  • Challenge: Power Pose day 30 :completed:
    • This was interesting. It did feel silly at first, but then i began to see some benefits: it was another chance for a few more deep breaths at the start of my day (just like the Daily Hugs); it helped me focus on good posture; it gave me an opportunity to think about the day ahead or count my blessings or just watch the sunrise if i timed it right; i occasionally varied my arm position to one of joy/praise or surrender/acceptance or prayer. I don't feel the need to continue this daily as with the Hugs, but i think i will use it from time-to-time, so i am glad i did it.
  • January Challenge: Standing Abs day 10
  • Fighting cancer: 100 punches (50x jab+cross)
  • Program: SOMA 40+ day 5; level I; 5lb db; swapped the rep counts of the first two exercises on sets 2&3 because the squat-into-shoulder-presses helped stretch out my lower back, which has been tight for a couple of days, and lunges are always problematic for me.

We went to a memorial service for a friend's son in the afternoon.
He was 21, but was medically fragile. He had complications from the flu, and suffered cardiac arrest. He was born with severe cerebral palsy, confined to a wheelchair, and nonverbal. He was also intelligent, extroverted, and always full of joy. I actually worked with him for a few years when he was young, doing respite care and taking him to physical and occupational therapy. It is sad, of course; he was well loved by his family and friends, and his absence will be deeply felt, especially by his parents and six siblings. But we all believe that he is truly free now, and that we will be with him again.
The service was, unfortunately, held at the same time as my daughter-in-law's baby shower, so i was not able to go to that. She was very understanding and gave me her blessing. (She also knew the family.) My daughters and my other daughter-in-law did go, so i was well represented.
Then we met up with 2 of our daughters and four of the grands for an early dinner after both events were over.
I came home drained, so i didn't do

  • 54 scorpion twists
