  • Managed Fit December!
  • Both kittens were on the couch with me last night!
  • And Nox has been letting us all pet him more!
  • The utmost frustration:
  • FINALLY figured out a Christmas present for my mom
  • (She's even worse than Dad, and that's saying something!)
  • Went to three stores (THREE) and struck out
  • (Slippers! Her current pair squeak when she walks! A new pair would be perfect!
  • And yet...)
  • My second idea is actually pretty great, but that depends on getting to the store and the store being in stock
  • Wish me luck?
  • Good: ventured out on a failed quest
  • Happy: look at these kittens and be unhappy. I dare you.
  • (They're in THE EXACT SAME POSITION!)

  • Basics
  • Busy day!
  • The weather has shifted dramatically and we're expecting some nasty wind
  • Winds may reach up to 65mph (105kph) on Friday
  • So Christmas plans may be changed
  • We've stocked necessities and run some last minute chores (including Mom's present!), so we should be okay!
  • It would be sad not to see the Es, though
  • The new fireplace is in!
  • The heat this thing generates!
  • It is half the BTUs of our furnace!
  • We had to run it for 6 hours to cure everything and it got warm
  • And it has a battery backup to start it, so it's just in time!
  • And finally, I packaged all of my presents (though I will be wrapping tomorrow)
  • Not bad for 5 hours of sleep, minimal caffeine, and no naps!
  • Good: finished everything
  • Happy: all three of our felines are enraptured with the new fireplace. We're getting a rug asap!

  • Tons of muscle tightness that feels like misaligned vertebrae
  • Took a nap and had a cup of tea
  • Weather forecast is getting worse
  • I sincerely hope the power won't go out during laundry tomorrow
  • (Desperately needed that nap)
  • Most probably won't be seeing the Es
  • But!
  • I had a kitten on my lap!
  • That makes so many unhappy things fade away!
  • Good: self care
  • Happy: my kitten is the best
  • (I have claimed him. No one has argued. Mwahaha.)

Nobu is my cuddly lap lander. And hug giver. And playmate. He's a perfect little devil!

Wind chill! Gusting wind! Snow! Wegmans closed! It's pretty crazy!

But we're all home safe and the fire is very pretty. I hope you and yours stay safe, too.

  • This weather is really making it feel like Christmas isn't here yet
  • Knowing the Es won't be here is very sad
  • (It's the first time in her life I won't be spending the day with her)
  • We have made plans, though!
  • We'll be joining them at their place next Friday
  • My sister is very pleased to be hosting her first Christmas!
  • Mom was asked to come in early (7 instead of 9) and they closed the store at 12
  • (That's how you tell if it's bad in Buffalo. Wegmans almost never closes!)
  • Her drive home was nerve-wracking, but she made it safely!
  • She has also started the Christmas movies
  • We've seen Die Hard (always a favorite) and Home Alone
  • It's been years, so I had no idea how horrible Kevin's family is
  • Yikes!
  • Good: cleaned the bathroom and climbed into attic!
  • Happy: Nobu cuddled with me for hours
  • I hope everyone is staying safe!

  • Took another Hall Pass
  • The Bills game threw my time off
  • (But we won! The game and AFC East!)
  • It was actually pretty clear this morning, but the wind and snow started back up a few hours ago
  • We've kept power and unfrozen pipes all this time, thankfully
  • Fingers crossed that remains!
  • Nobu followed me into the kitchen after I stopped petting him
  • My cuddly baby!
  • He then decided we were all ignoring him and climbed the tree again
  • Christmas Media (according to my mother):
  • Die Hard
  • Home Alone
  • The Sound of Music
  • Bills Game
  • A Boy Called Christmas
  • Spirited
  • (A Boy Called Christmas is sweet and we've seen it twice now this season; Spirited is funny and a great take on a classic story; highly recommend both!)
  • Good: fun family time
  • Happy: Nobu curls into my side if I bring him to the couch. He jumped off my dad when he tried the same. MY baby! Mwahaha!

  • Good food! Great family time! No power outage!
  • Still missing the Es, but that's the weather
  • Nobu joined me on the couch most of the afternoon
  • He wasn't on my lap, but he was on the couch!
  • Dad picked the movies today:
  • It's a Wonderful Life
  • Holiday Inn
  • White Christmas
  • (Dad's preferences are decidedly older)
  • We've actually watched White Christmas already; it's one of two start of season films, that and A Christmas Carol
  • But we watched Holiday Inn
  • Can you watch that and not follow with White Christmas?
  • The weather is breaking in the morning!
  • Wegmans is still closed on Monday

  • But they have to dig everything out
  • So Mom gets another day off!
  • I think I might press for some more modern movies tomorrow
  • Good: it's been a cold, blustery day full of family time
  • Happy: new toys! Kittens! Great food!

  • We can get up to two more feet tonight
  • I should clarify that everyone else went to the store
  • I stayed home with the kittens
  • It was glorious
  • (Nox let me pet him!!)
  • No Christmas movies today!
  • But Mom goes back to work tomorrow, so I'll put one or two on while she's gone
  • And get started on my new puzzle!
  • Good: another quiet day with family
  • Happy: kittens! being adorable!

  • Best laid plans and all that...
  • My body decided we needed sleep
  • So that's what I did. Until 11
  • I've taken today as a quiet day
  • My felines have obliged!
  • Mom went in late when the car got stuck in the driveway
  • And the store had a power outage over the weekend, so all of the small coolers went out
  • That's dairy, meat, all the prepped foods for packaged meals, and frozen
  • All gone
  • They didn't open the store until 2
  • Mom did say being able to work without people asking questions was lovely, though!
  • Nobu has decided he likes being held
  • A lot
  • He will mew and bat at my legs until I pick him up
  • No petting required! Just cuddling
  • (It's lovely. Just wonderful! Until I have to put him down. He melts and doesn't stand on his own!)
  • I'm playing a fun game called: is my tinnitus from my new headphones or my sinuses?
  • I'm sincerely hoping it's sinuses. My new headphones are lovely!
  • Good: listened to my body
  • Happy: Nobu

  • Fell asleep on the couch last night
  • Then overslept in my bed
  • But I watched movies and started my puzzle!
  • So not too bad?
  • Rewatched The Christmas Chronicles and Klaus
  • Found them last year and quite enjoyed them again this year!
  • The puzzle is about 1/4 of the way done
  • I'll post a picture when it's finished
  • It's Casper's birthday!
  • (Maybe? He's adopted.)
  • I feel a bit bad for him
  • The kittens were in  moods
  • There was a great deal of running and yowling
  • (They also followed me into the bathroom and we're far too interested in the shower. It was an experience)
  • Found my old wireless headphones!
  • I don't love them because they press into my glasses uncomfortably
  • But until (hopefully) my tinnitus quiets they're the best choice
  • Nobu decided to cuddle earlier
  • I was unable to move
  • (Oh woe is me! 😂)
  • Good: completed objectives
  • Happy: cuddly kitten!

  • Fit December

  • step up Challenge
  • :completed:
  • Pushed through Fit December to keep the month in line
  • Good to do lunges again, but glad it's over
  • Watched Glass Onion last night
  • Great movie!
  • I still prefer Knives Out, but GO was very good
  • Kittens were being kittens
  • The tree skirt is on the other side of the room
  • But Nobu was also very cuddly
  • So it balances out!
  • Puzzle is about 2/3 of the way done
  • I got annoyed yesterday and took a break today
  • I am currently eating cookies and chocolate gifted by my brother
  • It's very yummy!
  • Good & Happy: Nobu cuddles!

  • It was so adorable and funny I accidentally made him move with my shaking
  • My kitten! 😻
  • Love the look of the new programs!
  • I need to add weights back in, so these are perfect!
  • Really hoping January's challenge is The Guardian
  • My brother broke my pull-up bar and hasn't replaced it yet
  • Good: out to lunch with the family
  • Happy: this kitten is making me happier by the day!

  • The Guardian Challenge
  • Splits Exercises
  • Glad to be doing a HIIT program again!
  • My day got away from me a bit
  • No puzzle, sadly
  • My sincerest hope to finish that tomorrow!
  • I'll be making mousse for dinner with the Es as well
  • That's quick and easy, though
  • If I have the time (and patience) I'll make meringue cookies, too
  • My sister assured me the mousse would be enough
  • But why not go extra?
  • (It's unknown if the desire will live beyond tonight. We'll see!)
  • Mom and Dad had a glass of champagne when the ball dropped
  • I hugged and kissed a kitten
  • Guess who had the better deal
  • Good: chores
  • Happy: listening to music I've not heard in a while

  • Got a new toy!
  • Will it work as advertised?
  • I doubt it
  • (800 calories in 30 minutes? Ha.)
  • But, with only 10 rotations, I'm already feeling it in my lower back
  • Not badly, but noticably
  • I decided to use the format from First Thing Push-Ups to get used to it
  • I think that will be best
  • Meant to get to the mousse today
  • But there was a catastrophe with the puzzle
  • (I think I can make it look like a real catastrophe and save it, if that makes sense?)
  • I've taken the rest of the night to decompress
  • I love these puzzles, but they certainly test my patience!
  • For now, mandarins, dark chocolate, and a cup of tea are in order
  • Good: made it through the struggle
  • Happy: cousin stopped by last night and my kitten was super affectionate!
