I was full of plans to clean the house today, in preparation for my partner coming over for the first time. Instead I decided to cook and I made tomato sauce from the garden tomatoes I had frozen during summer, the seitan for new year's eve, and the black beans also for new year's eve. Ah well, the house is not *that* dirty...

Then I had a fight with the chrome tablet but now I'm ready for the Hive meeting later! Yay!

Have a lovely evening Bees!

@Maegaranthelas @NancyTree thank you!!

An excellent start in the year! At midnight we went outside to look at the fireworks, but there was so much fog that we only saw the ones fired 50 meters away. So after finishing the prosecco my partner and I went to sleep and had an excellent snooze.
This morning we had breakfast all together, and then took a walk in the beautiful sunshine, read on the couch, ate leftovers, shared a bottle of wine. Nice!

Before breakfast

@Mamatigerj @CODawn @NightWolf714 thanks!

A good day 2!
We slept extra long, did sports, had breakfast, and then my partner left. I decided to start my sewing but my room of requirement was a mess so I cleaned and organized everything and now it's much better. I started the sewing by reading the instructions, opening the paper, and realizing I don't have enough tracing paper. So I ordered it and I'll continue tomorrow.

Oh I also made progress with my 2024 (not a typo) resolution! As in, I actually started it! Just one year late! Go bunny! :LOL:

@TopNotch indeed!
Today more progress was made both with last year's resolution and with sewing. All pieces of the shirt are cut, I just taped together smaller pieces of tracing paper until I had a large enough area. I knew that saving all the leftovers would be useful one day!

A friend came to visit tonight and we went out for pizza. Sadly it was not a good pizza and now I feel I have wasted the enjoyment of dinner :D

I may have saved a punch of packaging paper from when I bought little glass jars and bottles.
And then ironed them and neatly folded them.
And now tape them together with paper packaging tape when I need to make pattern pieces :chuckle:
Oh that's a smart idea!

@Maegaranthelas that is a smart idea indeed!

The shirt is finished and I only had to unpick one sleeve once. Which was bad enough, unpicking a zig zag stitch white on white is a test of my patience (and eyesight).

My partner's apartment is being flooded by a water leak from upstairs. Nobody has a solution other than asking him to soak up the water every three-four hours. Apparently no repairs can be done until Tuesday at the earliest and more likely, if the broken piece needs to be manufactured, not for weeks. This is absurd and surreal. Their alternative is for him to let it flood, damage the apartment downstairs, and require a full renovation of his. Seriously??!?!?

Have a wonderful evening Bees!

No repairs until Tuesday for a plumbing problem so bad it is flooding the apartment beneath? And I thought landlords here were bad!
Nobody has a solution other than asking him to soak up the water every three-four hours.
Uh... how about turning off the water. And then making phone calls until they find a plumber who will actually come around today. Sheesh!

I'm sorry your partner is having to deal with that. (Is he supposed to not sleep? Not go to work? WTF?)

Yeah that is absolutely bizarre! That is obviously not a manageable solution.
Sounds like it's time to keep bothering the landlord :')

And only having to unpick one sleeve once is a total sewing victory. Those things are called Sleevils for a reason!

It is totally bizarre. The landlord is actually helpful, but they only own my partner's apartment and can't do anything about the rest. The whole building is managed by a facility management company, and the representative is not willing to turn off the water for at least 20 apartments to solve it. Despite the tenants being willing to go without water rather than having water damage themselves. Totally bizarre.

Apart from this, my day has been good, now playing DnD (I'm just flying around while the rest is on a side quest).

One shut off valve for 20 apartments? Good grief! That is just an absurdly bad design.
And it sounds like a condominium building. In which case the management company works for the owners of the units and one would think the condo association would fire them if they allow water damage to occur because they're not willing to do their jobs properly!

@Laura Rainbow Dragon yes, a bad design. But as there are about 400 apartments in the building, it's tough to make the right decision. Luckily today they turned off the water. Unfortunately, this has made no difference in the amount flowing into his bathroom. Plus now it's dripping from the ceiling in the living room. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

@NightWolf714 I'm a druid and I was in wild shape for a bit :ss:

A good day overall, despite the water issues. We went for a walk and had a nice salad. Tomorrow back to work.

Turning off the water when there's a leak so bad it's flooding an apartment on another level is a no-brainer. Not a tough decision at all.
The fact that there's still water flowing into your partner's unit even with the water turned off is bad. (And evidence that the property management company f-ed up royally in refusing to turn the water off immediately. They should be fired for gross incompetence.)
I hope all the damage can be fixed without your partner (or anyone else) needing to move out of their home(s).

@Laura Rainbow Dragon agreed fully!
The leak has been fixed! It was "just" a matter of breaking into the wall and exchanging the rotten pipe. Of course he'll need to get a new bathroom, but the landlord will pay for it. Let's just hope the rent won't increase too much.

Yesterday I didn't post because we went to the opera! The Magic Flute, it was very nice (even though the Queen of the Night missed the high note. It's a tough aria).
Today was a normal day and my partner made us a very tasty dinner.

Both days before breakfast

A normal day at work, then I came home in the evening. It's rather warm for January (10 degrees+) but there's a wind and rain storm going on that made the light flicker. Uuhhuu!

I love the idea of casters, but tend to avoid them because strategy is hard, haha. Though I was recently in a pathfinder game where I played a psychic. That was fun! She was an adorable puppy of a gnoll, haha. I'm in a current DnD campaign using the pathfinder system playing a swashbuckler. Lots of tumbling and stabbing. He's a fun character because he's arrogant as anything and thinks he should be a king at some point despite being kicked out of whatever royal court his people came from because he's got a temper and is an idiot. XD I tend to really enjoy the RP aspects of TTRPGS.

A good day! We removed all the grass, weeds, and random trees that had sprung around the crane, so we could take pictures of it to sell it; we finished building up the scaffolding, and took down the weird insulation plates and concrete and tiles that were still on the wall from when we teared down the old house. That s*** is heavy and non recyclable and there was styrofoam behind it all and it was such a mess. But we're done!
