I've decided to switch my writing goals back to hourly targets for the week, with the exception of the 500 words goal, which will remain a 6 days a week target. The whole "X days @ Y minutes/day" thing was too cumbersome to track. Plus it caused me to miss days when I didn't have the full hour to invest and to stop after an hour's work on days when I could have done more. Plus the 10 minute creativity sessions weren't all that useful to me. I would benefit more from longer, more focussed sessions. So my targets going forward will be:

60 minutes/week creativity exercises
60 minutes/week game study and development
8 hours/week additional writing work
minimum 500 new words/day, 6 days/week (the time for this is included in the 8 hours)
5 hours per week study
1 Do Whatcha Wanna day/week

Okay. Time for a reset for me. Basically just committing to actually going for my goals and not being a putz anymore.

I have restarted my Only Homemade Food challenge and will be logging my menus here: https://www.community.darebee.com/threads/only-homemade-2023.508/

I have decided to do the Omstars Feel Good Flow Challenge for the month of January (although will likely take January 13 off from this challenge as I have my own "52 for 52" workout that day, which I expect will be enough!) There are a bunch of free yoga challenges out there each year in January. I like the Yoga Download one the best of the ones I have found, since they provide 3 choices for each day, and I like a lot of their programming in general. But I have a subscription to YD so can always go back and do their January challenge classes next month. Most of the Omstars content will be behind a paywall for me again next month (and I cannot afford a subscription there), so I'm going to try to check out as much of it this month as I can. I'll report on my challenge progress to the Yoga Team.

Writing-wise I have kept up my streak, but it's not been focussed. This month's focus will be finding focus!

I like how all the little tick marks line up in my multi-day log post above, and logging multiple days at once like that saved me a significant amount of time. So I may revert to doing weekly summary posts in this thread.

My "52 for 52" workout is coming up this Friday (January 13)! Anyone want to play?

The rules:
  • You may gift me with an exercise which I must do for 52 reps or 52 seconds on my birthday.
  • If you do, you get to celebrate my birthday with me by also doing 52 reps or seconds of the same exercise!
  • The gift has to be a physical exercise. "52 burpees" is a good gift. "52 tequila shots" is not. (I will definitely not be drinking 52 shots on my birthday or any day!)
  • Yoga poses count if they are active yoga poses. e.g.: a 52-second crow pose would be a good gift, a 52-second shavasana would not be. (I will definitely be doing a nice, long--considerably longer than 52 seconds--meditation in shavasana after I have completed my birthday workout, but neither the meditation nor the shavasana qualify for any of the 52 exercises of my workout.)

Forty-nine years ago today my family and I crossed Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls and set foot on Canadian soil for the first time. We have celebrated "Rainbow Day" on the 12th of January every year since. I try to be thankful for the many blessings of my life in Canada every day, but I set aside Rainbow Day especially to thank the people, both near and far, who have blessed my life in Canada. So to you, my fellow Bees, who support my journey through my log here in the Hive, I say :tu:
