AMA July 2023 - How To Train All Year Round it's making me think a lot.
And it keeps running through my head: don't always do more but do it better, smarter.
I've found confirmation of what I experienced firsthand this year with my new adventure in the gym and so I'm starting to sum up a bit.
  • If it doesn't work or you don't feel like it anymore, change.
  • The unexpected is the norm, not the exception, so learn to live with it.
  • It takes much longer to recover than to get hurt, so always be careful.
  • You always have to have a plan B and a C and a D...
  • And... no plan always works.
  • You always quit first with the mind than with the body.
  • If you don't stop, you're still moving forward.
And now I have to think about how to train smarter :LOL:

Today I worked up a sweat, had fun and let off steam :LOL:
Combat workouts always give me satisfaction.
I'm reevaluating the rest between sets, today if I hadn't done 1 min of rest I wouldn't have been able to maintain a great pace and always do 20 push-ups for all sets.
Yesterday I started selecting some HIIT workouts to keep on hand, today I've already changed my mind and I'm veering towards combat workouts and maybe some combat HIIT workouts :)

Oh dear I did a very short workout yesterday, in my room, which is half underground and cool.
I literally had sweat dripping off of me fromjust a few squats and a plank...
Today I continued to sweat for 45 minutes after finishing my workout :LOL:

Linguistic nuances with translations are lost, at least for someone like me who is not very good with English :)

While it is true, the context helped to understand. But don't beat yourself too much by saying you're not very good with English. I don't think anyone is, including those whose mother tongue is English. I know that I am not that good with Spanish either, and I'm a writer, and that's my mother tongue! :LOL:

Trust me, you are more capable with the language than you think.

@Tileenah You might also add "perseverance" if that makes his sentence more powerful. I personally think "to persevere" is a much more beautiful verb than "to persist" or "to insist." At least in this context anyway.

About that quote, though... there are a few more "try again" missing before the "Then quit" part. In fact, "try smarter" is also missing.

Some friends of ours came to visit us and we hosted them for 2 days with their little one year old daughter and it's really challenging having a little baby at home :p
I developed feline reflexes and naps for a few seconds with my eyes open to try to make up for the lost hours of sleep :eyes:
Today I wanted to go to the gym to maintain the two weekly strength workouts with weights but I just couldn't do it so I opted for a quick workout with kettlebells and I still achieved the desired result :yas:

Today despite the commitments and the unexpected I managed to go to the gym to train :yas:

I realized that my legs are definitely weaker than my arms but I'm working on it by doing hundreds of kicks.
It will be interesting to see if the two workouts (combat workout and gym) will bring better results than individually.

Today I wanted to start a workout program of pull-ups and push-ups but I'm still sore from the gym so I'll start it tomorrow and do two workouts a week of pull-ups and push-ups and not three and spaced out at least one day of active rest from the gym :)
A combat workout, on the other hand, is perfect for active rest days after the gym.

Today I was able to do pull-ups and push-ups and so I started the new training program: at the beginning of the set of combat workouts I do pull-ups, push-ups and start the set without breaks.
I've been following the progression of this site, taking it very easy :LOL:
100 Pushups | How to do a hundred pushups
50 Pullups | Ultimate pullups training
The pace of the workout like this is very slowed down but it's a pragmatic solution for doing two workouts that interest me together.
The idea was to do 3 workouts a week of pull-ups and push-ups but I've already reduced that to two, if I push in the gym I need at least one day without strength training and just some kicks and punches to loosen my muscles.
I'm going to the gym tomorrow, let's see how it goes :)

Today I increased the weights in the gym but decreased the reps and I feel better :LOL:
12 repetitions for all the exercises are exhausting, while around 6 I make a fair effort.
Just play on the weight so i don't do too little :p
I must say that I was very happy with the gym I chose, it is also open throughout August, it closed only during the red holidays otherwise it was always open and I also liked the evening classes, definitely a good investment :)

1000 kicks & 1000 punches in one workout :yas:
From the workout there were 980 kicks and punches, I couldn't resist and I rounded the figure to 1000, so I reached a goal that I had set for myself: 1000 kicks in a workout, I threw the punches to balance the kicks :LOL:
