  • Daily Exercise w EC
  • Niagara-on-the-Lake was lovely!
  • A bit of a double-edged sword
  • A Tuesday in January means almost no people!
  • A Tuesday in January means slow season, so half the shops are closed
  • Our favorites were still open and The Angel Inn never closes, so we still had a great time!
  • I'm quite sad to see both a Starbucks and Dairy Queen, though
  • One of the biggest draws of the area is the small, family owned shops
  • (And it's not like there aren't half a dozen ice cream places already)
  • My back is definitely still out, but I'm at the point where most things don't hurt
  • (Walking? That hurt...)
  • Nobu wanted cuddles and curled up half on my lap, half in my arm
  • I was so happy!
  • E's come tomorrow!!
  • Good & Happy: excursion with the family!

  • Last night, not long after I wrote my post, my cold took a turn for the worst
  • Nasal drip has been awful
  • The body pains aren't too bad, but the stuffy head and dizziness are quite strong
  • Mucinex has been helping
  • And I didn't get to see the Es, unfortunately 😢
  • Big E* slipped at work and landed on a ladder
  • He didn't break his ribs, thankfully, but he has very bad bruising
  • (The doctor said he's seen broken ribs with much less bruising)
  • So they're both taking things easy!
  • *Big E's family started the big and little E thing and I love it so much!
  • Supper was still delightful and I got cake!
  • Mom decided on movies this afternoon, so she watched Black Atom and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
  • I didn't see much of Black Atom because of cooking, but she really liked it
  • As a standalone movie, with no ties to the DCU, I liked what I saw!
  • Puss in Boots was spectacular!
  • So sweet, charming, funny!
  • I highly recommend that one!
  • Good: made supper
  • Happy: last night, Casper joined me; when I woke to Dad's alarm, Nobu had joined both of us! They were curled together!!

  • Exhaustion and mucus have filled my day
  • Why do our sinus cavities have to become snot factories when sick?
  • Yuck
  • Did see Tyler!
  • My back still hurts because it is now in and it got used to being out
  • Fun
  • The kittens no longer hate me!
  • Nox wasn't bad (surprisingly)
  • Nobu, though?
  • It took 5 tries (finally catching him with a towel) before we got him into a crate
  • The vet tech had the genius idea to take the top of the crate off to get him out and it worked perfectly!
  • Both boys are in perfect health and 8.5 pounds (Nox is an ounce heavier)
  • Since they're around 7 months, they may get to double the size of Casper!
  • After a chance to chill out, Nobu let me pick him up!
  • (I honestly thought I'd have a day or two of grovelling.)
  • Good: met my appointments
  • Happy: kittens are back to normal!

  • This cold is getting frustrating
  • If it reaches any lower, it'll become bronchitis and I really can't afford that
  • Mom called off today and tomorrow, Dad's not feeling well, and my brother is only now getting better
  • It's not fun here right now
  • But there's a kitten on my lap as I write this
  • So it's not  all bad!
  • (He's "helping" me type this, even!)
  • I'm so glad there are no bad feelings about those crates
  • It's been a slow day
  • Good: half the laundry is done
  • Happy: Nobu joined me last night!

  • I used my knees for this one; my core is not up to planks
  • Not worse, but not better
  • Mom and Dad are doing better, though
  • (Hoping it's not the calm before the storm there)
  • Benadryl has been helping
  • So I've been fighting sleep all day
  • The amount of caffeine I've had today exceeds the past two weeks combined
  • Thinking I maybe should have just taken naps
  • 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • Good: finished laundry
  • Happy: Nobu was on my bed last night! He slept next to me!

  • Maybe tomorrow?
  • Both nostrils are acting up
  • Better than just my left being a mucus factory!
  • Some medicines are better than others
  • Mucinex had me coughing enough to almost get sick
  • So I'm not taking that again
  • Fingers crossed Mom doesn't get sent home tomorrow
  • That game...
  • There comes a time every year when we come back to the argument that NFL games are rigged
  • Today was that day
  • (My poor mother; she went to bed upset about it!)
  • Good: didn't push it
  • Happy: it's slow, but I am getting better!

  • The brain fog is lifting!
  • Still tired, still sickly, still sore
  • Dad passed on the delightful news that a variant of the flu is going around
  • Guess why I'm still sick
  • Good: productive day
  • Happy: Nobu insisted I hold him while making supper; I've not held a child in a while, but this brought back memories!

  • The brain fog is still gone! Hopefully this means it's gone for good!
  • My back, which Tyler realigned, is out
  • Again? Or still? Because it hasn't felt better since I saw him
  • And I woke this morning to my neck being out
  • If that doesn't fix itself by tomorrow, I'm making an appointment
  • But! My ears are popping when I blow my nose!
  • Mucus is moving!
  • (The amount of tissues I've gone through...)
  • The best part of this flu is having an appetite
  • The only other time I've caught the flu I didn't want to eat a bite
  • Silver linings!
  • Kittens have been sleeping upstairs all day
  • They'll probably be manaces tonight...
  • Good: went to bed early and overslept; that was some much needed sleep
  • Happy: Papa made supper with a new recipe and it was very yummy!

  • Glad to be back on track!
  • I forgot to mention that when I was going through the program backlog I did not use weights
  • My body wasn't quite up to that
  • My neck is worse today, but Tyler has an opening tomorrow!
  • Super glad for that!
  • I'm down to drugs to keep me asleep through the night and ibuprofen
  • Still sniffling, sneezing, and coughing
  • But I'm definitely on the mend!
  • I'm trying to get the cats on film, introducing them mainly
  • They're being cats
  • Nox, the shy and skittish one, was easiest
  • Nobu just wants love
  • (And to play)
  • Casper hides from the kittens
  • I'll get them eventually!
  • Good: overslept again; no caffeine needed!
  • Happy: homemade pizza for supper!

The absolute best advantage of having a parent who works in a grocery store:

Massively discounted discontinued items! If you haven't heard yet, a new law in NY went into effect Dec. 31 that banned PFAS, a substance found in certain packages. Including Kerrygold Butter.

Wegmans took all such product off the shelf and sold it massively discounted. How much? 8 oz usually sells for $5.19. These were a dollar a piece. I'M HOLDING 5 POUNDS OF BUTTER IN MY HAND.

Oh, joyous day. I have. so. much. BUTTER!!

  • Tyler fixed my back! And neck!
  • He remembered that he has to go to extremes to crack me
  • He literally put his knee on mine to get the proper tension to crack my back
  • But it worked!
  • He also decided to try using the typical maneuver to crack my neck
  • (Twisting firmly to the side)
  • He laughed when it didn't do a thing and commented I'm the only person it happens with
  • Yay?
  • The strap to the rescue!
  • And this is an off week, so if anything decides to unalign itself, I see him in a week!
  • Feeling much better
  • Still a bit too much mucus and I cough if I laugh (unfortunately)
  • But otherwise doing very well!
  • The kittens gave me the very best surprise last night

  • LOOK! BOTH OF THEM!
  • I was able to lift Nobu (against my pillow) and slide under him
  • AND Nox remained at the end of the bed!
  • Both kittens
  • As I slept
  • Nobu was purring
  • Needless to say, I slept well last night!
  • Good: everything realigned
  • Happy: my sweet, sweet kittens

  • Apparently, when I lost my phone cord last night, I held my position extremely  wrong
  • My poor, poor thigh!
  • It's just muscle soreness, thankfully
  • The things we can accidentally do to our bodies!
  • Spent the afternoon with the family
  • It was lovely!
  • The benefit of kitchen hands:
  • I held down the aluminum foil against the pan to remove a piece of chicken
  • The pan that had been in the 350°F oven for 15 minutes
  • With my bare finger
  • It stings a bit, but that's all!
  • If that had been my arm, though?
  • Oh, the burns my arms have suffered...
  • Still lingering mucus
  • Bleh
  • Nobu curled up in my legs last night
  • Then curled up against my belly when I went to bed
  • I was very happy!
  • Good: good family time
  • Happy: kitten!

  • I'm going back to using Sudafed during the day
  • Mucus is sticking in the back of my throat
  • If I can get rid of that, I'll be all better!
  • (Unlike pretty much everyone else...)
  • I've had a quiet evening to myself
  • Which means a hodgepodge supper and super quiet kittens!
  • (Supper included two heads of broccoli all to myself. There was much satisfaction.)
  • The kittens have begun ignoring their food in favor of the adult food
  • They will come to me and cry if the kitten bowl is full!
  • My brats!
  • But!
  • Nox progress!
  • I was petting a kitten and went to grab him when he ran away!
  • Nox never lets me pet him!
  • I was so happy!
  • Good: quiet evening
  • Happy: Nox!

  • Today ended up being a much quieter day than I expected
  • Then I saw a post on Instagram about the football game
  • Without the game, the day is almost 4 hours longer!
  • (Without the Bills, only the Superbowl will be watched in this house)
  • Nobu woke me with his trilling this morning
  • (He was playing with something?)
  • And now he's doing it again
  • My silly kitten!
  • People are trying to sleep!
  • (He can't want attention; I'm sitting right here! He demanded petting just 3 minutes ago!)
  • Hooray for kittens being the biggest news of the day!

  •  Soo yummy!
  • Great to make supper again, too
  • Mom surprised me by telling me the Es are coming on Wednesday!
  • Dreading coming up with a menu, but ecstatic to see them!
  • Es Wednesday, Bee and Tyler Thursday, and if my health continues to increase, blood donation on Saturday!

  • Yeah. That didn't help. At all.
  • The shower did, though!
  • Nobu curled on the back of the couch all afternoon!
  • It wasn't right against me, but it was the same couch!
  • I know the kittens have grown, but the Es haven't seen them since we brought them home
  • I'm curious what they say!
  • Good: leftover fajitas for lunch!

  • Did tomorrow's routine since I'm seeing Bee and Tyler
  • SAW THE ES!!
  • And my cousin came by, too!
  • Love seeing all of them!
  • My sister chose her wedding venue!
  • It looks  stunning!
  • The owner is also the event organizer and super nice
  • There's still plenty more to do
  • (She's having some minor difficulty with the photographer; hopefully she's just busy!)
  • But the venue being scheduled is a huge weight lifted!
  • (It amuses me that I'm getting so excited when the wedding isn't even until September 2024.)
  • Now I have answers when Tyler asks me about wedding plans!
  • (Every visit. My sister's work schedule has had her away for several months. First question after small talk: "how's wedding planning going?")
  • (One of the many reasons we all love Tyler so much!)
  • Unfortunately, I've rather plateaued with my sinuses, so I don't think I'm donating this weekend
  • It's just stuck at the back of my throat! Move, already!!
  • Good: cousin stopped by!
  • Happy: I saw the Es! And they're doing so well! :hope:
