Thank you, @graoumia!:heartsit:

My Week in Ireland ~My daughter and i both love to walk, so we did! We had a car from Friday afternoon through Monday morning for some scenic drives, and we took trains or buses between towns, but within Galway, Dingle, and Dublin we walked. We had hoped to do a couple of proper hikes, but they didn't work out; that was our only disappointment!

WEDNESDAY 24 SEPTEMBER 2025
Landed at Dublin airport, then hopped on a bus to Galway. Walked from coach station to B&B (about 1 mile) with our backpacks & suitcases. Walked to book shop, chocolate shop, restaurant, then back to B&B.
  • Waling: about 2 miles
THURSDAY 25 SEPTEMBER 2025
Walked to tea/coffee shop then back to B&B for breakfast. Explored Galway on our own for a bit before doing a local walking tour; walked out along the bay to a spot for lunch, then back to B&B to freshen up. More exploring in the late afternoon, then a couple of pubs for food, drinks, and music in the evening.
  • Waling: about 5-6 miles
FRIDAY 26 SEPTEMBER 2025
After coffee and breakfast we headed to the station and took a train to Limerick, where we rented a car and headed on to Dingle. After checking in at our B&B and a quick change, we were off to grab food and explore the town. It was a great night of conversations with both locals and fellow travelers and amazing traditional music! When we left the last pub it was pouring down, but we didn't mind a bit.
  • Waling: about 2 miles
SATURDAY 27 SEPTEMBER 2025
A bright sunny morning. Probably some of the best espresso we have ever had from The Bean in Dingle, breakfast, then off to see the sea via Slea Head Drive! We took in more beautiful views atop Connor Pass, before going back into town for some shopping and a repeat of the previous night's craic!
  • Waling: about 2 miles
SUNDAY 28 SEPTEMBER 2025
Left Dingle and drove to Killarney National Park, where we spent most of the day, before driving back to Limerick. We parked the car, checked into our hotel room, had dinner at the hotel restaurant, and went to bed.
  • Waling: about 3-4 miles
MONDAY 29 SEPTEMBER 2025
Checked out, grabbed tea/coffee from a local spot, returned the car, and caught the train for Dublin. After the train we took a very crowded midday tram ride to get closer to our hotel; thankfully, our room was ready and we were able to check in early. Had a lovely conversation with the hotel bartender who was originally from Portugal; he recommended a local Portuguese restaurant for our late lunch. Unfortunately, it was far too crowded for us. We did find a very uncrowded restaurant in a hotel across the River Liffey that served delicious Peruvian food! We made our way to Trinity College and visited the Old Library to see the Book of Kells, Long Room, and Gaia. Next, we visited a couple of book shops, grabbed a light supper, and met up with our Literary Pub Crawl, which was quite fun. Back to the river, across the Ha'Penny Bridge and along the river until we had to turn up the street to our hotel.
  • Waling: about 4-5 miles
TUESDAY 30 SEPTEMBER 2025
Breakfast at the hotel, then off to explore. We went to the National Gallery, a local coffee shop, St. Stephen's Green, book shops, then back to the hotel for rest. The afternoon and evening included a local Korean restaurant, the General Post Office, a rainy walk (only the 2nd time), and one last pub for lively conversations and good music, drinks, and food.
  • Waling: about 3-4 miles

WEDNESDAY 1 OCTOBER 2025 ~travel home

Your vacation summary sounds realy nice. I wonder why I never went to Ireland.
My daughter was there and it was cold and rainy in the summer. She wouldn't go to Ireland again that soon.

Amazing how you planned to use rental car and train. I never tried rental car - typical vacation for us is going by car and be totally flexible.

Maybe I have a decision fatigue while planing and hope to escape. But on the other hand I stress myself on vacation and decide there every morning what to do.

@nell, we had a basic framework, where we were going to stay and how to get from place to place, but then we kept our days open to inspiration!
