She is cognitively impaired, for sure and getting more so every day. It’s a challenge.😵‍💫
Yeah, our yard is big, and Canoe has the full run of it. Sometimes, I take him down the hill to swim. Throwing the ball in our yard where there is shade to rest, is also adequate for exercise and play for him.😎
 
I'm sorry to learn that about her. My grandmother died from alzheimer and had about 8 years of declining cognitive abilities. It's probably not the same situation but yeah, not pleasant at all.

I had 2 grammas and a grampa with dementia of varying sorts. And, I often had patients with some sort of cognitive impairment or dementia, as well. As did my husb whose primary population in his medical practice were elderly folks. The thing about this that is most difficult is that it is his mother. And, that she is aware that she is increasingly less capable, and it only makes her more paranoid. So she says she can’t remember, and that she’s lost X or Y, and that she needs help. But, then when help is stated and offered, she reverts back to her standard way of coping, which is to say NO to any and all suggestions to help. My poor husb is tearing his hair out. Thinking about her trying to move here to our house is a hand wringing thought to me😵‍💫😤

AM- woke up close to 6:30am (PDT) to a neighbor knocking on our door saying our sprinkler system had sprung a leak. This year a back flow check valve was required to be placed on the system at the sidewalk main valve. This is the second time this month there’s been a problem🙄
