Congratulations on getting the job! That's amazing!

GIF by INTO ACTION

New job means new routines. Next week will be testing things out. I'm thinking I try to go for a walk/run in the morning before work, and then do my routine after work. I'm thinking 1 Challenge and 1 Program to start. It's been over a year since I was on a 8-5 schedule so it's going to take some adjusting. I think working out will help, even though it will probably be a struggle to get it done, especially in the start. I'll work through my backlog to start off and I'll finish the programs/challenges I have already started.

Hopefully my Monthly Debuff fades before actual work starts.... if I start on the 24th as planned I'll probably still be on it, which doesn't sound fun.... but I guess I'm going to have to get used to working set schedules while Debuffing, and soon. The reason I tried to leave the 8-5 cycle in the first place was to find something that would give me more flexibility during those times of the month, especially since that time lasts SO LONG and is such a huge pain for me. But, that didn't work out financially and I need the stability back so I'm going to have to figure it out. The plus side is that I'll have health insurance and I may even be able to get FMLA to help get some regular time off during the worst of it. There are people who do the position I've been hired for remotely, so maybe I can work something out where I'm working from home during the worst of it. Those will be conversations for a later date, and I'll probably hold them off until I'm done with my probationary period (I think it's 90 days). Until then, I'm going to probably take more painkillers than is healthy to get through it while I get established at work. I have heatpads that I can wear, as well. The hardest part will be not looking like I'm a corpse at my desk. I should be able to endure for the first few months, but hopefully I can get some medical care/FMLA/etc to make things easier and more sustainable.

Oh the joys of being born with a uterus.

Days 140 and 141

WoD, yoga

I've been forgetting to mention it but I've been keeping up on my knee rehab, too.

Also, food stuff is completely out of control. Even though I'm eating much healthier than I have in the past, I'm still eating way too damn much, too often, and am still having a few too many take-outs/fast food.

In the moment I know that I'm eating too much/eating things I shouldn't be eating, but I have a hard time stopping myself. I asked my partner if I could use him as an accountability tool, so for the next little bit I'll be reporting everything I eat to him. I had a bit of a confessional to him where I recounted all the things I've eaten in the last two weeks and saying it out loud was seriously mortifying. Despite this, I'm doing much better than I have in the past, and I'm still at least 50lbs down from my heaviest. I just need to get back on track and get things moving in the right direciton again. There was a time around 10 or so years ago where I was eating fast food like twice a day. Now, I have it maybe once every other week. Ideally, I'd like to eat out no more than once a month. I think having to report in when/what I'm eating will help snap me out of my food-black-out-binges.

I thought that kicking/slowing down the fast food habit would magically fix everything, but it turns out I'm able to still do quite a bit of damage in my own kitchen! My giant salads would be helping if I didn't also have an oversized dinner to go with it. And then an oversized 2nd-dinner right after. And then an oversized snack after that. And then more snacks. And more snacks. And then a huge breakfast. and then a huge lunch. and rinse and repeat.

There has been a lot of stress with this whole job situation and I'm someone who tends to eat their feelings so it makes sense why I'm kind of slipping right now. But, the job stress is now ending, and so it's time to reel things in and get back on track!

Earlier this year I had a really great string of like, 8-ish months where my eating was completely under control and I felt sooooo much better in my day to day life because of it. I just have to remind myself how much better I'll feel, even though in the moment I feel like I'll literally drop dead if I don't eat two boxes of mac and cheese at the same time. There is no situation where eating two boxes at once is appropriate/good for me! Literally none! It's just silly. (and that's not even the worst of it).

Anyway, that's that. And now to move forward. I've gotten things under control before, and I can do it again. In the battle against the food-noise, I am confident that I will win.

Streak Day 143
Starting out easy. I may end up doing more today but I want to make sure I don't overdo it. I did full butt-kicks as a first test for my knees to see how well the rehab has been working. Everything felt really solid but I'll know more later. Usually the knee issues don't pop up until a few hours after exercise.

Also, I got word that my drug screening and background checks all came back clear and I can officially start on Monday.

I'm so excited. I'll be working in the same building as my partner which means we can carpool and can spend lunches together!!! That's an extra like, two hours a day we'll get to spend together. I'm so excited for that! He's my favorite. And we'll be back on the same schedule. So, my biggest problems are now solved: I can afford to live again and I can spend more time with my partner!!! I was so worried I'd end up getting a job that had us on opposite schedules again but thankfully everything is finally working out for once. It has been a ROUGH few years financially for me so this is going to be such a welcome change.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh

I hope everyone else is having a good morning/day/evening/night :D

Knee was a little upset, but not as upset as usual. Will continue to go slowly.

Today was a pretty good workout day. Slowly making my way back to regular intensity. Most of what was done today was done at a low intensity and pretty slowly. I still worked up quite a sweat and had my heart rate going so it was definitely a good workout.

My partner doesn't like the fitness watch tracker thing that he got for himself so I'm going to try it out starting tomorrow. It'll be nice to see my heart rate and stuff during the workouts. It'll be especially handy when I get back to running outside. I always just gauge my heart rate based on whether or not I can have a conversation while running so it'll be cool to see the actual specifics of everything.

Have a great day/night everyone :D

I used the fitness watch thing for the first time today. During my workout my average heart rate was 123 and the max was 151. It was the highest during Cardio Go!.

I finished Zero Hero! I really liked this program. I don't think I'm going to replace it yet. I'm going to continue to work through the back log and get the stuff I've already started completed.

My knee feels ok-ish. I think when my health insurance kicks in I need to see a physical therapist.

Pretty good workout day. My watch says that I need to recover for 13 hours. That feature is going to be interesting for sure. I'm still slowly working up the intensity. I did today slightly more intense than yesterday. Tomorrow I'll kick it up one more notch.

Have a great day everyone!

Streak Day 146
I was able to go to the gym with my partner yesterday evening so I tacked that onto this log.

For now I've dropped yoga abs and 10k punches. I do want to eventually do them, just not now or anytime in the near future. My routine is almost reasonable now! Now to try to keep it that way......

That said, it was another good workout day. I upped the intensity for some of the sets with Cardio Go! and it felt really good. Now to give it a few hours and I'll know if I pushed too much or if I'm good to keep pushing tomorrow.

I hope everyone is doing well :D

Streak Day 148
I finished Easy Arms. I felt kinda meh about this challenge. The hardest part was spending the time doing the high reps at the end of the challenge. I skipped the rests most of the time.

Tomorrow is my first day of work! I can't wait until I'm out of training and can just do my own thing. I'll be shadowing various people for around a month, I think.

I hope everyone had a good weekend :D

@Laura Rainbow Dragon @Mamatigerj @Princess Fancy @NightTigress @Anek @Fremen @NightWolf714 @Syrius @CODawn Thank you everyone!!! :D

Sunday night I was so excited for my first day that I was unable to sleep. I think I got a little more than 2 hours. Luckily my adrenaline and excitement got me through my first day. I met so many people and learned so many things! I need to figure out how I'm going to decorate my area because it seems that people take that pretty seriously at this office. Everyone's offices/cubies are extremely personalized and decorated. It makes the office feel really homey and welcoming. By the end of the day though I had a huge migraine from the lack of sleep. When we got home from work around 6 I ended up getting right in bed and slept until a little after 5.

My second day was much better thanks to how much sleep I got. I want to go to bed early every night now. I'm a chronic night owl but everything felt so good today that that just may turn me into someone who values a good night's sleep over a few extra hours of free time.

Workout updates to follow... sometime! I didn't do my full routine yesterday or today but I did get a few things done to keep the streak alive.

I hope everyone has had a good start to their week!

Dear Santa,

I have really been enjoying low-impact cardio in my routine. I have been trying to push myself more and more, so I'm not opposed to being challenged with a few high-impact moves.

Yoga and meditation have been a staple of mine for a long time. I still can't do headstands, shoulder stands, or other advanced moves like that. I usually prefer the gentle moves, but I don't mind being challenged.

My favorite exercises would have to be combat moves. I can do all variations of kicks that are on Darebee, including all low, medium, and high, variations. I love punching and I love combo moves.

I own a pullup bar, but mainly use it for deadhangs (which are a favorite of mine) and negative pullups.

I own a set of dumbells and enjoy strength work.

Thanks Santa!

Finished Punch Up!! I really enjoyed this challenge! It was a lot of fun. I also finished 2-minute abs. I liked this program and found it just challenging enough. I kind of want to try 4-minute abs next... but I may chose one of the other ab programs instead. We'll see.

I have almost definitely leveled up but I still need to add everything up. I meant to do it the other night but I ended up forgetting. An XP update hopefully to follow shortly.
