"Theres no easy way out. Theres no shortcut home"
Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes and the well wishes. I have been away for a while. My dad ended up hospitalized. He is home now but he has some issues that need to be treated. My husband is being treated with less brutal steroids but the cause of the platelet destruction is more serious than first diagnosed and will need different treatment. I had a bout of vertigo and severe anxiety. I am under a doctor's care. I'll do a bulk update. It's not too exciting. I am grateful we were on vacation during most of December between the vertigo and anxiety, work would have been impossible. I am just now trying to get back to some normal things. I really appreciate all of the support from everyone. It means the world to me.❤️

2 mile walk outside. 33:13

Notes: I decided to start my daily updates on my birthday. It was an ok birthday. I had a rough morning but the day got better. After work, we picked out new glasses. As a bonus, we had time to walk a couple of miles.

I'm sorry you're going through such a rough time. I hope you and Scott and your dad will make it through healthier and happier and soon.

Saturday 01.20.2024
1. Begin with Breath Tai Chi: Day 1 – Awaken Your Energy | BEGIN – 30 Days of Tai Chi: Rating = 9.0. My husband and I did this together and it was lovely.
2. 3 mile walk outside. 51:18
3. Recovery Day 1 (Stretching): Rating = 8.0.

Notes: I am far from the person who would do boxing every Saturday and Sunday morning. For me right now it’s all about taking steps. Today’s steps were Tai Chi and restarting Recovery.
I talked to my dad a couple of times. He was tired but at least he’s eating.
My husband had the weekly bloodwork done yesterday plus additional tests which will be done monthly. Only one of the additional tests came in so far and it was good.
The new normal is a weird normal.

2. Flow with Mira: 10 min Pilates Workout | Full Body Workout for Beginners: Rating = 8.0. Mira is very enthusiastic. This was a good session though.
3. BYNM: Day 1 | Root Chakra | 777 Chakra Challenge: Rating = 9.5. I just love her and her classes.
4. Recovery Day 2 (Box Breathing): Rating = 9.5. Box breathing is so relaxing.
5. 1 mile walk outside. 17:13.

Notes: The football season is winding down so today’s football Sunday consisted of the last 2 divisional games. More importantly, in addition to Tai Chi and Recovery, I also did Pilates and yoga. I shake a lot but I notice it’s getting better.
No new test results today.

1. Begin with Breath Tai Chi: Day 4 – Balance Mind and Body | BEGIN – 30 Days of Tai Chi: Rating = 8.5. This has become our after breakfast ritual. I am not so great at balance and I can really feel it in my shoulders.
2. Recovery Day 4 (Yoga): Rating = 9.0.
3. BYNM: Day 3 | Solar Plexus | 777 Chakra Challenge: Rating = 8.5. My whole body shook during modified boat. I have to start somewhere though.
4. 4 mile walk outside. 1:10:25
5. Moving Mango: Day 1: Anchor | FULL BODY FLOW – 21 Days of Bloom – Pilates to plant Trust: Rating = 8.5. I really felt this but I am glad I did it.

Notes: Today was a better day but I was really tired. We got the rest of the monthly bloodwork. As expected, it wasn’t all normal but it was better. I had an appointment after work so we walked after that and I did Pilates after dinner. I can definitely tell I haven’t worked out in a while

1. Begin with Breath Tai Chi: Day 5 - Release Tension | BEGIN - 30 Days of Tai Chi: Rating = 9.0.
2. Recovery Day 5 (Stretching): Rating = 7.5. I had to hold on for balance. Not my favorite but sometimes I can't always do my favorite things.
3. BYNM: Day 4 | Heart Chakra | 777 Chakra Challenge: Rating = 9.0. Even with the challenging (for me) boat pose this was still a wonderful session.
4. Heather Robertson: 30 MIN Full Body METCON//HR12WEEK EXPRESS: Day 1: Rating = 8.0. Good but very challenging workout. I used modifications. I was very shaky.
5. 4 mile walk outside. 1:11:46.

Notes: Today was the first day I’ve done a Heather Robertson workout since 9/28. My heart rate was extremely elevated and it was really difficult. I have a long way to go.
My husband and I are frustrated as we are still waiting on test results to determine treatment. It’s just stupid.

1. Begin with Breath Tai Chi: Day 6 - Total Body Stretch | BEGIN - 30 Days of Tai Chi: Rating = 9.0. My shoulders get tired but I still enjoy this.
2. BYNM: Day 5 | Throat Chakra | 777 Chakra Challenge: Rating = 8.5. This was a bit more challenging with high lunge but well worth it.
3. Recovery Day 6: (Box Breathing): Rating = 9.5
4. Heather Robertson: 30 MIN Leg Strength & Power Workout //HR12WEEK EXPRESS: Day 2: Rating = 8.5. I did not use the bands and I did the modifications. A great workout nonetheless.
5. 4 mile walk outside. 1:10:31.

Notes: This has seemed like a really long week. And my sleep was extra crappy because I thought I heard the phone ring in the middle of the night. Middle of the night calls are fun in college when your best friend from another college is calling to chat. When you’re in your 50s and your parents are almost 80, middle of the night calls are anxiety inducing. Luckily it was only a phantom call...just like I’ve heard phantom doorbell rings in the middle of the night.
My dad seemed to have a decent day. A physical therapist came to the house and it went well. Next week they will try the stairs.
Today was Day 2 of Heather’s Express program. It’s a 12 week program if you do it 5 days a week. I will not be doing it 5 days a week. It will take me as long as it takes me.
In other news, my lower back has been bothering me. I think it’s time to change my walking shoes.

1. Begin with Breath Tai Chi: Day 7 - Breathe Easy | BEGIN - 30 Days of Tai Chi: Rating = 9.0. More "involved" but still nice.
2. Recovery Day 6: (Light Cardio): Rating = 9.0
3. BYNM: Day 6 | Third Eye Chakra | 777 Chakra Challenge: Rating = 9.0.
4. Walk: 2 1 mile walks outside (17:20, 16:23)

Notes: I wouldn’t call today a good day. I am being moved to a new team at work (complete with a new supervisor). The person who does my job on that team is going to a different team and now her team wants me. I want to stay on my team but no one cares what I want.

My dad’s in home care nurse came today and basically said he wasn’t eating enough calories so jow my mom has to keep a food diary of his intake. He does not seem pleased.

My husband’s number improved enough that he gets to reduce the steroids again. I think the rest of the appointment was disappointing to him. I didn’t see it that way but I am not the one going through it.

I had DOMS today and blew off evening Pilates. The 2 are not related.

Today’s bright spot was finding out Sami’s (my parent’s dog) biopsy was negative.

1. Begin with Breath Tai Chi: Day 8 - Rejuvenate and Renew | BEGIN - 30 Days of Tai Chi. Rating = 9.0. This was a really nice.
2. BYNM: Day 7 | Crown Chakra | 777 Chakra Challenge: Rating = 9.0. The last one in the series. It won't be the last time I do the series though. 😻
3. 6 mile walk outside. 1:49.
4. Recovery Day 7: (Yoga): Rating = 9.0.

Notes: Today was my husband’s birthday. After breakfast, we did Tai Chi and after lunch we walked 6 miles. It was really nice outside. I think he had a nice birthday. ❤️

I planned to do a Heather workout but I was really tired and had a small headache so I moved it to Monday. I did finish up Nico’s Challenge with included a tree pose. Believe it not, my balance has gotten worse!

Thank you @BrigidForged and @Gandhalfit 💓 💗
