Universal Warmup done,
Node 31 of The Labyrinth done (3 sets),
Day 1 of Punch Up! done,
Day 9 of 30 Days of Yoga done (Today's meditation music was A Man Without Love by Englebert Humperdinck), Sore Feet done, Wrist Pain done.
I think that worked well as a divide, the morning workout was short enough that I didn't have to rush, while there wasn't too much left to do in the afternoon.
And now I've had a full day of volunteering and talking to Work Coaches the evening is my own.
Might have to be out earlier than usual for volunteering tomorrow, people keep getting icky (There's been a bit of a Covid outbreak but it's impossible to get anyone to take it seriously anymore), so I'll get to try my split workout plan again, see y'all tomorrow!
The next room was on the larger side, with a glowing orb set high up on the far wall. Valeria watched as a metal rod quickly extended out of the floor and was struck by a discharge of lightning from the orb.
While the air filled with the scent of scorched metal, the rod retracted back to the floor, and the now dimmed orb began to regain its brightness. With a fairly good idea of what she needed to do, Valeria watched a couple more lightning strikes before a rod she deemed close enough rose up, she raced over, crouched low and closed her eyes. Up close the noise and brightness were intense, but she was unharmed, she waited for the next rod to rise and did the whole routine again.
Four lightning strikes later, the orb finally went dark and a pair of exit doors opened, it was time to choose a direction.
Unfortunately, I too caught the ickiness, I've spent most of the last couple of days asleep (And yet somehow I'm still tired!), don't feel too bad today though, so I'm going to try some exercising:-
Universal Warmup done, 5+ (Knee) Push-Ups (EotD) done (I did 10), Becoming Legendary (WotD) attempted (2 sets. With Step Jacks and very slow Burpees),
Node 36 of The Labyrinth done (3 sets. With March Steps 200 Butt Kicks remaining),
Day 2 of Punch Up! done (These 2 minutes non-stop days are going to remain tough aren't they?),
Day 10 of 30 Days of Yoga done, Ankle Recovery done, Hand Tendons done.
Visiting the Housemate today (I shouldn't be too contagious, I haven't been coughing or sneezing just feeling extremely run down), hopefully she's a bit happier.
See y'all tomorrow!
The next room was oddly shaped, being narrow but extremely high, the opposite wall was covered in a series of ladders and ledges that led to an exit that was at least a good 100 feet above Valeria.
As she entered the room, a metal panel slid down, blocking off the way back and a pungent, chemical smell filled the air. A green liquid began to ooze up through grates on the floor and made the soles of her boots smoke, an acid trap. She leapt on to the first ladder and began to climb furiously.
Making her way on to the first ledge, she looked down to see that the acid was already over halfway to her, with time not on her side she shimmied along the ledge as fast as she dared and swung herself on to the next ladder, all she could do was go up as quickly as she could.
Limbs aching and lungs burning, Valeria hauled herself up the final rungs and crawled through the exit. She crouched, needing a rest but also ready to run if the acid kept coming, but a quick peek over the edge revealed that it was already draining away. With the risk gone she slumped against the wall, a break was needed before tackling the next obstacle.
Badly overslept today, I really need to get out of the habit of getting up when I feel like it or I lose too much of the day. Just doing a little bit of exercising before I go grocery shopping:-
Universal Warmup done, Willow (WotD) done (But only 30 seconds a pose and that was still really tough on my arms),
Node 37 of The Labyrinth done (3 sets),
Day 3 of Punch Up! done, Sore Feet done, Hand Mobility done.
Housemate wasn't in much of a visiting mood yesterday, she's gone back to pretending to be asleep until I go away, hopefully she'll be a bit happier when I visit tomorrow (It's her birthday).
It's a chore heavy day today, I'll see y'all tomorrow!
The corridor ended in a narrow chute, Valeria peered in, the stonework was damp and covered in patches of luminescent moss, but it wasn't particularly steep, at least the portion she could see wasn't.
Clambering in feet first, she used her hands and feet to push herself down the slope, it was slow going but not particularly difficult, until a sudden, sharp decline caused her to slip and she began to slide uncontrollably. Taking a deep breath to calm herself, Valeria brought her knees up and braced her feet against the roof of the chute, it took a while for her boots to find any purchase, but eventually her decent slowed and finally stopped.
She continued her passage down the chute with short, controlled slides. Finally she hit something, giving it a good kick revealed it was a small hatchway, that opened and deposited Valeria in a heap in the room beyond.
Universal Warmup done, 20 Squat Hops On The Spot (EotD) done (Mine were more like Calf Raises), Rookie (WotD) done (3 sets),
Node 38 of The Labyrinth done (3 sets, Couldn't manage a full set of Plank Arm Raises on the final set, just too much for the old wrists forgot the Butt Kicks again, 140 owed),
Day 4 of Punch Up! done,
Day 11 of 30 Days Of Yoga done (Poses 3 and 11 were non-starters but I did okay with the others), Happy Feet done, Talk To The Hand done.
Busy day today. I've got a surprise job interview in a couple hours (The first of three this week! ), then across down to the hospital to wish the Housemate a happy birthday and attend her case review, and then back across town for my Monday Volunteering.
It's also the first day of a very busy week , see y'all tomorrow!
Valeria stood up and brushed herself down, she was back in one of the Labyrinths typical square rooms, although this one had a giant set of scales in the middle.
She went over to have a closer look, all the weights were piled up on one side, leaving the scales horribly unbalanced. With a fairly good idea of what she must do, she heaved the first weight off, it was heavy and unhelpfully blank, this was going to take a lot of trial and error plus heavy lifting, she continued to remove the weights until she had an empty scale to try and balance.
After much shuffling back and forth and frustrating "Not quite's", Valeria hefted the last weight in place. With the scale finally balanced, a section of the wall opened up, but Valeria needed a rest, with arm muscles burning and her whole upper-body aching, she sat down against the wall near the exit, she didn't even notice when she fell asleep.
Universal Warmup done, 30 Seconds One Armed Plank (EotD) attempted (I got close but couldn't quite manage 30 seconds an arm), Standing Back (WotD) done (3 sets).
And this afternoon I did:-
Universal Warmup done,
Node 39 of The Labyrinth done (Had to give my arms a few rest breaks over the 4 minutes, 40 Butts Kicks owed),
Day 5 of Punch Up! done,
Day 12 of 30 Days of Yoga done (Today's mediation music, Feeling by Acid Flavor (The opening to an anime I absolutely do not remember watching called Earl and Fairy) and Sailor Stars (The opening theme to the final season of the absolute classic that is Sailor Moon)), Footwork done, Keyboard Warrior done.
Yesterday went well, the Housemate was happy and liked her chocolates (The staff on her ward also gave her a card and a present, which I thought was really nice of them and very unexpected!).
Although the discussion with her Social Worker didn't go as well Because she isn't currently anywhere near as violent and aggressive as she was in the Care Home, they don't know where to put her. Their main plan was apparently to ask me to be her carer again, because they didn't realise I'd moved.
Another interview tomorrow (This time it's in a supermarket) and more volunteering, see y'all next time!
Valeria awoke. It took her a few moments to realise where she was, then she got unsteadily to her feet and stretched, at least she felt better even though she was still stuck in this stupid labyrinth.
She walked into the next room, it was a plain square like most of the others apart from a large ornate door on the far side. With no other apparent options Valeria made her way towards the door when the torches suddenly extinguished, plunging the room into complete darkness. "Don't move." whispered a voice directly into her ear "Stand completely still." Wierd noises started up around her, moans, whimpering, the sounds of blades drawn across stone and the dull, wet thud of meat being hacked apart. The room felt alive with presence, but Valeria stood motionless, focusing on her breathing in an attempt to ignore the unseen horrors that were brushing past and even crawling all over her.
After what felt like an eternity, the torches burst back into life, re-illuminating a completely empty room. Once her heart stopped racing, Valeria finished her journey to the large door, it was firmly locked. Spying a keyhole, she realised if she wanted to go any further she would need to find a key, but was there a route back?
Temp jobs can be very useful. Valuable experience, potentially useful contacts, opportunity to get great references, and look way better on a resume than blank space! Oh, and the income bit can be helpful too.
Thanks @GentleOx @TopNotch - At the moment I basically just want any sort of job, so the Job Centre leaves me alone and stops giving me pointless busywork (They're sending me on a confidence building course tomorrow).
I did a little bit of exercise yesterday. It was going to be another split workout day, but while I was volunteering I got a call from the hospital asking if I could visit the Housemate because she was feeling very low, which I did, and, of course, by the time I got home I was just way too tired and hungry to finish the rest of my workout.
So yesterday I did:-
Universal Warmup done, 10 Scorpion Twists (EotD) done, Workout of the Day done (I absolutely cannot remember which one it was or what I did!),
Today I've done:-
Universal Warmup done, 20 Side-to-side Lunges with Toe Points (EotD) done, What Doesn't Kill You (WotD) done (3 sets, all March Steps),
Node 32 of The Labyrinth done (3 sets, completely forgot about Butt Kicks again, so I owe 300),
Day 6 of Punch Up! done,
Day 13 of 30 Days of Yoga done (Wasn't bendy enough for position 8, but did okay with the others), Ankle Recovery done, Wrist Mobility done.
It was a draining day yesterday. The interview didn't go as well as I'd hoped, the lady seemed surprised that I didn't have lots of questions for her (I asked two which was already more than usual for me), plus all the induction day training would be done via smartphone (She said they could sort something out for me, but I think the easiest solution is to just not employ me in the first place!).
Plus the hospital has been upsetting the Housemate, so I had to travel up there to try my best at calming her down (They're trying to get her engaged with working out where she is going to live, but the only options she will consider are either moving in with me or being homeless. No idea what's going to happen on that front).
Today should go better though. I've got my final interview of the week (This one is to be a Casual Catering Assistant in a Care Home, which is a field I would like to work in) and it's in a nearby town, so I have to catch a train (I've never been on one before), see y'all tomorrow!
Valeria pondered her options. There was no way forward at the moment, going back would involve climbing back up that chute and she had no idea if that was even possible, or she could wait until someone came to let her out. But was that even an option? She didn't know how many hours she had already spent in this place, or how many more she would have to wait and she had very little of her small stock of food and water left. And would she even be rescued? She couldn't imagine the Guild being that cruel, but this Labyrinth of theirs had already turned out to be much more dangerous than she had been told, perhaps many a candidate had simply taken a wrong turn and died a slow death of hunger and thirst?
Valeria decided even if she had already failed and would never leave this place, she wouldn't go down without a fight, she turned around and headed back into the Labyrinth.
The scales in the previous room remained perfectly balanced, but the hatchway that had unceremoniously dumped her into this room was gone, replaced by a seemingly normal-looking exit into a corridor beyond. With no other choice she headed down it, there were no traps or puzzles, just a regular stonework passageway that terminated in a tall, narrow room, the chemical smell that lingered in the air made its identity obvious, she was back in the Acid Trap room. It seemed the Labyrinth designers had taken into account the need for retracing one's path, perhaps she would get out of here after all.
The Acid Trap didn't spring again and the lightning generator was still powered down in the next room. Her rather soggy map showed that the passage on the right should lead to unexplored areas, so she went that way.
The next room had been split by a wide chasm, with just a narrow beam crossing the gap, a yoke attached to a pair of liquid-filled pails was set on plinths in front of her, spying a matching pair of plinths on the other side gave her a good idea of what to do. Valeria bent low, got the yoke settled across her shoulders as comfortably as she could, and lifted the buckets. They weren't as heavy as she feared, but the liquid inside seemed to sloosh about with surprising force, she would need to move very carefully or she would easily lose her balance. She placed one foot on the beam and began to bring her other one around when the buckets began to tip alarmingly, Valeria righted herself, waited for the buckets to calm down and started again, this was going to take a while.
Finally Valeria set the pails down on the other plinths, there was a satisfying click and a section of wall opened up ahead.
Once upon a time, when I was on benefits, I was actually offered a job by our unemployment mob. I really didn't want it, hated the idea (customer service? Me?) and was so absolutely casual and relaxed in the interview that they offered me the position the next week! And, of course, in my position and its being them, I had to take it. Thank goodness I was offered a better job a few months later.
@TopNotch - They do say that's one of the reasons why it's so much easier to find a job when you already have one, you can go into interviews really relaxed and chill, I guess an aura of rabid desperation puts employers off!
Very tired this morning, my brain filled my head with worries so I was awake from about 2:30am until just before 7am, when I finally managed to catch another couple hours of sleep, so just doing the real basics this morning:-
At least most of yesterday went well, I think I did good in my interview and train travel was a lot easier to sort out than I thought it would be (Gotta remember next time to not sit in a backwards facing seat, I got so dizzy standing up that I fell in to person sitting across the aisle from me! ).
Really wish I didn't have to go on that stupid course today, at least it's only for an afternoon, see y'all tomorrow!
Had a decent night's sleep so I'm not too tired this morning, going to try for a full workout:-
Universal Warmup done, 30 Squat Hold Calf Raises (EotD) done, Savage Core (WotD) attempted (2 sets, so tough!),
Node 33 of The Labyrinth done (3 sets),
Day 7 of Punch Up! done,
Day 14 of 30 Days of Yoga done (Struggled to hold a couple poses, but mostly did okay), Sore Feet done, Wrist Pain done.
Plus an extra 300 Punches for Haunted Hive.
Yesterday went quite well in the end. Unsurprisingly, I didn't get the job I thought I interviewed badly in (Apparently I lacked enthusiasm for the role and I need to work on my communication skills), but I might have that Kitchen Assistant role (I'm waiting for the onboarding lady to give me a start date before I count it as official) which will be really good if it pans out!
Plus that confidence building course turned out to not be a complete waste of time, the guy had some good advice.
Today might be a Housemate visit day (I'm going to take the hospitals advice and phone before I leave to see if she's in a mood for visitors), or it might be a hobby day, we will have to see.
See y'all tomorrow!
The next room Valeria found extremely creepy and gross, every surface, even the floor, was covered in giant staring eyes. Despite finding it hard to concentrate under their unblinking gaze, Valeria tried to work out how to get across this one. Blinking, that was the key, the eyes didn't stay open forever, random ones would close for a few seconds giving her a brief, slightly less squishy, stepping stone.
The thought of standing on even closed eyes made her skin crawl, but Valeria didn't even want to contemplate what cursed fate that would befall her if she stood on an open one. She waited for an opportunity and stepped lightly on the nearest closed eye, it made for a very unstable foot hold and she hated the way she sunk slightly into it, looking around quickly she spotted the next one and took another step.
With one final hop she cleared the room, hopefully that was not one she would have to cross again.
Thanks! @NightWolf714 - I'm hoping I'll hear something about it today!
Missed yesterday, it was supposed to be another split day, but it was too danged cold first thing in the morning, so I was going to do a bit later on but it was still too danged cold!
Finally accepted that I need to turn the heating on, so I'm all good to go this morning:-
Universal Warmup done, 40 Side-to-Side Chops (EotD) done, Set To Stun (WotD) done (3 sets),
Node 34 of The Labyrinth done (3 sets),
Day 8 of Punch Up! done,
Day 15 of 30 Days of Yoga done (No music this time, it was a bit too early), Happy Feet done, Stapler done.
Plus 150 Side Kicks for Haunted Hive.
I found today's workout really tough, I think all that leftover cake that the ladies I volunteer with keep giving me is catching up with me!
I had a pretty lazy yesterday, just some morning volunteering and then catching up with my shows (I'm finding the current season of anime quite poor overall and dropped a couple more shows, it really hurt to drop One Punch Man because I'd been looking forward to a new season for ages, but it is just really bad!).
It's going to be a lazy day again today, got to wait in for some workmen, plus no Monday or Wednesday volunteering this week. Hopefully I'll find something constructive to do with my time and not just waste it all on social media.
See y'all tomorrow!
The next room was empty except for an ornate throne sitting on a raised platform in its centre, as soon as Valeria stepped inside the urge for her to sit upon the throne became almost overwhelming, but she had already guessed that would be this rooms test and had steeled herself against the temptation. Head held high, she marched past the throne and headed for the exit, but before she could leave, she was held fast by an invisible force. She lent against it and really pushing with her legs tried to continue walking forwards, but it was no good she was being dragged, slowly but surely back across the room.
One of her feet slipped and she fell, the force greedily yanked on her and Valeria tumbled across the floor until she slammed into the platform, despite the knock she managed to grab hold of the edge and braced her legs against the base of the throne, the force became more urgent and lifted her into the air, but Valeria held firm and finally the force admitted defeat and let her go, she flopped to the floor.
Valeria stood up and hurried out of the room before whatever was in there changed its mind.
Universal Warmup done, 30 Seconds Toe Tap Hops (EotD) done, S-Rank (Replacement WotD) done (3 sets with Knee Push-Ups),
Node 35 of The Labyrinth done (3 sets),
Day 9 of Punch Up! done,
Day 16 of 30 Days of Yoga done, Footwork done, Hand Tendons done.
A quiet day today, just going to visit the Housemate later on (She's doing really well in hospital) and then Hat Yai Garlic Fried Chicken for dinner.
See y'all tomorrow!
The next room was suspiciously empty, the only distinguishing feature being that the other two exits were covered in a tangle of iron bars. Valeria cautiously entered the room, on the alert for anything strange happening, that's why, when her next step caused the floor tile to sink in with a click, she instantly leapt backwards. But nothing happened, no spikes, or darts, or streams of face-melting liquid were launched in her direction, there was just a high-pitched grinding sound as a metal rod from each exit-way retracted noisily into the wall.
So that was this room's deal, a treasure hunt. Valeria prodded all the floor tiles around her, some locked into place with just a step, others required a lot more brute force to be applied, but fortunately the labyrinth designers had been kind enough not to install any false tiles that did actually set off traps. Eventually both exits were fully uncovered, one had an ornate locked door that matched the one she had previously found, so her only option was the other exit.
Universal Warmup done, 30 Seconds Raised Leg Plank Hold (EotD) done (Surprised myself by not needing a break on this one), Candy Crusher (WotD) done (3 sets with minimal jumping),
Node 30 of The Labyrinth done (3 sets, I'm all caught up with the Butt Kicks too),
Day 10 of Punch Up! done,
Day 17 of 30 Days of Yoga done, Ankle Recovery done, Hand Mobility done.
Sadly, it looks like that job may have fallen through because I don't have the right references. I have emailed them to see if they will make an exception because it is a very low level role, but I don't think they will.
So back to job hunting, I do have something to go to later today about doing casual catering work at the local football stadium. I was looking forward to it, but I don't really see the point of going now.
I'm doing better than I was yesterday, I was feeling quite low and defeated, but the world doesn't seem quite so bad today.
Doing a bit of afternoon exercise, because I've already been out early doing stuff:-
Universal Warmup done, 40 Hooks (EotD) done, Team Zombie (WotD) done (3 sets. Surprisingly tough on the old arms for a level 1 workout),
Node 25 of The Labyrinth done (3 sets),
Day 11 of Punch Up! done,
Day 18 of 30 Days of Yoga done, Sore Feet done, Talk To The Hand done.
Yesterday went okay in the end.
I still haven't heard back from that job yet, but I think if they weren't at least still considering me they would've already replied with a no, so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed on that one. And I got out of my funk long enough to go to that job thing at the football ground, I had a good interview and got all signed up, so I may have two jobs in the end, just got to wait and see.
Going to have a quiet rest of the day, watch the rain for a bit and make Enchiladas Suizas for dinner, see y'all tomorrow!
The next room wasn't a room at all, but a spacious walled garden with a large fountain in the middle. Valeria was far too paranoid by this point to accept the garden at face value and cautiously explored, glaring suspiciously at the flowering vines that adorned the walls, just daring them to come alive and attack her. As the minutes went by with nothing happening, she was forced to accept that this place really was what it appeared to be, a safe haven where wannabe adventurers could relax for a while before continuing with their exploration.
She sat down on the edge of the fountain and breathed deeply, the fresh air and warm sunshine were a welcome treat after being stuck inside the rest of the labyrinth for who knows how long. Still slightly suspicious, she tested the fountain waters with a pinch of Aquapowder, when the colour didn't change, she drank deeply and took the opportunity to refill her canteen.
Reluctantly, she realised it was time to move on, helping herself to a few berries from one of the bushes, she headed back into the labyrinth.
The corridor to the next room seemed rather long but showed no signs of unusualness, so while still keeping on alert, Valeria headed down it.
It didn't take long before she realised something was wrong, no matter how fast she moved the end of the corridor seemed to actually be getting further away. Turning around, the way she had come now stretched off far into the distance, she knew she was being tricked, but she didn't know how. Turning back, she closed her eyes and slowly walked forward, hoping she wasn't about to step off the edge into oblivion.
It took mere moments before her outstretched hands touched something wooden, she opened her eyes, it was a door. Looking back she could still see into the walled garden roughly twenty feet away. Valeria sighed and opened the door into the next room.
Universal Warmup done, 30 Reverse Lunges (EotD) done, Chapter One (WotD) done (3 sets),
Node 24 of The Labyrinth done (3 sets),
Day 12 of Punch Up! done,
Day 19 of 30 Days of Yoga done, Happy Feet done, Keyboard Warrior done.
I'm all Lunged out at the moment!
Going to be a quiet day again today. I've got to wait in for a parcel, and if it's not too late in the day when it arrives visit the Housemate (She wasn't in a very good mood on Wednesday, as I thought they're having a hard time finding her a new home, no one wants their windows smashed in!).
See y'all tomorrow!
As soon as Valeria pulled open the door to the next room, sand poured out and began piling up around her legs, the whole room was one large sand dune. She waded into the fine grained substance, progress was difficult as she sunk up to her knees with every step, but not impossible, and she was soon on the other side.
Hopefully the next room was a little more interesting.
Universal Warmup done, 30 Crunch Kicks (EotD) done, Maverick (WotD) attempted (I managed 2 sets, so tough!),
Node 20 of The Labyrinth done,
Day 13 of Punch Up! done,
Day 20 of 30 Days of Yoga attempted (I did something to one of my ankles doing pose 2, so I decided to skip this one today), Wrist Mobility done.
Didn't manage to get out yesterday. The items I ordered were not only put in two separate boxes but on two separate vans! It wasn't until gone 7pm that I received everything, so yesterday involved a lot of waiting around and watching TV (Both It: Welcome to Derry and the new season of Fionna and Cake are off to good starts).
That makes today a Housemate visiting day (And, of course, it's raining!), see y'all tomorrow!
The next room looked familiar, Valeria was back in the Bell Room. But the puzzle remained solved and the exits remained open, so it was just a case of working out where to go from here. She had a look at her map, there was one path from here that she hadn't been down yet, so she headed that way.
The room was on the small side and was dominated by a statue of a very tall, very toned and very naked woman set against the far wall. There was a grinding noise, the statue's head had turned to face Valeria, "Follow my example!" it intoned loudly, Valeria was desperately hoping this didn't involve getting naked too when there was more grinding, the statue had struck a pose. Feeling very silly Valeria followed along, maintaining the stance for several moments before more grinding indicated that the statue had changed position, she did too, and again when the statue moved a third time. Finally the statue simply nodded, returned to its original pose and became lifeless stone again.
A section of the wall opened up and Valeria entered, but the new corridor ended abruptly just a few feet in, she ran her hands over the roughly hewn stone looking for a secret latch or button that would open up the way forward, but no, this section was simply unfinished for whatever reason. "Damn".
Universal Warmup done, 40 Reverse Angels (EotD) done, Frost (WotD) done (3 sets),
Node 9 of The Labyrinth done (3 sets plus 200 Butt Kicks),
Day 14 of Punch Up! done,
Day 21 of 30 Days of Yoga done, Ankle Recovery done, Wrist Pain done.
I don't have much to do until volunteering this evening (Everything has started up again so it's a full week this week), so I will see y'all tomorrow!
Valeria walked back to the Bell Room and consulted her map again. She had already explored a big chunk of this place, but there were a few paths she hadn't taken yet, all she could do was head for the nearest and hope she would finally find this blasted key.
From the Bell Room she went back up the stairs, luckily there was no wind this time, hurried through the Mirror Room (Mirror Valeria was still sullenly watching her from the fragments) and into the Shrine. The various exits were still open, there was no need to make a second offering, her map said she hadn't gone right yet, so that was the exit she picked.
The corridor started off normally, but towards the end it became increasingly infested with spiders and their webs, she drew her sword and sliced an opening into the room beyond. it too was crawling with spiders and festooned with webs, a large one spanned the room a couple of feet above her head, its threads as thick as rope. Valeria got a bad feeling that she would have to defeat its maker to pass through this room, sure enough, the threads began to vibrate and out of a hole in the ceiling emerged a giant spider.
Staying on the web, just out of her reach, the spider kept lashing out with thick, hairy legs trying to knock Valeria over, but she deftly parried each strike with her sword. The spider tried a different approach, it spun around and shot webbing at Valeria successfully pinning her feet to the ground, in return she thrust her sword upwards and landed a blow on the spiders abdomen. Hissing, the spider decided ensnaring Valeria was more trouble than it was worth and retreated back into its hole. Valeria pulled her legs free and hurried out of the room before it returned.
Missed yesterday, I realised I was going to get home too late to feel like doing even a little bit of exercise, I'm going to make Tuesdays optional for a while rather than worry about it.
Back at it today though:-
Universal Warmup done, 30 Balance Front Kicks (EotD) done (My balance was good today), Sorrengail (WotD) done (3 sets),
Node 10 of The Labyrinth done (3 sets),
Day 15 of Punch Up! done,
Day 22 of 30 Days of Yoga done, Sore Feet done, Stapler done.
Yesterday went okay.
Volunteering was slow (Not sure how long they're going to give it before excepting that it's not really working), Housemate was in a good mood for her visit though and I'm all signed up to work at the football stadium (It's only a casual job for when they expect to be extra busy, so I don't know how often I will actually work there, but it's a step in the right direction).
Today is more volunteering, but at least I'll be busy!
See y'all tomorrow!
The next room was smaller and in the centre, atop a stone pedestal, was an enormous eyeball floating inside a glass dome. It fixed its gaze on Valeria and tracked her as she crossed the room.
Suddenly, visions filled Valeria's mind, countless ways she would meet a gruesome fate:- Hacked to pieces by armoured strangers, eaten alive by ravenous beasts, shambling and rotting now part of the undead horde that had overwhelmed her, it went on and on, until there was one final vision. An old, grey-haired Valeria, one that had long given up her silly notions of being an adventurer, now happily doting on her grandchildren after a long life as a wife and mother.
Valeria's mind cleared and she found herself on her hands and knees breathing heavily, she sat down and brushed her hair out of her face, at least that creepy eyeball was gone now. She rested until her breathing slowed down, although her memories of what she had seen were fading fast, she was still full of doubt, were they really her only two options? Die a miserable death or give up and settle for a normal life?
Thanks! @graoumia@agc - Plus that other casual job I thought had fallen through has finally got back in touch, and they're happy to settle for the references I have, so that's moved a step closer to being a thing too.
Exercise time:-
Universal Warmup done, 20 Plank Rotations (EotD) done, That Workout I Promised (WotD) done (3 sets),
Node 15 of The Labyrinth done (3 sets),
Day 16 of Punch Up! done,
Day 23 of 30 Days of Yoga done (Still can't do any poses that require me to grab my own feet!), Happy Feet done, Hand Tendons done.
Waiting to see if I'm going to have a busy day or not, I probably will, see y'all tomorrow!
Valeria got up and headed for one of the rooms exits, but after a while the corridor ended in another blank, unfinished stone wall, possibly the other side of the one she had encountered earlier.
Panic welled up from deep within, what if she had failed some earlier test without realising? Was she searching for a key she could now never find? She pounded on the dead end with her fists, then began scrabbling on the stonework as if attempting to dig her way out, before finally slumping against the wall sobbing heavily, she slid down to floor and curled into a ball still crying.
Eventually the sobbing stopped and Valeria unfurled herself and wiped her face, she was surprised and extremely embarrassed that the previous room had rattled her that much. She knew first hand the dangers of her profession and that death was always a possibility, so what had upset her so much, was it that she had been alone before she'd died in every vision?
Valeria didn't like the idea, she had tried the whole adventuring party thing before, it always ended badly and she had the scars to prove it. She stood up, she could think about it later once she was out of this place and away from its mind games.
She turned around heading out of the dead end, back to the Eyeball Room (Fortunately still lacking an eyeball) and took the other exit.
Plus that other casual job I thought had fallen through has finally got back in touch, and they're happy to settle for the references I have, so that's moved a step closer to being a thing too.
Had a bit of extra sleep this morning since it's going to be a quiet day:-
Universal Warmup done, 60 Seconds Shoulder Taps (EotD) done, Limitless (WotD) done,
Node 5 of The Labyrinth done (3 sets),
Day 17 of Punch Up! done,
Day 24 of 30 Days of Yoga done (Must admit I didn't do the whole 15 minutes of meditation, even listening to music that's a very long time to just sit there), Footwork done, Hand Mobility done.
I did end up having a busy day yesterday, had to take some documents in for a background check so another train trip (I remembered to face the direction of travel this time, so no getting dizzy!) and then evening volunteering.
Since I don't have to go anywhere today, I'm going to take it easy, do some of my hobbies and I've got Tenet to watch later, see y'all tomorrow!
The next room had no floor, instead there were platforms at various heights floating over a seemingly bottomless void. Valeria cautiously stepped on the first one, it dipped slightly but nonetheless continued floating, she took a step on to the next one, it seemed fine at first but then began to shake wildly as if attempting to throw her off. Valeria dropped down and grabbed the platform's edges until it calmed down again, then she stood and jumped up to the next, this one remained steady, but the one after wobbled briefly but plummeting into the depths, she just managed to throw herself on to a nearby platform in time. There seemed to be no way of telling which platforms were safe and which weren't, they all looked identical to Valeria, she would just have to be very careful.
Slowly she made her way from platform to platform until, with one final step, she had cleared the room and moved on to the next.
Forgot to update yesterday, I did a little bit in the morning and never got around to doing any more!
I did:-
Universal Warmup done, 60 Seconds Tree Pose Hold (EotD) done, Not Perfect (WotD) done (3 sets).
Feeling a bit blergh this morning (I treated myself to some McDonalds for dinner yesterday and I've felt blergh ever since), but I'll try and get everything done:-
Universal Warmup done, 60 Seconds Side Plank Hold (EotD) attempted (I think I managed about 15 seconds a side), Burrito Mode (WotD) done,
Node 4 of The Labyrinth done (3 sets),
Day 18 of Punch Up! done,
Day 25 of 30 Days Of Yoga done, Ankle Recovery done, Talk To The Hand done.
My lazy Friday went well, I got stuff done and even finally finished that moon course I was doing (It was supposed to take me 8 weeks but I spent about 5 months on it, turns out I'm not a big fan of geology), I did get very confused watching Tenet though.
Yesterday was more of a mixed bag though. Housemate decided she didn't want visitors after all, so rather than go home I decided to go to a fancy out of town supermarket for some grocery shopping, that was a bit of a mistake as public transport in the area was very lacking and it took me a long time to get home (Hence the Maccy D's for dinner).
Today is going to be a chore day with some Sausage Pasta for dinner if I feel like eating (I really don't at the moment), see y'all tomorrow!
The corridor was lined with a maze of pipework, dripping rust-coloured water and shooting the occasional blast of scalding hot steam. Valeria weaved her way through it to the door at the far end, it was firmly shut, but there appeared to be some sort of device next to it that displayed the number 10. Perhaps if she got the number higher the door would open?
Looking down the corridor there were a number of levers, she tried pulling down the nearest one, it was quite rusty and needed a lot of brute force, but eventually she got it moved to a new position. Looking back at the device, it now read 15, she moved along to the next lever and forced this one down too, now the number was 8... Sigh. Valeria yanked the lever back into its original position.
Finally, after a lot of trial and error, she found the correct sequence of lever positions to get the number to 100 and the door slowly ground open. Once again a hot, sweaty mess, Valeria was glad to be out of that corridor and into a new room.
The room looked familiar, she was sure she had been in a room covered in cracks before. Consulting her map, it turned out she was correct, this was the room that had collapsed on her before, although, thankfully, it looked a lot more stable now. Panic gripped her chest, but Valeria concentrated on her breathing until the feeling went away. It was going to involve a lot of back tracking, but there were still a couple of paths she hadn't taken. After that, if she still hadn't found the key, then she could start panicking.
Got up on time for a change, getting my exercises out of the way:-
Universal Warmup done, 30 Climber Taps (EotD) done, Shadow Steps (Replacement WotD) done (3 sets),
Node 23 of The Labyrinth done (3 sets, I got myself mentally prepared for all the Butt Kicks I had to do, and then I forgot to do them, 360 Butt Kicks owed ),
Day 19 of Punch Up! done,
Day 26 of 30 Days of Yoga done (Still a long way from being able to do that headstand pose), Sore Feet done, Keyboard Warrior done.
My poor arms are so sore now, I think they came close to falling off today!
Yesterday went well, I got all my chores done (The pack of cleaning wipes I picked up turned out to be very useful, I may feel incredibly lazy using them, but anything that makes me more likely to get the cleaning done must be good!) and my Sausage Pasta was yummy (Even though I still don't feel like eating).
Today is a busy day of meetings, see y'all tomorrow!
Valeria looked at her map, it was a very long way to the remaining unexplored areas, and first she had to go back through the Hall of Mirrors. She hesitated, her mood was still pretty low from earlier and she really was not up for another round of revisiting her darkest memories. She poked her head through the entrance but the corridor was now, thankfully, mirror free. In fact, as Valeria walked through room after room to her destination, the magic or whatever force that powered this place seemed to be fading. This whole section of the labyrinth was now just a series of blank, near identical stone rooms with their number and placement of entryways being the only indicator of what room they were on the map.
Finally Valeria reached unexplored territory, this room featured a large stone with a sword embedded in it. She smiled, recognising the scene from one of her favourite childhood tales, although she doubted she would become queen by freeing the sword. She grasped the sword by the handle, braced her legs and pulled as hard as she could, at first nothing happened, but slowly and surely the sword began to slide out. When it was finally free, Valeria held it aloft and the sword gleamed brightly for a moment before fading to nothingness. An exit opened, but there was nothing but solid stone behind it, Valeria was disappointed but managed to keep her panic in check, there was still one final path.
