I'm an idiot! The whole time I was looking for workouts to help with my back pain, I didn't think to look in the programs. I found the Back & Core program. I'll probably start it Monday, since my sister comes over late on Sundays. Between grocery shopping and making/eating dinner, after I'm done with the chores and other things I need to do, I'm usually left with little time to even do yoga. And this Sunday we have to make an extra shopping trip, anyway, so that cuts into the time even more. But I'm happy I found it!

Dad got a full release from his doctor, but his work is not letting him go back. He had to go to another doctor and do tests that even I couldn't do without wobbling. He showed us what he did and he did pretty well. He had me so it and I wobbled. Dad told his physical therapist about it, and he said they had him do things opposite of the way you're supposed to. The physical therapist said he couldn't do those things without wobbling, either.

I don't know if it's because I'm so tired, but I could only do one set of Back & Core's exercises today. I struggled even doing what I did. I have plans of doing this program pretty regularly, so I'm not too concerned with not being able to do it exactly as it is. Especially since I have to modify exercises to begin with. I'm not strong at normal side planks at all, let alone the star ones.

Both can be done from the knee, as necessary.

Skipped too many days and decided to restart. The holidays were rough.

On Saturday, my ankle gave me problems three separate times.

I was going to start 30 Days of Cardio Light instead of restarting Vitality, but I wasn't feeling too well.

My brother is looking into DDP Yoga. He's been saying he was going to get this forever, but he never has. That's all he talked about today. He said, "I didn't know yoga* could help you lose weight! I thought you had to work out, not exercise." Dude...

*My dad calls it "yogurt" and my brother has been calling it "yoger".

Day 4 of Back & Core is still hard :hehehe: but it's fine.

I guess my resolution this year is to be more mindful with my exercises (and with my body in general). While taking the sheets off my bed to be washed, my back started hurting again. And for whatever reason it dawned on me that it's usually on the left side. Sometimes the pain is all the way across, but I think most of my problem is from my left. I usually carry Rolo on my left. And I think when my hip was hurting pretty badly, it was on my left.

Another thing I need to work on? Taking yoga practice off the mat. Also bringing it with me for my other exercises. When I'm doing yoga, my mindset it completely different. If I can't do something, it's "I can't do it yet." Any other exercise I do? I don't say yet.

I'm trying to rotate through the hand and foot workouts, but some days I forget. I remembered today.

During the front leg hold on my left leg, I felt a tug that was not present on my right.

I'm actually feeling my core now. Before, when I would do workouts like punches, I could never actually feel my core when I do them. Granted, I did have trouble remembering to engage my core before, but still.

I went to use my scale this morning, and the number kept dropping. Tried again and same thing. I couldn't get it to work right.

My knee has been bothering me and stiffening up because of the cold weather. The stretches this morning really seemed to help a lot.

*I added toe touches after the forward fold both times, and for the nighttime session I swapped the fourth one for a yogi squat.

Broncos and chiefs game... Honestly, I am not a sports person, and I don't really care, but growing up with a Broncos fanatic father, our household roots for the Broncos by default. My cousin and her family are chiefs fans. They usually text my dad and brother (the two fanatics) whenever chiefs win. Mom said when they went over there on Christmas, they started in right away. So Broncos win (and I'm honestly so tired of the chiefs anyway that whoever plays against them, I'm rooting for) and my brother text my cousin. "Are you serious right now?" And something about the starters. So they're the sports fans who can hate on everyone else's team, but lord forbid someone say something about their own. I hate this attitude about sports.

Only morning stretches. We had a busy morning. I got a new scale, but it took forever shopping. It was 11 by the time we got back to the house. I still had to do laundry, and by mid-afternoon, I wasn't feeling well.

My workouts have been very sporadic. It's been hectic here.

Our washer had been going out for a while now. We've had to keep restarting the darn thing. We'd been dragging our feet about getting a new one. Finally, the day after Christmas, mom remembered that my sister and her family had gotten a new washer/dryer and her old ones were still working. So we got her washer. That worked fine. Then our dryer decided to go out. Friday, when I washed my mom's comforter, it came out completely soaked. So bad that I couldn't pull it out of the washer by myself. I stupidly put it in the dryer. Our dryer had been making noises lately, but it started worsening after I put the comforter in the dryer. And it didn't dry after like 2 or 3 cycles. We ended up getting my sister's old dryer, but my dad and brother couldn't get it hooked up. So we finally bought a new set. RIP to our over 10-year-old beautiful red washer and dryer. Our new set was delivered Tuesday.

I forgot to take my pills Monday night. I remembered at midnight, after tossing and turning for a while. The problem? I'd started keeping my pills in my mom's room for convenience (we fill up our pills at the same time, so instead of my constantly carrying my pill container back and forth, I just leave it since I watch TV with my mom in her room anyway). And our newest puppy (at this point I think she is actually a chupacabra or something because she is a little demon) and she hears absolutely everything. I wouldn't be able to sneak in without waking them up. So I was dead tired on Tuesday and completely out of it, but thankfully no migraines.

My sister bought one of those smart hula hoops a while back and she said she couldn't figure it out. I asked her recently if she could bring it over so I could try it out. She did on Sunday and I tried it out Monday. I can only get it to go for a while. Tuesday and Wednesday I was too tired/too busy to try again. Otherwise I'd been stretching.

♡ Yoga with Adriene Morning Mobility Yoga

So since it's been a little while since I've exercised, what with the washer/dryer situation and something circling around trying to get us sick*, I'm doing a little bit of a reset for a few days. I figured I'd do some nice hip-opening/deep stretch yoga sessions these next few days and start fresh Monday. I've been really feeling the tightness in my hip and back this last week.
*The dilemma that I've been facing constantly these last few months. I need to exercise and stretch, but when I'm starting to feel sick, I never know if a simple, easy yoga or stretching session will be too much. I've done some before when I'm not feeling that bad but I can tell it's trying to stick, and the next day I'm feeling even sicker and weaker than before.

Yesterday's yoga session left my abs and obliques sore. Today's session was a lot harder than it needed to be. My watch said it was 11 minutes in the aerobic zone and 3 in the anaerobic. I definitely felt it.

Whatever has been going around finally fully hit me last Friday. I've pretty much been down since then. Trying to rest as much as possible, but I still have a 30-pound pug to tend to. And everyone in my house is sick as well. It's been fun!

Adriene recommended doing this video regularly. I planned to try once a week, so long as life doesn't get in the way. But.. life got in the way.

Whatever illness we've had (severe cold? Flu?) kept us down for 3 weeks, plus we had ice/snowstorms. Kind of exhausted since then.

My back told me today it was time to get back into exercising. I can't promise myself daily exercise (storm season is almost here and my anxiety goes through the roof). I'm trying to take advantage of the sunny no-worry days we're having right now.

Well, I haven't been the best at keeping active...

My pug is disabled, our bedtime routine now is changing his diaper (with help from my mom because it is not a one person job) and carrying him upstairs. Usually my little chihuahua follows us up, but sometimes he is just done by bedtime, so I'll carry him up at the same time. I have a baby gate in my door to allow the cats to come in and out of our room and keep the others dogs out. This time I carried up my two fur babies, and my foot got caught of the baby gate. My instinct was to turn towards my bed and try to lift both dogs up there so I don't squish them. I got them up there, but I hit the edge of my bed. Got an awesome bruise and a really sore rib.

Then I got a wonderful case of cellulitis in my elbow. Which was fun. It came up suddenly on a Thursday, and the following Friday morning I made a trip to the doctor to get it taken care of. I'm all healed now!

My dad has taken up walking again, so I've been doing that with him. I'm trying to ease back into exercise as well because my back is starting to hurt again. It's not super bad yet, but I can feel where it's heading. I'm trying to get my mom to start stretching and exercising with me to see if it can help her with her pain, but so far it hasn't happened yet.

Had to take dad for a walk today. We got halfway through our route when we happened upon a cute, fluffy Australian Shepherd puppy. Puppy decided to walk with us. I've got Fonzie in one hand, and I'm trying to tell the puppy they need to go back home, but it wasn't listening to me. So I focused on getting through our walk and getting my dad back home and keeping the puppy safe, figuring I could try to figure out where the puppy came from when I was able to put Fonzie inside. I wasn't even sure if the house we found the puppy at was their house. The puppy went up to every person we saw along the way, and was going up and checking out houses before following us again. My dad is cussing the entire time and calling the puppy stupid. When we were almost home, we found a family outside a couple of houses down from us. The puppy ran over to them and was loving all the attention they were getting. We explained the situation and ultimately left the puppy with them. My dad had to leave to meet my cousins a few minutes after we got home, and the puppy was still with the family, but he said someone had been walking down our street so he thought maybe it was the owner looking for them. He didn't see the puppy when he got back.

I was too tired on Tuesday to do anything.

It was hot! I didn't take Fonzie this time because it was too hot to hold him. We don't walk him because we don't want him to accidentally trip my dad, even though I shorten the leash, and it's too hot for him to walk right now anyway.

Came back and did the cat litters, which is a workout.

Went for a walk with Dad and Fonzie. He's gotten soft in the time off and was only able to go one block.

Mom has been talking about trying indoor walking workouts since we've been getting advertisements for an app. Still waiting.

Wrist is still hurting, so I opted for hands free yoga. Almost forgot to do the Better Legs Challenge!

My little Goosebumps loving heart was so happy this past week! Went to Ollie's and found a ten-book "box"* set of the Horrorland series and a six-book set of the SlappyWorld series (still super glad for the redesign on those dummies). Ended up being around $2 a book. Also found out about few weeks ago that my little cousin has discovered Goosebumps. She asked if anyone had ones they could send them. I told my mom I probably had some extras lying around. With the Horrorland series set, that gave me two of the first three books, and I did later find extras of two of the originals. Mom reached out to my cousin and she said she'd look at what her son has when she gets home, and we still haven't heard anything back.

I have a serious book problem (don't ask how long my reading list is!), and I told my family a while back that books were my only addiction after adding quite a few more to my collection. My aunt told me that's not true, because I'm addicted to coffee. Girl, please. I drink one cup a day, but if it's stormy weather, I don't drink it. I will literally go weeks without it and be fine. But it's funny because everything my mom and I go shopping, she'll ask us to pick her up some coffee. Ummm...

I'm trying to fight off a cold that my brother brought home, so I'm trying to balance that with getting back into exercising. We'll see how long I'm able to do this.
