@princess_sarena Thank you!

@Laura Rainbow Dragon Thanks! I'm currently on 9K, and it's just been three days so far. I didn't have time to punch as many words as I wanted today, but still, I'm nearly a fifth of the way through!

That's how I started the day, and the day was actually quite good. I actually forgot that I had a Facebook and a couple of people wrote me on it; something that I'll probably end up replying tomorrow at some point. I got many congratulations, spent the day with my friends playing D&D, had some cake, it was a fun day... but it was still void overall...

Eventually, the message that I wanted arrived late, but it arrived. That cheered me up immensely. It changed my entire night. I mean, I stayed up, but it wasn't because of that message, but the water came really late. I still managed to write and went slightly above 2.5K, meaning that I'm close to one fifth of the way complete. It took me nearly 10K words to actually begin the plot's journey, and I still have a lot to take in. It's a project that, like I said, will go beyond 50K, and as long as the most important points and the main plot is written, I won't feel any pressure in the future, because I need to tell my story first, and this first draft is truly for me because I'm healing. Now, more than ever, I know that the end product will be so much different, but it can't be until I write it first.

So, 2604 words today. Not bad at all, especially when I didn't put enough time on it. It was more a collection of three random writing sessions in which I wasn't too sure on how long they had to last, but I'm glad they happened, and I'm glad this project is happening... even if its hurting me. I need it though. I realize that, if I don't write this first, I won't be able to write the other one.

My writing rate lowered, but I knew that was bound to happen during these days. I'm slightly busy, plus while I did go to bed before midnight, I didn't go into the Watch because it was a bit late. Nevertheless, I still earned my gold stars and I think NaNoWriMo is doing something good for me because I can write a lot. Seriously, I can do a lot more than I thought in a day, and the problem is that I always forget that I should challenge myself. Close deadlines, short writing sessions that usually end around 1000 words... I had one that was 49 minutes, and ended up with nearly my daily goal of 1500. I only had 60 words to go. The next one as 1094 words in 38 minutes. 87 minutes total, and 2534 words written, putting me just at the edge of a quarter of the way done. I pretty much reached the first 25% milestone now, and I still haven't taken off my plot. I'm on the chapter 2 of part 1 of this structure now, but I think I can get out of it either today or tomorrow and keep moving forward. The way I see it. I'll be in the middle of part 2 once I reach 50K.

I also took some time to address the fact that my original plan was too limited. I wrote an entire list of things that I could add to actually enrich my story, and that's when I realized I'm missing so much stuff. Today I woke up with the fact that, if I go with the expansion, and it ends up being pretty much one book per part instead of a book divided in three parts, I might even need to change the ending. There is so much that I didn't conceived that I must actually do an entire rewrite after NaNoWriMo is done, and it will take a while. However, I don't care much about it. Why? Because now I know my process; now I know that I can write so much in so little time, and now I know that I can work better if I just try to be better about putting my sh*t together. Seriously, I don't think this is lazyness, but ignorance and forgetfulness. At the end of the day, I must always write like I'm doing NaNoWriMo if I want to do this right.

I'll do some writing later today. It's a busy day though, and tomorrow will also be a bit busy. Nevertheless, I'm nearly 25% through now. According to NaNoWriMo.org, I'll be done next week if I keep going like this... unless I have some luck at one point, like I did last year, and end up with one day in which I wrote 6K.

I want to write more, but I have to go to bed right now. I must wake up early.

I planned to write more, but my time got ate up quickly than I thought. Between journaling, dailies, making lunch, class, workout, and evening errands, all I could output today was 1643 words in 63 minutes. That's it. I mean, it's good because it is in my daily goal of 1500 words, but I just feel empty, like, I wanted to do more... the scene that I'm doing is actually quite fun, even though a bit painful to write. Again, I'll probably drop this, or turn this into something completely different during the editing, but the important part is that it should be out first, and then I'll get to modify it as I please, and as the NaNo evolved.

So it was a busy day... I still go the job done. NaNoWriMo is still on, and I'm willing to reach to 20K by the end of the week.

D&D won't happen this weekend, so I might have gained extra time to write. If that's the case, then I'm cracking my knuckles, because I'm going all in with this.

Still below 2500. Nevertheless, I finished what I started yesterday, yet I saw that there has to be an extra scene after it. I'm still going to move forward, but it won't be today. That will be tomorrow. Not tonight either. I'm skipping the Watch because I want to sleep all night through.

I did my writing this morning by hand, and I transcribed it when I came back from my therapist appointment. There was a two-hour powercut, but that didn't affect me at all. It didn't. I had with me a notebook, and I wrote like 1200 words in two hours. It was a bit of a wasted morning, but it was cool that I got to write at the hospital while I waited for a couple of hours. I noticed that I can fit between 150 to 200 words on A5 sheets of paper without any lines marked on it, so maybe I could use some of the paper that I have for drawing on it shall the need arise. That is actually helpful information to have. If I mark my 7 mm lines, I may have a better range on them. I'll experiment with it when I can.

I also wrote 732 words in 20 minutes, which was... unexpected, really. The total for today is... 111 minutes, with a total output of 1946 words. Out of those 111 minutes, 91 minutes were spent in writing by hand: 582 words in a 49 minute session, and 632 words in a 42 minute session. These were handwritten. The last 732 words were in 20 minutes, and on the computer.

This brings me now at 30% of NaNoWriMo. I think I can reach 20K before the weekend, and I think I'll reach 25% in the weekend.

My therapist told me to be more strict with my writing time, and to actually start saying no. He was really proud about me isolating myself from the exterior problems to focus only on writing because November is meaningful for me, not because it is my birthday month, but because NaNoWriMo is where I'm always at my best when it comes to writing. He was hurt when he learned that the NaNo I lost by a broken hard drive was actually the sequel to a story I sent him. Trust me, no one is more hurt by that than me. That's why I'm putting every single Markdown file that I do daily on my phone with this one: because I'm afraid. Then again, that was just bad luck. When I got the laptop, the hard drive was already faulty. Windows 7 only killed with with its constant writing, and I didn't care to do a backup. My bad. Were not for my ex, I would actually quit for good. Also, I had a previous backup, so that saved my ass, so it wasn't all lost.

Like I said, if I truly lose everything, I'm definitely quitting. However, it is impossible when my stuff is all spread out everywhere. Even if my group don't have many files (with the exception of the other DM), they still have memorized the facts that I've deployed of my settings, and I can easily recover everything with just asking questions. I guess I have no way out to fulfill that promise of quitting writing once and for all if I lose everything again. Besides, this NaNo in particular is important for me to write. Once the first draft is done, then I can make it something publishable, because I already know the end product will be an entirely different book than the one I originally planned.

No Burpees, but a lot of walking. So much walking!

I forced my words out today. The reason being that I got distracted, and wasted a lot of time. I did write for... less than 20 minutes in the morning, and spent slightly more than one hour to punch out as many words as I could, reaching up to 2K. 1.7K in an hour, so it's all good. I'm nowhere near the 3K I've done at the beginning, but I'm bringing myself back up from the ditch I found myself upon at the beginning of the week. Things got busy today, and it was also all a waste of time.

Nevertheless, I saved another book for recycling. It was The Book of Mormon. I always forget that the LDS is active in my city, so that's nice to have. So far I have an Evangelical bible, a Gideon's pocket New Testament with the Psalms and Proverbs, a New World bible (that's the Jehova's Witness bible), and the Book of Mormon. Ironically, I'm missing the Catholic bible because, well, the Evangelical bible that I have was a gift from my dad, who had several and told me to choose one back when I was entering my early teens. While he is Evangelical, I was still raised as a Roman Catholic, so that bible helped me to get my First Communion nevertheless.

Thing is I'm collecting all these texts because I want to see the differences for myself, and I hate to look references up online. Last year, my NaNoWriMo was about JW, and I really wanted one of their bibles to use for research. I'm thinking about rewriting that project and go into a rabbit hole about JW for a week to get enough intel to use in that work again because I'm passionate about it. Honstly, I can't stop feeling like a biblical scholar while I collect all these books. I'm not a Christian anymore, but my relationship with Christianity is pretty much a truce and all the bad feelings, and bad experiences have been long forgiven; water under the bridge. I'm more open about talking, studying, sharing common viewpoints, and learning instead of proselitism and imposition.

Speaking about those two words, I had yet another racist and transphobic experience again. Did you know that everything that I'm going through, and that is wrong with me it's my fault because I was born in this country? Yeah, as if I had any control of where I would like to be born at, as if this was a videogame in which I choose where to spawn. Nevermind the fact that I was like, what? Five or six years old when the sh*t hit the fan here? How could a child even vote in 1999? And why is it that every single time that someone is being an imbecile either to me, or to someone else, it has to be a Colombian? I'm really pissed off because I know plenty Colombian people, and they are very cool. These ones being the true idiots are really giving them a bad name...

I shouldn't be surprised though. This is the same person who said to a Spanish girl (who is as vitriolic as him, and yet she still humiliated him for even daring to say the following) that Europeans need to live more history because they haven't truly lived, like we have in Latinamerica. If I recall correctly, Europe has more recorded history than us. Then this person complains when there's water rationing in their city. Well, newsflash: that's how our crisis started, not because one person dragged everything to the ground, but because the pigs took over the farm, and everything slowly degraded to the point that it stopped working. It happened in Cuba, it happened here, it will happen to Colombia if they go around flaunting themselves as such.

I mean, mess with me all you want, but don't bring my country into this. Just don't. I don't go around telling the Spanish that they should pay reparations for crimes that happened centuries ago, that the current Spain never committed, is very different than the Spanish Empire from the era, and the people's great-great-great-great-great grandparents weren't even thinking about being born, and neither were mine, so I was never a victim of those crimes. We've been friends for almost 200 years now; why stir the pot for beef that has been long gone and forgotten?

People just need to learn the hard way some times... Like, I'm not even bothered by being misgendered because I do my best to not give others the power to assign their perceptions upon me, but my homeland? I know it's a giant pile of sh*t right now, but is my pile of sh*t! You have no idea what I've been through for someone to even justify that I should've been imprisoned for doing my civic duty. People like this only make the ink from my pen turn from black into actual blood. I do hope that, one day, what I write instills enough fear to make people like those even think twice about opening their mouths.

Not going to sleep early today because the water came very, very late.

Ok, I am getting tired. I know that because I'm being attacked by plot bunnies, and I want to quit NaNoWriMo. Yeah, it's getting boring. No, the story is not getting boring, the process of writing it is. I didn't use my strengths to make it episodical or anthological to curve the boredom, but honestly, I actually skipped what was supposed to be a very intense scene and it turned out ot be... normal.

That was the thing that told me I'm getting bored. That won't mean I drop it, that'll mean only that I'll just get to the 30th, and take a break from it, even if the main story isn't finished. I may even start rewriting to actually make my vision the way it is, but hey, having something done is far much better than having nothing. I was supposed to write at midnight, but I just turned off the alarm and kept sleeping. It's alright though, I'm coming back into the routine. I've been waking up at my ideal time lately, but I haven't gotten out of bed immediately, so that's something I need to fix.

So yeah, I think I'll focus only on reaching to 50K now, and getting to the end of the month, because my brain is seriously telling me to take a break from that focus. I already have fallbacks for it, so all I need to do is go after one and be done with it.

I didn't work out yesterday. I was so paralyzed by this that I couldn't do anything. Seriously, I only wrote like a page at noon in just ten minutes, and then went to get the 1500 words total before bed. The plans changed, and I was ready for that. I knew things were changing the moment I realized my original plan really limited the scope of the entire story. It is so much larger than what I have. I believe using both an anthological and episodical approach can actually make it not just easier on my brain, but also more interesting and it will expand the whole thing. The more I see it, the more I'm realizing that I'm writing something less of a movie and more akin to a soap opera, or a TV show with multiple seasons.

The Watch, though I'm not sure whether I'll write. The important thing is that I got up.

1548 words pushed in a single session. Just to get the daily, plus keep going. I actually managed to write every single plot bunny that went into my head, analized its pros and cons, and discarded all of it. I reduced it to two, and had those picked for alternativ routes for NaNoWriMo to prevent burnout. I don't think I'll write tonight since I'm too sleepy, but at least I did write earlier today, and spent the day doing a fix to not interrupt the momentum. Seriously, my writing was hard to do, but at least I did it. I need to keep digging though, but the digging is not too much, I hope.

"ᚨ Ars longa, vita brevis"
Some interesting stats about this week: I've wrote for all seven days, in English, a language in which I write significantly slower than Spanish. Now this week, I've been switching between being at my worst and at my normal, but I ended up producing 14013 words in total; all of them in sessions that never totaled to an amount of minutes equal to 120, or two hours. Every session was less than two hours. Some were even slightly more than an hour, others were less, but the output was always more than 1000 words, and mind you, some of these sessions weren't all the minutes in one go, but I spread the minutes throughout the day. In fact, the average amount of 14013 words in 7 days is 2002 words (rounded up), which means that, at my normal and worst, doing daily sessions of an hour or less, I can produce a 25K novelette in between 12 to 13 days. This is at my normal, slightly going to at my worst.

This says a lot. I mean, what I did this week was, pretty much, show up to the office. My NaNo output lowered for a reason: I'm starting to feel the burnout, so much so that I had to put all the plot bunnies in pieces of paper and discard them all to reduce them to 2, and now I'm ditching that idea because I can bring some stuff back up after seeing this numbers, or simply making short stories to relax after I've done my daily output for NaNo. My goal is currently to go as far as I can go into the main story because I have to break NaNo apart and rebuild it from scratch. The more I write, the more I realize there is so much more that I can do, and the story will thank me for doing it.

Now the reason that I love learning this is because I've been taught the wrong way. I remember back when I was a kid, I was reprimanded for checking up how many pages of a book I had left to read, and get excited that, as I read through, I had less and less. This reminded me on the theory of Flow, and how it was discovered that a sense of progress is what made people motivated. As NaNoWriMo goes by far, I'm at 42.1%; I'm nearly halfway through before we even reached half of the month, and just knowing that is what keeps me going and even motivated to go beyond 50K just to see how far can I get into the story before I tear everything down and start from the beginning. The more I write, the more I realize how many arcs I have for my protagonist, and I'm not doing any justice to the concept.

So I was told to be more strict with my writing. The lesson here is that I can use my ADHD to my advantage. Works like the one I'm doing for NaNo are time consuming, and they can be tiring because I didn't do it the way I was supposed to do it: either anthological, episodical, or both. Instead, I'm just doing a movie in a single take. That's on me. As for the month goes, I can show keep showing to the office, do my daily output, and then get out and have fun with short stories while I plan out something much simpler to write alternatively. Spreading writing sessions throughout the day is also beneficial because, I mean, one of my sessions was just 10 minutes because I had to go out at that moment, and I produced... I think it was a single page of content in those 10 minutes? I don't recall the exact number, but I did around 250 words. That's actually good for me, especially on days where I am busy. Another lesson is that I must do what Restif de la Bretonne did and write everywhere, supporting myself on walls, bridges, benches, and even the backs of people. I'm joking, but you get the idea. Writing by hand is also a novelty, and writing outside, with my notebook, feels genuinely good.

You... bastards! They just cut off the light right when I was going to work out and write! They couldn't just do it earlier, or some other day, but they did it at that exact moment, and the power didn't come back until three hours later! What a way to ruin a day!

Had it not been for the bakery, I wouldn't have written. I managed to punch out 942 words on the notebook, while the 641 left were done after I transcribed everything to the computer. More 1500 words, but still... I hate it. I just can't believe a powercut had to happen at such precise time, right when I was going to start!

It's the Watch now, and I will write in a bit. I am so indignified that today, which could've been a great day, got ruined by one stupid powercut; a powercut that I'm starting to believe it might have killed the router for good.

Honestly I am so proud of you for getting anything done at all with such unpredictability!
You're doing great :heartsit:

Also, if you need to skip a day of writing to prevent burnout, this is okay!
I don't want you to force yourself so much this month that your brain rebels against writing the rest of the year.
I know pushing myself too hard on any one craft will kill the joy for a while :')
In any case, wishing you the best of luck with your writing endeavours

I understand your concern, but that's the problem I have: I can't stop writing. If I don't write a single word for two days, I start to feel anxious, almost as if I'm going through a coffee or tobacco withdrawal. The moment since I put my first serious word on the paper is when I realized this was my way to breathe. Even if it is a journal entry, I have to write, but with NaNo, I don't want to skip a day, honestly. I just want to see if I can do this streak without skipping one day this time.

Besides, this year, joy is not the only part of NaNo. In fact, joy is not part of any of this, but rather a sense of urgency, and with NaNo in particular, pain. Don't get me wrong, I'm in love with writing, but for this moment I'm approaching it more in the sense of a job rather than something I'd do in the basement to cool down. That's why I'm taking notes on how my story expanded, and I'm trying to give myself some breathing room to chase stuff that I like while I work. I might pick some of the things that I've dropped and start writing them as vignettes, like pilots for a TV show. Maybe just a chapter 1, and see if I get some interest on it or not. Then again, I already have a focus, but even that focus might not be enough because attention deficit.

All in all, as long as I'm focusing on NaNoWriMo, I'll be fine. The other stuff is mostly to chill out and relax.

Great job getting as much work done as you did @Sólveig ! It is a very trying mess that you are living through. Kudos to you for all the ways you find to cope with it.

Nearly 50% in just nine days; that's no small feat at all, and I do recognize that too, so thank you! I'll see if I can reach to 30K by the end of the week. Extra credit: finish NaNoWriMo by the end of the week.

A few distractions here and there, but I'm still going. Today actually felt like I'm doing a stopgap on NaNoWriMo since I pretty much lost myself on where I was as it goes in the main plot, but I ended up recovering. with 1653 words added to the count, now I'm at 48,6% through.

The day got busy too, so my writing was a bit down. I mean, I did 67 minutes of writing, yes, but there was one session where it was just 5 minutes, and I punched in 107 words.

I don't recall much about today except not having time to do Burpees and being way behind on Cardio and Abs. Aside from all of this, since right now, during this Watch, until the next one, I reach to 9 years of journaling.

It got busy as well. I did not write during the day whatsoever; only midnight. I also skipped today's Watch because I was pretty tired. Right now my brain can't shut up, so I really ought to do something different than NaNo when it comes to writing, but I'll only do it when I do NaNo first for today. Just my daily 1.5K for now, and I'll dedicat today to shut my brain up for a second.

I hope today's a good day for writing though. Yesterday was really busy, but today might be different. You'll see how busy it was because there's plenty of Xs in my workout. I haven't been doing Burpees in a while, so I hope to get back to them today too.

A powercut didn't stop me. Having no idea about what to write didn't stop me. I had to fight, but I managed to win that fight, and punched out 1853 words in 74 minutes. It was really funny that I said it was going to be different just for the power to go out. Indeed, it was different.

Now that I'm closer to 30K, I think I'm also closer to see that I might finish the first part of the main plot at around work 45K to word 50K. That is, of course, unless my brain pushes out something that will delay the plot, because in some days I've produced delays.

Also, did Burpees today, so I guess I'm back! Everything started to work out at the end of the day, and now I'm more hyped for next writing session, which will be soon. Probably a short one for the moment, but it'll be a new scene. Interestingly, when I was writing, I got yet anothre proof about how much I restrained myself with the original plan after writing a single line. One line revealed to me that I had two chances to make a conflict out of it, and I missed both chances. I took note of it in my NaNo journal anyway, because I'll use that.

I couldn't break to 30K today. I was just 500 words about to do so! The issue was that something came up in the middle of the afternoon, plus I finally got a way to relax and drain all of the issues that come by focusing in a single thing for so long. The novelty felt good, even though I didn't put any words to it. It was more preparation than actual writing, but hey, the real meat for NaNoWriMo today happened during both the Watch, and at the end of the day: still more than 1.5K, but not enough to get into 30K territory. Nevertheless, close enough.

After tonight, I'll be right within 30K now, which means the final stretch is coming. Also, right when I had a shower, I thought about some artists and realized that one common thread that the people I thought of had with my story.

Anyway, no Burpees today, but tons of walking... and walking with a lot of weight in my back! I feel like I just lost a centimeter of height.

It really hasn't been my week for working out, and today wasn't a day for writing. A powercut at noon, then chores, then paralysis... While I did stuff during the previous Watch, this time was more of a sprint to put more words out. I was about to keep going, but then the clock ticked.

At least it wasn't like yesterday, but I went out to walk and did an errand that took longer than I expected it to be. That's why I couldn't follow the program. Like I said: it hasn't been a week for working out.

No Watch today. I'm actually staying up until it's Dead Sleep time.

It got BUSY. It started with lots of cleaning, cooking, failing to time blindness, and... well, let's just say that it was a very disorganized, but at the same time, productive day. Hey, I just finished my third writing session for the day with 23 minutes, which I wasn't expecting to do, but I did it. It ended up like crap, but I don't mind if most of it could remain unusable. The goal is just quantity over quality, and I'm doing it. I actually ended up writing a fun interaction that just showed how huge of a mistake I did by turning it into a bottle episode.

1813 words in 73 minutes, and 250 Burpees. Yeah, the Daily Dare really helped. And Rowdy as the WoD? That was a huge motivator. I may not do the Medieval Sleep tonight, but after the amount of victories that I had for today... I frankly don't care if I let one slip.

A few stats for the week. I think I'll be doing this more often because sharing the numbers encourages me.

I'll have to start by saying that it's true: we tend to overestimate the amount of work we can get done in a day, and we underestimate the amount of work we can get done in a week. All my writing sessions for the week totaled to a below 120 minutes daily. The longest one was actually last Sunday (in my BuJo I start my weeks on Sundays instead of Mondays because it allows me to plan my weeks and also take a break on Sundays, and planning doesn't require much time), with 86 minutes in total; however, it was also one of the two days in which I wrote the less: 1583 words. The actual day in which I wrote less was Friday, totaling 1519 words, but the total for the amount of minutes writing on Friday was 61 minutes. Now, due to the amount of pressure that a powercut added on Wednesday, especially with the fact that I didn't put anything that I've written in my phone so I had no idea how to carry on, I ended up doing 1853 words in 74 minutes; there was no Medieval Sleep that day. That was a bad day. However, Saturday (meaning yesterday) was a good day. I did get a total of 72 minutes, but I spread those minutes apart in chunks of 30 minutes, 20 minutes, and 20 minutes, and I wrote a total of 1813 words; 40 words less than on Wednesday. This is the interesting part: I worked in tiny chunks, and I pretty much did a lot more than Sunday.

By the end of last week, I reached 32837 words out of 50000 for NaNoWriMo, making it at 65,6% done. The total amount of writing done for last week was 11740 words, so nearly 12K, which is good, it's the amount that I like. 1500 times 7 is 10500, which should be my weekly output by going 1500 daily, though on a golden week (that is 2500 words daily) I'd do 17500 by the end of it. It was less than the 14K I wrote last week, yet it felt like I did a huge chunk of progress. Besides, last week I had more days in which I got to 2K words, but not this week. The closest I got was 1853 words. I'm not discouraged; I'm just noticing that just small things, tiny things on a day, can bulk up into one large piece of work by the end of the week. By posting this progress, and by checking this progress more often, I'm encouraging myself to keep it up.

This also gets me into Burpees territory. The total of Burpees for last week was 650, but I missed a day. This week, I got 720, with all 7 days. If I hadn't miss the day from last week, I may have gotten between 700 to 850, which is still within the parameters. Still, my minimum bar for success is 900, but getting close to it feels good. A perfect week can nail me 1050 Burpees if I do 150 daily. A great week would yield 1400, with 200 Burpees daily.

So yes, there's a small increase on the Burpee territory, especially since I added more Burpees yesterday, I think it's a better week.

As for the writing goes, after not going to bed early to do the Medieval Sleep, I got into the time of the Watch by staying up late, and got into the 34K mark already, with plans to write later today. I think I may reach to 45K by the end of the week instead of 40K, if not, I may finish NaNoWriMo this week. It shall be noted that I'm writing in English too, which means I'm writing slower than I do in my native tongue.

E: Typo.

A couple of things happened. On one hand, there was no D&D. Two party members were down: one was on call (he's a firefighter), and the other one got sick. I got a warning that one might be down for next Sunday, though by my calculations, the firefighter is actually free next Sunday, so I might go there regardless, if not to play, just to hang out.

So, I spent the day off. I worked on the previous "Watch," and put out 500 words during the day. I wanted to do more, but I just took the entire day off instead, which was good. I'm noticing that I'm also having fun watching the show that I'm currently rewatching. Is not because I didn't have fun before; I started watching it because I wanted to see the soap opera structure in action, but got hooked by it because I'm taking notes, and they evolved to the point in which I'm both playing cliché bingo, snarky comments, and assigning D&D classes and rolls to every character. I've never seen so many CHA Save fails in several dialogues, and sometimes the whole thing feels like a horny D&D session, and I say horny because it's a soap opera that has a lot of fanservice, enough to actually be considered an anime at this point. Then again, I didn't realize the entire process of taking notes was actually a lot more fun, especially adding comments, and I actually remember stuff that has happened like many episodes ago, and if not, then I can always refer to it. It's an interesting way to watch a series, and all I did it was to go beyond the cheesy acting and bad production to see the actual structure of intrigue it has.

I'm running two betrayal countdowns on it too. If you've watched Civvie 11's take on Daikatana or Condemned: Criminal Origins, you know what I mean. Seriously, I noticed that my notes are heavily influenced by him too, but with a more D&D approach.

I had to skip the Watch though. Staying up until midnight hurted my sleep, so when I woke up at midnight my brain couldn't compute. I don't know how I managed to go downstairs to grab a water and then go back upstairs without falling to oblivion, but I did it.

I'm at 69% now (nice). Speaking of, I also figured out a way to put out 2500 words daily: divide my sessions in 1500/1000. 1500 during the Watch, 1000 during the day, which is just two 20-minute writing sessions. I can do that. It's doable. I get more progress done through short writing sessions instead of long ones. The shorter the session, the more words get out. Writing is a marathon that can only progress through sprinting. It's a bloody HIIT session.

I paid the price. A Watch skipped meant less words written, and that meant a bit of a slowdown in my progress. Nevertheless, I got the job done. I wrote my daily 1500, though it felt like a drag. It was enjoyable though. Very experimental. It felt like I broke the rules of that project for a moment before returning to normal. It was... powerful. I wasn't expecting to write that. I kept following it through one specific way, and suddenly this scene comes with a huge tone shift that felt like a bullet train went from moving to a complete stop in less than a second. The neon flourished quite a lot in this session, and the scene is not done just yet.

On the other hand, the powercut today happened earlier than usual. I was going to put what I wrote on my phone, but that prevented me from it, so I didn't write during the powercut. It's fine though; I used that time to work on the library, write on my journal, and figure out some D&D stuff. I got the surprise of having a few books donated, one of them being Breaking Dawn. Honestly, I didn't deny it. I'm not a fan of the Twilight series as anyone else, but I'm just amazed that this got in. You can joke all you want about Fifty Shades of Grey coming in tomorrow, but we already have 21 eroticas available. Classic ones, actually good books written by authors that, among them, Marquis de Sade is there, because of course he is. Fifty Shades of Grey, quite ironically, will just be another shade among those 21. It can certainly draw attention, but... do I really need to say over here my actual thoughts about that book? Let alone the entire trilogy? I'll just say this: if everyday people use Fifty Shades of Grey as a way of measuring the lack of modesty one book could have, they really haven't read the tamest of those 21 books I'm mentioning. I read it, and I had to drop it, not because it was bad, but because it went from an actual good story to a complete stop that was an entire class of philosophy that meant completely nothing, didn't do anything to the plot, and could easily have been cut, but instead, trees got murdered to have that huge chunk of "yadda yadda yadda" in what could've been something good. I skipped that part, and the lukewarm ending did not surprising. I mean, how the hell do you pick a story back up after creating so much tension, and then pretty much overriding the recording of the film on its peak to put the most mind-numbingly boring class known to mankind? Seriously, it happened right on the climax of the story.

Anyway, Breaking Dawn is on the library. I also decided to dispose of a book that I thought quite a lot about it to dispos of it, but did it because it has some water damage that, even though it was old damage, it still somehow felt wet. I'm also thinking about rebooting my reading thing again and just have three books on my currently reading pile because... Yeah, reading one different book every day of the week? Is not working. I've been reading one single book in the times I decide to pick up reading, and by December I actually have a book that I'd like to read first.

Going back to the writing front, I calculated a minimum for the end product of my NaNo. It might be 85000 words, at least. It could be more, or it could be less, but I know for certain that I'll get to 85000 words, with careful outlining. I'm going the episodic route for this because it feels right, it allows me to put the main plot on hold easily, and I can handle all arcs better. Plus, if I need to make a quick change, I can do it with ease.

Last 54 pages, by the way. Last 54 pages, and NaNoWriMo ends.

It sucked. The day got really, really, really busy. My time got really squeezed to the extreme, until I couldn't do anything but breathe. Then, I was finally free to do stuff! I could finally work out, pay my debt with Cardio & Abs, do Burpees since there was going to be a lot of Burpees today and... and...

Yeah, a powercut started the moment I was finally free to do whatever I wanted. Right when I wanted to just work out, let some steam off, and sit down to carry on with my writing, the power went out. For four hours. And I didn't have what I wrote during the Watch on my phone!

I couldn't be more frustrated. I was going to write after working out, but now I was just powerless... but then I remember: I didn't actually ended things off in the middle of something during the Watch. No, I actually ended a scene and was going to start a brand new scene. After a quick read of what I did the day before, I grabbed my new notepad, went to the bakery, and sit down to write. This notepad, by the way? It allows me to push between 240 and 280 words per page; more words than my A5 notebook, which makes it more precise to estimate the amount of words I'm putting in to as well. I've used these type of notepads before for D&D since they are resistant enough to be reused, they are comfortable, and they just work. I have several of them for different purposes, like there's one on my desk to write quick notes whenever I need them, and one that I use as a portable way to keep track of my projects. The other ones that I have are for actual TTRPG purposes, like tracking stuff when I'm behind the screen, or playing an RPG solo. I just didn't considered using one to write, and I don't regret it. I put out 898 words in 63 minutes, and 1205 words during the Watch in just 50 minutes. Yes, writing by hand is slower, but I still got 2103 words in 113 minutes, which is great!

Now, there are 45 pages left of NaNoWriMo. The end is near, and I can't help it but really want to reach it. I did some calculations, and I might end up with a manuscript that's at least 85000 words long, but might end up between 100K and 150K. I don't want to go to 150K though, but I'm considering that since I deliberated that every chapter might be between 5000 and 7500 words long, though some parts will be merged considering the structure, and how these parts are very short after I wrote them. What I'm thinkng about is the language, because I'll be rebooting this. Looking for information about it, and asking about it yields... divided results. Being my own translator does help, but also gives me more work. I definitely write faster in Spanish, but I'm comfortable with writing in English, so it feels like I must juggle around those two. If I finish NaNo early, the words that I'll keep adding to it will be experimental, and I might do the same story twice in both languages, just to see which feels right. Besides, I need to do the experiment because I forgot to add something on narration, and I'll have to incorporate it to see if it works or not.

Cheers for your writing success today in spite of the power outage! That's a great pivot and great work!

Thank you, it was cool to do something without support for once throughout the month. Just doing my best to make history, one... and I'll finish this sentence right here because I'll go too far considering the genre in which I write.

I forced myself to spend 47 minutes and puke 1513 words out of my system because the day was almost over, and I didn't write a thing. I didn't care that whatever I wrote was bad, good, or anything, I just needed to get that out. See, after I got hit by a powercut, instead of writing, I just focused on finishing reading a book that I have pending, and now I only have 15 pages of it left. I could've gone through it today, but I read so much that the words melted on the page, so my eyes had to scramble all over them. It was worth it though. It left me with something that I put down on my freezer of ideas, and I'll let out at one point in the near future.

So yes, there was... "no" Burpees. Cardio & Abs had them today, and I could've done some extra 150 Burpees, but I didn't. Instead, I spend much of my workout waiting for the rain to clear out so that I could take a walk, which happened almost after the sun went down.

It was a challenging day, but I managed to survive it, even though it was just barely. Finally, I've reached 40K, and now I have 39 pages to go. It's the Watch, so I might tackle at least one or two. Whatever gets me moving forward, because right now I'd rather be sleeping, but I am pushing myself to finish this thing once and for all. Is not even the full story, but this bulk of work that I'll completely strip down, chip away, and send many of its pieces to the next part of it is finally almost done. Just one stage left, and I'll be done with the first part. The second and third part can wait until after NaNoWriMo, when I finally let the story explode and go beyond the scope of what I originally planned out to be.

Writing this first part was good. It allowed me to see the entire scope of it, and now I have an entire episodic structure on how I can distribute the story, with some minimums and maximums of content I must fill in each chapter. If it sounds too mathematical, well, that's because I'm seeing it more like writing a TV show, because I understand it better like that. I can't help but enjoy rigid structures. They help me to see the entire scope, and if I must change or destroy the structure, then I'll do it on the go. Rulings not rules, as the saying for GMs go.
