'm also thinking about writing on WordPerfect again now that I actually decided to configurate DOSBox and fix the keyboard layout to be the same of my OS. You have no idea how good it feels to have a Spanish keyboard instead of an English one in DOSBox.

As I stated previously there was No Watch. Still, it got me into writing 1222 words yesterday, at midnight. It was good. It was interesting. I did an interesting experiment and finally learned about my character. Now I feel ready to write a bunch of stories, and while I have a recurring idea for one, I haven't written for the rest of the day.

Yeah, Friday was horrible. I did not have time for anything whatsoever, and I just defaulted into the content hole instead of actually doing something. Honestly, I procrastinated because perfectionism took over the wheels. I keep telling myself that, aside from writing for profession, I must write for myself, you know, to have fun. Not only doing it as a hobby makes it so that I can break all rules, and keep reminding myself how much I love the process, but it also stacks up. I can churn out bad stuff after bad stuff; self-indulgent stuff after self-indulgent stuff, and it just makes me better. It's pretty much doing Burpees, but in the written word. The more I keep performing them, the better I get. The problem is that my perfectionism is so loud that it robs me of that joy. So why should I write for myself if I am going to do it bad? Why should I even bother to write what's important if it's going to be bad anyways?

That's one loud beast. Yes, I did lack time, but I had opportunities to fill that time in, and instead, I shifted to the content hole because... why write if it's going to be bad?

Man, I hate perfectionism so much. Don't get me wrong, it can be helpful because it drives you to do stuff good, but sometimes it just cripples you. Still, with DOSBox configured the way it is now, I have some opportunities to shift gears from Ghostwriter to WordPerfect whenever I can. In fact, I'm thinking about using WordPerfect to play D&D solo, and keep my adventure log in it. For character sheets and information about the world that I uncover, and that kind of stuff that is not about the progress of the story, I can just go analog.

But yeah, it was perfectionism that got me on Friday. Nevertheless, it was good. I gave my last journaling workshop of the year, so that's one less thing to worry about until January.

The cost was also not working out on Friday. At least not in the sense that I hoped for.

Hi @Sólveig !

Santa would like to know if you have access to a pull-up bar (or any other fitness equipment you like to use).

I don't. I actually mentioned in my letter to Santa I only have a pair of dumbbells fashioned out of bottles and a bunch of coins. Each one weighs one kilogram.

I don't have equipment far beyond a pair of dumbbells fashioned out of bottles and a bunch of coins, but who needs those in a combat situation?

Although, to be fair, they could be good weapons...

Maybe Santa read it too close to bed? I don't take offense; sometimes I have to read a few paragraphs three times because I missed a critical line of context.

It was my bad, @Sólveig . I knew you had written a letter. But then I read all the letters and didn't remember what was in most of them.

It's fine. Like I said I don't take offense. I also miss details, so I get it when you're overwhelmed with plenty of them!

Now I was supposed to wake up at midnight. To my surprise, it was 8 AM when I woke up. Why did the alarm didn't sound? Probably because I slept on top of my phone! I seriously need an actual alarm clock and not my phone, honestly. I'm also actually looking to buy a pocket notebook and turn it into a phone book because I really hate to unlock my phone and look for a number. Even though anyone can do it in seconds, I feel I'm wasting too much time by unlocking the phone, tapping on contacts, waiting for the contacts to load up (which, let's be honest, it doesn't take much time, but since everyone, including gravity is on a rush nowdays...), and then scrolling or just searching by typing the name... it's just annoying. It's even worse when I have to write down a number. Everyone just tells me their number straight away, and I haven't even gotten my phone completely out of my pocket.

Tangent aside, no writing today, or at least not in the sense of actual writing for progress. I did a journaling exercise, and finally took the notes I was supposed to take to mark progress. The journaling was just an inversion of the rough year that I had, and wrote everything in it that was my fault, wrote all my wrongs, mistakes, and everything. As an inversion exercise, it was rough. The best thing about it was that I actually wrote down some ridiculous claims that my perfectionism has said. A small fragment I would share is how I said that writing for pleasure is meaningless, and that every single writer has all of their works published, and all of them were perfect on the spot. I called out a myth upon the fact that Stephen King tossed Carrie manuscript on the trash first before his wife Tabitha got it out, that Kafka never meant to have his works published but instead burned, that Tolkien wrote the Silmarillion for fun to just create stuff for Middle Earth, with that book never meaning to be published, that fanfics are only for teenage girls obsessed with toxic male models and works like The Divine Comedy and Paradise Lost, both showing actual fanfic cliches, were never fanfics at all... Every single ridiculous and untrue claim that my perfectionism said, I wrote it down.

It hurt. It really hurt. I actually ended the entry by shaming myself, but I put a last paragraph on a different tone and told myself that I just wrote down the solution, so I must read it again. Being truthful to myself, most of the stuff that happened this year was actually me problems. I'm glad that I did that, and I kept reading The 12 Week Year. Someone on GR said that you should not read this book because everything is already said in the cover, and that's... partially true. Like, yes, the cover and the prologue spoil the method completely, but there's some techniques in it that I didn't expect to see. It is the first book that I see that says that everyone should have a Vision Manifesto; a Personal Vision Manifesto actually. That's nowhere in the cover or the prologue, and the author goes their way to argue why the Personal Vision is important and must come first before any other Vision Manifesto, including the Business Manifesto. That was unexpected. I am actually interested in writing a few Manifestos myself to start acting in th changes that I want in my life, and I'll get onto those this month. Values, Rules, Mission, and Vision. Mission and Vision can be combined though; the definition between the two can get blurry, but Values come first.

Light workout day too. I only did 60 Burpees. No writing, or at least nothing beyond the 220 words that I wrote for 10 minutes while I was in the bathroom. That was an interesting experience, considering the genre that I write. You'd think I'd be doing something else, but no, I was just writing while sitting on the throne.

  • Writing: 6 days, 2549 words
  • Burpees: 5 days, 720 Burpees

Interesting. I was actually expecting far less Burpees, but that's a good amount considering the days. As for writing, I find it interesting how I managed to put out my golden daily output in a week of "absolute" rest. I'm putting that on quotes because this break was mostly due to NaNo, and while I expected to write a whole more than that, I still kept writing.

I got interested in see if I can write a short story by writing it 10 minutes daily. I'm putting that as a challenge for this week and see where does that leads to. Who knows? It might be a way to output short stories for a while. I am, after all, writing a book on my phone. While it isn't a daily basis, it is short writing sessions of 10 minutes. I always end up outputting between 200 and 300 words in those 10 minutes, which is good progress, really.

I don't feel bad about having a lower output this week. I mean, I made progress nowhere, that's for certain, but I still wrote, even if I didn't have an actual focus whatsoever.

I wrote down six goals for the week, but they don't seem overwhelming. In fact, one of those I can slash in a day or two days. I think I can do it tomorrow, or between tomorrow and Tuesday.

Took the day off. It was supposedly to be D&D day, but instead I spent time with friends rather than play D&D. We were missing one player, and I didn't want to stay home. I couldn't prepare something in time because our GM cancelled at the last minute.

I did wake up for the Watch, but I didn't write a thing. I only did Burpees Before Breakfast, and actually did those before breakfast. Most of my day was doing chores, journaling, and walking. I didn't have time to do Fit December, so I spent another Hall Pass. That doesn't mean that I didn't write. On the contrary, I did write. It was thanks to being with my friends that I started the experiment to see if I can do something in a week by writing 10 minutes daily, and I think I can. I started the experiment on the computer, in DOSBox, and got 357 words in it. If my keyboard didn't have the E key being troublesome, maybe it would've been more words, plus it was in English and not Spanish, but 357 is more than in my phone. Not only that, but if I keep that rhythm, I can do easily 10 pages in a week, just by writing 10 minutes a day. I mean, I can even make the story shorter, start another one, and do two instead.

Honestly, writing in very short bursts of time just motivates me. The inner critic is nearly silent in that short amount of time, and I can just churn out words to make a crappy draft. Crappy drafts are better than no drafts anyway.
